Hi,
I'm Madonna Hoffman from Central Queensland (Aust). I have just
found this group while trolling for information on sunburnt coats in
longweis and thought it would be a good source of information, news
and advice on longhairs.
I have been previously owned by a dobermann cross (Holley) for 14
years and am currently owned by a Weimaraner, for almost 11 years,
and newly owned by a Longhair (approx. 8 months).

My first weim is a very stubborn shorthair, "Weiand" (Jazzmarni
Argenthaar ET TD ADX JDX) and I am especially proud of her many
acheivements. She was semi-retired leading up to the birth of my
daughter in 2006 and 'officially' retired Jan 2007, after suffering
from bloat a second time. She still comes to training to keep the
young dogs inline and pretends that she can keep up with them.

My longhair weim is "Kinsler" (Feldjaeger Super Charged) and he is
still growing and developing. I have had some nice comments about
him, his temperment is very sweet, he loves working (at anything)
and while I have his concentration he is always trying to please!
Kinlser and I are finding our way around the show ring, quite a
different experience from trialling, but we are stumbling through!
We are hoping to also continue with some tracking this year.

My weis & I share our home with my ever-patient husband (who prefers
classic cars, hence the car themed names for all our dogs) and my
toddler daughter (who tries to rule the house and the dogs).

And a last note, if anyone has any information about stopping a
longweim's coat from getting sunburnt/bleached I would appreciate
it. I didn't have this problem with my shorthair and she sunbakes!

Many Thanks,
Madonna.

Hi madonna welcome to the forum. Usually it is sunbathing that bleaches the dogs coat and it is entirely individual. I have at the moment 3 longhairs and one...
