Re: [Weimaraner_Longhaired] Re: New to the group...

Thank you for the warm welcome Wendy!

I'm pleased to hear everyone is biased. I would far rather be amongst
genuine "wacky and biased" people who are sold on the breed than any
other! <grin>

It is interesting to read your comments about the more "laid back"
nature of most longhaired weims. My reading so far had led me by
implication to wonder if that was the case. Your comments add weight to
that conclusion. And move me further in the direction of thinking
that's another plus in the longhaired camp.

Your invitation to ask questions is very kind, thank you. I fear I will
soon wear out everyone's good will because I have so many! LOL My first
question is a more general one about preparing for dog ownership. I'm a
newbie to the dog world (although not a rank novice) and feel something
akin to the anxiousness associated with discovering one is pregnant with
one's first child. Excited and scared all at once. Wanting to do a
great job, aware that experiential learning is part of the ebb and flow
but not wanting to make too many mistakes. As a group of people far
more experienced in dog ownership than I am, what would you recommend
are good ways to be prepared for the joys and frustrations of dog
ownership? And if you have any weim specific preparation I'd welcome
that too!

Sing out if my questions become too mundane or repetitive or if there's
a book or a class or a group I can join to have them all answered. I'm
open to any or all of those.
