www.itsfortheanimals.com This is where I found a lot of
information and began sorting out that both my two sh weims, Slade &
Misty Rose are hypothyroid and on lifelong soloxine. At first the
only local vet didn't believe the link even when I printed copies for
him, he didn't read it and then little by little, as I became
determined to make more headway in a better life for Slade, then the
vet agreed to test but he only had an incomplete panel done which
showed "normal" so it took a bit longer and emotions, determination
and some prolonged health issue suffering to finally have the vet
agree to allow another redraw of blood, and to let me send the blood
on my own to HemoPet/Dr. Dodd's from Alaska to California. Dr.
Dodd's has at least 45 years of her life dedicated to researching and
testing which I stressed to my vet, which is nearly his and my entire
life time. It was very surprising to me that Misty Rose had
hypothyroid, too, as her only symptom was cold intolerance. Slade
had many symptoms. I was just reading more on line yesterday about
what he had-he has been symptom free except three bumps last fall,
and only breaks out now if fed corn products. His hair on his sides
and belly has grown, not very thick but at least he's not hairless
any longer, and no more weeping, itchy sores.
I give him a teaspoon a day of near to local honey, along with no
corn, and his soloxine twice a day- I've been neglectful in that
recently as he's to have it 3 hours after dinner and we fall asleep
before then so I am trying to give it prior to their dinner, now.
Possibly your LH has not had a full and complete panel tested, and
keep in mind it can be tested again, twice a year or yearly.
