Hi everyone
I meant to go online and let people know how we went at Sydney Easter and
Weimaraner specialty.
This was my daughter, Liesl's first time handling at sydney royal with her own
dog: junior longhair bitch Grausturm Live the Dream. She took reserve challenge
bitch at Sydney Royal and then at the specialty took BEST JUNIOR IN SHOW. She
was very excited as she beat all the junior shorthairs which added up to about 9
dogs. The judge was a weimaraner specialist from America DR Dana Massey.
It is great to see the longhairs come up against their shorthair counterparts
and win so convincingly under specialist judges. Intermediate in show was also a
longhair - owned by Judy Glover and the Best of Breed longhair was a lovely
young male owned by Debbie neumann who made a good challenge for in show but was
beaten on the day.
I am feeling confident that our longhairs are certainly holding their own and on
a level playing field should win as often as their shorthair counterparts.
Interestingly often their parents or grandparents which are shorthairs are
placed at the same shows - for example: our shorthair male Wylie Ch Grausturm
glitter Bug was placed first in open dog (another large class). He is the
grandsire of our junior longhair bitch. Also Peter Kings shorthair male Atlas (i
think grand ch greysouthern kings legend is his name) was placed 2nd and he is
the sire of the lovely longhair male to take best of breed.
Another pleasing result was to see Judy glovers longhair male take 1st place in
sire and progeny against the shorthair males.
Go the longhairs!!!
