Hi all,
I know this is a longshot, but it's worth it. There is a longhair
bitch of Caron Hill's in Darwin that needs to get back home. I am a
third party in this, so I may well have some of the details totally
wrong. But Gigi is safe in the care of someone, but even then, I
think she can't be there very long. So we need someone who is flying
out of Darwin either to Sydney or Canberra, who would be willing to
travel with her on their ticket.
Please feel free to contact me privately wendls13@...
Thanks in anticipation
Wendy

Will get some up to date photos this weekend and post them next week. As you
all know it was because of Aimee that I have the Longhairs but I have to admit I
am really enjoying them and having a lot of fun showing them. They are now even
2 baby in groups each and 1 baby in show each. They have quite a fan club
around the rings (from Viszla, Goldie, Cocker, Malamute, Border Collie and heaps
more people) with lots of cheers when they win. Some of my friends like one
and get quite ticked off when the other one wins.

Wow Carol, well done!! I missed all this as I was packing up. Had a long way to
go and tried to get home in time to feed the boarders (school holidays, so lots
in). It may be a bit mean, but I really didn't expect any longhairs to even get
a look in. I am very pleasantly surprised! Congratulations!

only him and Gossip in the Baby class Longhairs but there were six
Weimaraner baby dogs and three Weimaraner baby bitches entered. I was so

was runner up best of breed. Can't figure out why or how they can do this

Well done Carol, congratulations. Its does sound strange that he was up against
a bitch over 6 months though, does'nt it. But at least he won!!

Hi ruth gary and family.
tragic to hear of roxanne's loss. Bloat and snake bite are the worst because it
is all so sudden and unexpected, healthy one day and gone the next. Over the
years I have lost two from bloat and it is just so frustrating. Do you want me
to print this ode to roxie in the next mag?

We have had lots of tragedies here with our breeding program and losing some
pups but I guess they are just set backs and we will just have to get on with
it. The good news for us is that we at least have two live pups from Misty this
time but we have just had ongoing problems with her second and third litter so
now thats it for her. Its sad for her cos she just loves puppies, even the dead
ones!!! She'll just have to play grandma to the others next time. What is so
frustrating is that we wait two years to do a litter and breed just what we want
then get so few puppies and some of our puppy buyers have waited that long too!
I guess I'll have to do another litter with one of the others now, more worry
and heartache. sometimes I hate this breeding game. WE have been up for about
ten nights straight with this last lot which is what pulled the boy through (he
only weighed 200 g at birth). Now he is about 500 g.
again sorry to hear your news.Cloud is fine, lovely and happy and gets on with
everyone. Still loves chasing those birds and now has Kimba in the act. She has
gone off to do a few shows in Canberra with Maree, so will see how she goes.
cheers
  ingrid

Carol thanks Mate. Dont know if you ever saw her , she was not pretty but she
was a Weimaraner in every sense of the word. Fantastic little gundog and to die
of bloat like this, I did not even hear a peep out of her. Can't get over
it.Gary. Here she is with Kathleen

LOSS OF A DOG
If you've ever known the joyful sound
Of barks that fill the air-
A sloppy kiss, a friendly paw,
A quiet adoring stare-
If you've ever had a special friend
To share a tear or two,
Or maybe just a wagging tail
To lift you when you're blue-
If you've ever felt the wrenching pain
That only death can send,
Then you have lost
Not just a dog-
You've truly lost a friend.
But God is good and treasures love
And there at Heaven's gate-
A sloppy kiss, a joyful bark-
Your precious friend awaits.

So sorry you've lost your Roxy. It's so sad to lose one, yet alone one so young.
Some are just so special, dog of a lifetime. I have one myself, and dread the
day. May your memories comfort you just a little. Don't forget she'll be waiting
for you at the Rainbow Bridge, and it sounds like you'd better plan on some
hunting.

congrats on your wins. Carol you must be esp pleased with your new baby and
fable. Great to get an in group with longhairs, its less common although we have
had quite a few with ours over the past few years. Great to see Lara took an in
group too (her mum took in group at her last show Grausturm Hearts Afire). What
do they say about seeds and trees?!!
Cheers for now and well done again. WE havent had any shows for awhile. Will let
you know how the next one goes. (hope they havent got too fat in the meantime).

Carol, these babies must be a breed record! You'll have to tell us which judges
are actually looking at the end of the line up, I wouldn't think I've ever
entered under them! Most that I've seen don't even look down the end. I heared
about the Sibe, what a shame. I'll be looking for an antihistamine (sp?) to put
in my show bag. I'm going to the vet tomorrow, so I'll ask what's safe.
Congratulations
Wendy.
PS, Decided to see how far off a nervous breakdown is - showing dogs in 4 groups
this weekend, and sweeps. Just for a laugh. Will have 5 of ours, and pooling
with a friend who has 7 in! I can see the wrong dog in the ring (maybe the wrong
breed, & maybe even group) and lots of laughing! Pitty he doesn't drink, as I
think that might have helped!LOL

Gary had the new Weimaraner baby Remy Kadma Tell No Tails out and even if I am a
bit bias he looks stunning. Ruth and Gary had their longhair girl Lara -
Klaswei Wood Nymph and I had my two longhair babies Scandal - Kadma Read My
Lips and Gossip - Kadma Caught You Lookn. Lara got Challenge Bitch and Best of
Breed and Gossip got Baby of Breed and Baby in Group.
The day was somewhat spoiled by the death of a young Siberian Husky puppy that
was found collapsed in the trailer and it was while the Best of Breed Weimaraner
was being judged I heard the scream for help. We administered CPR for 10 mins
but it seemed an eternity but unfortunately to no avail. It was so depressing
feeling totally unable to save such a young puppy. There was no local Vet and
the nearest was 25 mins away so she was taken for a Post Morteum the outcome was
apparently a Bee sting which sent the puppy into anaphylactic shock. My thanks
at this stage to everyone I threw my dogs to and to Helen McCready and Cathy
Hayes who took my Longhair babies in for their classes.
Then after a very social and badly needed evening at the local motel (those of
you who saw how red my eyes were this morning no telling) we fronted up again
this morning. Just a note here I have just done an approximate count on the
number of dogs we had at the motel last night and it comes to approximately 43
and believe it or not there were no growls and hardly a bark from the dogs the
people on the other hand were not so quiet.
Once again we had a very friendly day with all the babies - Remmy the
Weimaraner, Gossip and Scandal the LH Weis, Autumn and Titan the Alaskan
Malamutes, Grace the Ridgeback and Luther the Hungarian all together playing
happily in the extended puppy pen along in shifts with Ruth and Gary's children.
Fable got Best of Breed again in the Weimaraners and went Reserve in Group/Open
in Group. Scandal beat his sister and went Baby in Group and then Ruth and
Gary's girl Lara went Junior in Group.
Great two days for all the grey kids but not only were we all winners in our
extended camp we had on day one the German Shorthair Pointer who was Reserve in
Group, the English setter who was Intermediate in Group the Alaskan Mal who was
Best in Group/Reserve in Show and on day two the English Pointer Best in Group
and Best in Show, the Mal (same one) Reserve in Group, the English setter
Intermediate in Group and the Hungarian Viszla Minor in Group/Minor in Show.
It was just and all round great two days of friendship and everyone helping each
other it is just a shame the first day was marred with the death of the Sibe
baby.

Well, the mystery is a mystery no more. Deb Neuman found the 2000
and 2002 winners, and someone on the Ozshow list said the RAS had an
archive dept and gave me the phone number. It certainly does exist,
and I got the answer within an hour of the enquiry! Very nice woman
doing it, too. It seems that with a phone call to let them know
first, you can go in there and access the records right back until
the shows started! I am going to spend some time in there one of
these days (decades?). Several breed clubs are doing research now.

Anyway the results are
2000 Aust Ch Greygables Wild N Woolly Pinnow
2001 Sinaway Quest for Gold Hill and Johnson
2001 Aust Ch Sinaway Quest for Glory Hill

So there you go. Now the trophy can be sorted. I wonder who'll win
it next year?

Hi caron
couldnt find your email attached so have just replied. Hope things work out for
you with your mum, it must be hard, sounds like the club owes you a big thank
you for all your work - its great to hear how involved some people are in
weimaraner issues and welfare.
I am very interested to learn more about early deaths in weis,we have heard no
news of this in tassie and we would like to know details, is it related to
autoimmune or hod or gastric torsion or something else. what are the symptoms,
ages, how many etc. We must share this sort of thing between clubs as we are
such a mobile society and our lines regularly cross with other lines for
improvement. Please let me know details about what your club does know.

Hi everyone.
I was just wondering who of us are going to Melbourne month? I am,
but with a Min Pin, a Soft Coated Wheaten and 2 Smooth Weis. Lara is
still involved on maternal duties , and I'm waiting for what little
coat she does have, to hit the road, so to speak. I hope that a few
of us will be there and we can have a little chin wag sometime in
the day. Food and wine........you know!

Dear Weimaraner Club of NSW Inc Committee and Members,

Re letter of request received today from the Secretary dated the 18th August 04
enquiring about the club seal.

I did mention to Jill Mallard and Leonie Kellett at the Gundog Society show,
when they came to ask about it, that I did not think that I had the seal. I have
checked and I only have what was given to me by Val Peters on the night she
handed over to me. Basically meeting paraphernalia. I have made a search of my
garage recently and found a few grey polo shirts that were left over from a
breed expo type of event but no club seal!

As my mothers health is deteriorating I can make no plans to be at or enter
shows and have no interest in attending the AGM as requested in your letter. At
the moment I am spending approximately three days a week away from home.

Please remove me as National Council delegate and as Public officer from today
as I have no wish to work for a committee that is not prepared to pay me my past
secretarial expenses even though all documentation was supplied. As the
committee is unwilling to pay for the National flags I purchased I expect them
to be returned to me in good order as they are my property.

The tattoo equipment has already been handed over to Jill Mallard for emergency
use along with the current tattoo register. I do not wish to stand for this
position again as I cannot be sure I will be available when required.

I will however be giving my assistance to the Weimaraner Rescue in the form of
fundraising (where possible) as long as the Treasurer and the committee can
confirm that funds raised for Rescue are earmarked for the exclusive use of
rescue.

I look forward to receiving my newsletter. Its not an easy job and Jill is
putting a lot of effort into it and doing it well. A pat on the back for Leonie
who is also doing a sterling job with the rescues. I will help out where I can
with phone calls and even collection if possible for the rescues but I cannot
offer temporary accommodation because of my current circumstances.

I wonder if the club might have another health seminar as I am concerned with
the number of early deaths I am hearing about. This problem appears to be
widespread. Hopefully there is some new research that we may be able to take
advantage of? Possibly altered breeding practices might be employed.

I expect this correspondence to be read out at the next General Meeting in
September and the AGM as it pertains to BOTH meetings.

Good luck to everyone with their dogs. Weis are excelling in most fields and its
nice to hear about all the results, not just the show results.

Yours sincerely,

Caron Hill

Coming from Tasmania, we had never seen a cane toad before, nor did
we know if we have them in this part of Queensland. we saw a few
toads over summer, but whether they were cane toad or not we did'nt
know. This afternoon though we were outside, and Remy ran up to us
frothing at the mouth and shaking his head. I told him to "show me"
and he went straight back round the front and would have picked it up
if I had'nt grabbed him. He had stopped frothing by this time and I
don't know what the other symptoms are, so was'nt sure what to do
next. Decided just observing would be the best. he laid on his bed
and went to sleep as is his usual routine after lunch, but I kept
poking him and waking him up every 2 minutes or so to make sure he
was'nt in a coma. Finally I could'nt stand it and phoned the vet,
they said he would be fitting by now if there was a problem but to
hose his mouth out anyway. HOSE? Well O.K. Getting woken again, and
being taken to the tap and having his mouth hosed was NOT Remys idea
of a good day I can tell you. Serves him right for scaring me so much.

Too late Ingrid, this thing has really snowballed. I would'nt worry about their
facts being right though, I told them what you wrote on this site practically
word for word. When i logged on,last night I noticed someone has found an email
address for the dogs home too now, so i would'nt be surprised if they also get
some. Its also on Dogz on line(I did'nt do that one). I would advise you to
contact the mercury yourself now. If they do decide to do a story you don't want
them just interviewing the dogs Home, they should interview you. I guess you
don't want me to tell them the names of the T.V stations down here yet then?

Thanks Deb! Someone on the Ozshow list told me that the RAS has all the results
archived right back to the start of dog showing there, and gave me the phone
number. If no one comes up with it, I'll call them tomorrow. Thanks for that.
Caron, how could you forget Glory getting this (VBG). This means that litter
mates got this in successive years and their Mum already had. It will be nice to
have them all on the one trophy, and then our Lara, their daughter, neice and
grand daughter was this year.

Thanks Deb. Could you also look up 2000 for me. I know it's Sue Pinnow's dog,
but as I don't actually know her, it would save me ringing her & looking like a

Sorry guys, the accountant is on his way without any real warning, and I've
