I think your Special Beginners was like our Novice Encouragement. They beefed it
up to make it good enough for a title. I will look for the rules of the
different levels and send them to you.
To get an Obedience Ch here, you have to have UD, and after the title, get 5
passes at over 185, I think. Haven't heard of any Weis having it, although I
believe one in Victoria is close. A friend of mine has just put an Ob Ch on a
cocker spaniel, another has just made up the first Dual Ch Pug, with a show
title and flyball Ch, and she has her CCD, CGC and I think a pass towards her
CD.
We have a UDX now, think this is the first year, maybe second. So far no one
in the ACT even has a pass, let alone a title, not even those with Ob Ch. But
there is no Ob Gr Ch that I know of, there is Retrieving Gr Ch, as the President
of the ACT Gundog Society has one.
The only sport you cannot keep going at is tracking. I think it's a shame,
too. There is the variable surface stuff happening from next year, they are just
releasing the first level.
You should send your girl over here to get a few other titles. Someone who was
living over here with the NZ Diplomatic Corp, had a NZ CD, Aust CDX on her
Toller.

Hey Wendy,
Thanks for the explanation! Always good to learn about other countries. CCD
sounds like a good level to have. Our obedience system is a bit different to
yours but it kinda sounds like a cross between our CD (cos of the stand for
exam stuff) with our Special Beginners class. Sounds great!n Our CGC is just
new here. There is 4 levels (basic, bronze, silver and gold) they are not
yet titles but the kennel club is hoping to make them titles. We have 15
people doing CGC at my obedience club (which is huge as I belong to a small
club).
The only obedience 'titles' we can get here are CDX, TCQ (by winning each
obedience class - there are 5) and of course OB/OB Gr CH. So far only one
weim in NZ has gained Ob Ch.... so its a pretty hard task!
Our 'tracking' tests are different to yours - they involve obedience,
'agility' and tracking elements so are called 'working trials' - thus the
titles are different (UD/UDX, WD/WDX then TD/TDX). Once you are are a champ
in any of the dog sports you can keep entering (and can gain the title grand
champ) which is great. That's really sad your tracking champs can no longer
enter - but good that they are making a new test!
Well, congratulations on your success!
All the best with training Lara up for CD and Zed!
Cheers,
Rachael
