Well Tiffany, the first thing I would suggest will take you from now until after
you finally get your fur kid. You need to child proof your place. I say it will
take until after you get him or her, because it is only then that you will find
out all the things you missed! LOL! They are as prone to trouble as any toddler,
so you need to start moving things that are precious, delicate, etc., and look
at where you keep chemical stuff. In the USA, one of the most common sources of
poisoning is dishwasher detergent or blocks. Cast your eyes around your laundry,
as well as looking at your backyard with dogs eyes - "Where can I get out", from
puppy sized gaps and squeezable spots, things they can get on to get out. I
heared of one small dog who used to get on a chair, then on the table to get
over the fence to visit the next door dog.
Good luck. It is a fun time that passes all too quickly. And remember, everyone
started out sometime! Oh yeah, and take tons of pictures.
