Hi Elena,
Well done for everything you've already done for the breed!!!!!!!
Maybe it's worth to post your message on the European Weimaraner board as well,
which can be found here:

Subject: [Weimaraner_Longhaired] Acceptance of the LH by the WCA
Hi, I am Elena Smith Lamberson and a longtime LH fan. I donated a very
talented 2 yr old male LH (Uberraschung von Silversmith) to the German
Club in 1987 because they told me about the HD problems they were
having at the time. They had a very limited number of LH sires
available for breeding and needed new blood. I also encouraged other
WCA breeders to send their LH with undocked tails to the Germans to
help their gene pool. This was a great success.
Thanks to Tom Wilson, who was President at that time, I was made
Chairman of the WCA's Longhair Study from 1988-early 1990s. Briefly,
here is what happened. I presented as much information as I could to
be published in the Weimaraner Magazine. The articles were published
along with photos. I resigned from the Board in 1991 since I had been
on for quite a while and asked that the next President continue this
study and eventually present it to the membership for a vote. This
never happened. The subsequent Boards apparently tabled the subject
and it disappeared.
I gave it up as a lost cause. You can only beat your head against a
stone wall for so long. It just wasn't the right time.
However, this can now be resolved by making a petition just like the
blue people have done and send in to the WCA for the December 2008
Board meeting. This means the petition must be in the correct form and
the request sent to Ellen Dodge by November. I have contacted Ginny
Alexander for her help in wording the standard to include LH as a
separate coat variety to be split in the Open class and retain blue or
black as a DQ. There is no point in wringing our hands about LH being
a separate variety because I have been down that road with AKC and it
will not happen - EVER. The only way it could happen is if the LH were
to be a different breed and that is ridiculous; LH is a legitimate
variety of our breed.
I have not heard back from Ginny; if any of you see her, ask her if she
does email (the message did not bounce, so I assume it delivered). If
not, I will call or fax a message to her.
I am asking for your help. We need as many people as possible who are
in favor of LH to become WCA members ASAP. Only WCA member can vote on
these issues. No matter what country you belong, if you are a WCA
member you can vote on membership matters. If you know of any LH
supporters who are not WCA members, please sign the WCA membership form
from a magazine cover, copy it in PDF and send to them so they can
apply for membership.
Also, would I be able to use your forum to send out any information I
receive? If so, I have quite a number of messages from LH supporters.
I would then ask them to join this group so that we can exchange
information more easily.
I plan to ask the German Breed Warden to send a letter to either me or
Ginny Alexander explaining why the German club values the LH and why
the Blue is not an acceptable color.
The standard change should be something like the new Canadian standard
which describes the LH as a coat variety and keeps the blue or black as
a disqualification.
I bought the domain: www.longhairweimaranerclubamerica.org
When I get enough information, I will set up the website.
Thank you for your help. We need to get organized now!
Elena
