Thank you for the nice welcome.. I have been a member of the European
Weim Message board for a little while now and saw that this one was
here.. So, what the heck.. is always nice to find new friends! :)
My Mike' (pronounced Meeka) is a wonderful LH weim female. She is
currently in training for the hunt tests in Dallas, TX this fall (or
most of the world's winter... hahahaa)! I tried to post some pics
last
night, but I don't know if they loaded or not.. It was very late and
I
was very tired! I will check to see if they are there or not. I
currently own 4 females and 2 males (1 female and 1 male I kept from
one of my females and my Australian Import male). I have high hopes
that my Mike', my Vito and my Harley will all do well in the hunt
tests and the field trials! They have all shown awesome prey drive,
great instinct, and a desire to please that is out of this world! I
could not be more happy with them! I also can not wait to see the
looks that I get when I run my Mike' in the hunt tests b/c no one
here
has ever heard of the LH Weim before. (I live in Texas). When I asked
the club director if I could register her into the field trials, her
immediate response was "Is she a English Setter mix?".. Of course, I
had to laugh! I told her that she was purebred and registered with
the
AKC. So she explained to me that any dog that is registered with the
AKC can run in the AKC sanctioned events. (I'm sorry if my speeling
is
off!) So, once I obtain Mike's JH title, I will begin her "serious"
training for the SH tests! Vito is also to run in the hunt tests (he
is my Australian Import male) and my Harley is scheduled for the
horseback field trials.... WOW, I am gunna be a busy bee!! (I also
have 3 other GSPs that will be competing in the hunt tests as well at
the same time).
My hopes are extremely high for all of my dogs in the tests this
fall.
I know that my Weims are ready for it! I would be happy to inform
everyone of the results of the tests/trials when they run.
I really do hope that the USA does feel "left out" as to the LH's
competing in the show ring as the rest of the world is now on the
band
wagon! I think it will not take long for the AKC to realize that they
are the only ones that THINK that the LH is a disqualification to the
show ring.. I would LOVE to put my Mike' through the show ring..
VERSATILITY!! That is the key to Weims! I also plan to duck hunt
Mike'
this winter and maybe even goose and rabbit this spring!
Boy, I am really glad that I can find the time to work all these
guys!
Up at 5 am and then not getting to bed until 1 or 2 am... LOTSA WORK!
But, they always said to me "If you love your job, then you do not
work a day in your life!".. This is turning out to be so true!
My future hopes are for Mike's brother "Jesse" to do just as well as
she does! I just began his JH training and hopefully will be able to
run him in the spring tests in Houston. (MAYBE!)
Well, it is getting late and I am gunna check the pix before I go off
to bed...
TTFN!
Melissa
Oh, BTW, my website is http://www.arielskennels.com if you wanna see
