We discussed having a get-together roughly 2 weeks before Christmas where we go to see a current movie at a cinema, then perhaps go somewhere for coffee, etc....

I would agree. The 23rd is far too close to Christmas for most people. I too am booked on that day. I also agree about Polls - by the time you got the poll...

That all works for me too, Actually as far as polls go we got a better input than I'd expected for the times. But I'm happy to go ahead with picking the movie...
