I will answer the questions for what we have in the NSW club.
> 1) Who judges them? The same judge that judges regular classes?
An appointed judge judges them although I am informed it does not
need to be a QUALIFIED judge. Our club usually appoints someone who
has just passed their gundog licence.
> 2) Does the judge get paid more for doing it? In other words, what
is the judge's motivation to do the extra work? Do they usually
agree to judge these classes?
I don't know about that. I would think as its only small perhaps
they do not get paid and its more to learn about specific points of
the breed for new judges but they would be entitled to be paid when
all is said if they required it.
> 3) How long does it take, and how does the procedure go? Everyone
> enters the ring and ...???
Depends who wants to go in it. Its usually a turn up when its called
sometimes it takes an hour and it depends how many classes. There
was a time there were best head/dog bitch/ best movement dog/bitch,
best feet, best coat but usually its just head and movement these
days and sire and dam and progeny.
> 4) When are these classes held? E.g., if you have Weims SH and LH,
are property classes for SH Weims judged after regular SH classes
before LH classes, or some time before the finals, or ?
Its up to the club when in the show program. Sometimes its lunchtime
and sometimes its first thing in the morning.
> 5) How many entries are there usually, i.e., are these classes
popular?
Yes I think so. I like them but some people never bother with them.
> Would someone enter their dog into all of them - Best Head, Best
> Movement etc?
yes, many people do that.
> 6) How often does it happen that the same dog wins ALL of them -
e.g. takes BOB and Best Head and Best Movement?
Can't answer that. It wouldn't be strange if it happened
particularly with movement but it is a different judge doing it and
not everyone goes in it.
> 7) What are the prizes for these classes? Any ribbons?
Usually a ribon.
> 8) What else do I need to know about it, as I'm going to suggest
this to our Kennel Club, and do you as exhibitors find them helpful
and interesting and fun, or is that actually not such a good idea to
bother with?
>
We usually charge $2 at the ring gate to enter and someone has a bag
and collects the takings. You have to have 3 go in a class for it
to be a class.
Longhairs are mixed with shorts for it and I would suggest if having
it you have it first up in the day and then take a short break.
Many people don't want to tire out dogs in movmeent if running alot
for the show.
Narelle
I will try to answer your questions but each state in Australia have different
rules so this is the rules the CCC Qld have:
1) Who judges them? The same judge that judges regular classes?
Depends on the club running the event. They may have the same judge or contract
a separate judge depending on the members wishes.
2) Does the judge get paid more for doing it? In other words, what is
the judge's motivation to do the extra work? Do they usually agree to
judge these classes?
Judges in general do charge a fee. Usually it is small but this depends on lots
of things: If it is a local judge the fee is usually smaller. Interstate
slightly higher and overseas can be much more. However some judges consider it
a privilege and keep fees to a minimum especially for specialty clubs as they
are well aware that specialty clubs don't have much money. I would not expect
any judge I contract for a club to charge more because they were asked to do
property classes.
3) How long does it take, and how does the procedure go? Everyone
enters the ring and ...???
Depends on the judge. If the judge has already judged the dogs in their breed
class then it shouldn't take long. If it is a separate judge it takes longer as
the judge must start from scratch. Usually if it is say best movement/feet all
dogs (Weimaraners and Longhairs/ dogs and bitches) enter and compete together
(at least in Qld they do) If it is best head dogs (Weimaraner and Longhairs) are
judges and then bitches (Weimaraner and Longhairs) are judges. If it is coat
Weimaraners (dogs and bitches) are judged separate to Longhairs (dogs and
bitches)
4) When are these classes held? E.g., if you have Weims SH and LH, are
property classes for SH Weims judged after regular SH classes before LH
classes, or some time before the finals, or ?
If it is the same judge as for breed judging of property is done after
completion of breed judging. (remember I am talking Qld) If it is a different
judge it can be done in the lunch/dinner break.
How many entries are there usually, i.e., are these classes popular?
Once again this is hard to determine. Depends on the judge how exhibitors feel
they will do and in my case how exhausted I think we will be after breed
judging.
Would someone enter their dog into all of them - Best Head, Best
Movement etc?
Some people do depends if you feel your dog has a good head, movement etc and
once again if you think you are not going to be exhausted. We can show up to
eight dogs at our local breed show to help boost numbers for the club and the
judge. Also you must have a separate handler for each dog and this can be hard
if you have a number of dogs.
Also to me breed class judging is far more important so that always take
priority.
6) How often does it happen that the same dog wins ALL of them - e.g.
takes BOB and Best Head and Best Movement?
Not as often as you would think. Some clubs have a rule that if you win BIS or
R/U BIS you cannot compete in property classes if it is the same judge. I have
known a dog to take BIS but loose best movement. It does happen.
7) What are the prizes for these classes? Any ribbons?
Depends on the club. Sometime just a sash sometimes trophy as well. A lot
depends on entry fee charged. In Qld we have to enter at time on entry deadline
but in other states you can enter on the day.
8) What else do I need to know about it, as I'm going to suggest this
to our Kennel Club, and do you as exhibitors find them helpful and
interesting and fun, or is that actually not such a good idea to bother
with?
It boosts the clubs bank balance usually. Can't see it working for All Breeds
clubs but for specialty is usually considered a good idea.
Hope this helps. If you need more info email me direct. I Show Manage at a lot
of Specialty Shows.

I really hope for some answers here. I'm very interested in the so-
called Property Classes that are held at Australian specialty shows.
1) Who judges them? The same judge that judges regular classes?
2) Does the judge get paid more for doing it? In other words, what is
the judge's motivation to do the extra work? Do they usually agree to
judge these classes?
3) How long does it take, and how does the procedure go? Everyone
enters the ring and ...???
4) When are these classes held? E.g., if you have Weims SH and LH, are
property classes for SH Weims judged after regular SH classes before LH

5) How many entries are there usually, i.e., are these classes popular?
Would someone enter their dog into all of them - Best Head, Best
Movement etc?
6) How often does it happen that the same dog wins ALL of them - e.g.

7) What are the prizes for these classes? Any ribbons?
8) What else do I need to know about it, as I'm going to suggest this

with?
Thanks very much in advance, I'd appreciate any and all replies.
Irena & Audry the Latvian Tassie Devil :)
Twiggy qualified TDex again at the weekend, this is her 9th
qualification in this stake.
67 dogs entered, 27 qualified after the nosework, 10 qualified
overall. Twiggy was the only dog to get a full mark sendaway and
redirect and the only Weimaraner competing.
Thanks Caron.

Hi all,
Just wanted to let you know that Happylea Kings Silver - Harm, has
achieved another class in Group taking out Minor in Group at Bega on
the 12/2/06 under Mr Hinde of Victoria.
That makes 2 Baby Puppy in Group, 1 Baby Puppy in Show and 2 Minor
Puppy in Group.
Dale Kurt and I are very proud of this stunning young dog.
I don't know if everyone knows about it yet, but there is a new on-line
data base being constructed. Sylvia and Marjolein in Holland are 'to
blame' LOL ! It is a world wide data base, combining all of the data
bases that are around, and info right from stud books, as some of the
current data bases have errors. It automatically figures out the COI,
and pedigrees, and so will be very helpful for working out breeding
programs. I am doing the Australian and NZ section, but the problem I
am having, is that the COI calculations require the DOB of the dog. I
have been working out of old catalogues and books, but have now
exhausted my resourses. I will be getting a hold of the Wei records
from the ANKC, but not for a while. So what I am hoping for is help.
Stuff from old catalogues (especially Specialties or Royals) anything
with Rego numbers, and especially DOB's. So if anyone has anything that
would be of help, I would LOVE a photocopy, or a list of dogs you have
bred, their rego, DOB and parents, if you realy like typing! And of
course, whether the dog was a LH or LHC, as both of these things can be
recorded. Both smooth and LH are on the data base.
There will also be photos that will be able to be put up with the
pedigrees, but not yet. How helpful will this be to see the dogs behind
your stock, even way back! And these days, with imports and semen, you
will be able to look up pedigrees around the world.
The DOB of earlier dogs are proving to be a bit of a problem, so any
help would be MOST welcome!! Perhaps I should offer a chocolate prize
for the one that comes up with the most info!
Wendy
Hi Wendy,
Bad luck with your litter. I blame the drought.
Send me some pics?
Thanks for the update on the lh ch.

Great Ingrid
Yes he will be for show and breeding.
Can I have some pics and pedigree and I will send onto them. If they are
interested I will give you their contact details. I dont know what you
charge for the dogs you export but dont undercharge. I dont think $5000- is
unrealistic. It should even be more. They have paid more in the past. Just
to let you know.
If you have any questions dont hesitate to ask me.

Hi everyone
We finally got Ice's title. He hasnt been shown since best of breed melb royal
2003 and has been sitting on 99 points ever since as his owners was in a riding
accident. Today he took Best of Breed and State Bred in Group so we were very
proud. He is now Aust Ch Grausturm Fire N Ice which makes his sire now have over
half of his progeny with titles (6 out of 11 pups)including both longhair and
shorthair weims.

Hi All,
Just wanted to have a small brag about our boy Happylea Kings Silver
(Harm) on Saturday 4/2/06 at Berry Show Society under Mrs D Harbin,
Harm not only received Best of Breed over his mother Leya but also
Minor in Group. This is his 3rd class in group and he has also had a
class in show. It is great that Judges are looking at the long hairs.
Hopefully soon I will have a picture of him up on the dogzonline site
and I will try to put one up on here as well. (If I have difficulties I
will let you know Wendy.)
Good luck with your litter Roz, was that a longhair baby that won
the sweeps????

Hi all.
I have had an enquiry from Japan for a champion longhair male for show and
breeding. The fellow is very reputable and has the dogs in very good conditions.
If anyone has any ideas of who might fit the bill let me know.
At this stage it looks like my full longhair litter from Glory to Lugar (Judy
Glovers new import) is nearly all sold. With any luck only 1 girl to go.
Thanks.

Hi Caron,
I met Rolf and Pernilla on Saturday night.
They were very taken with my young dog Harm. They took
photo's of Harm and Leya and are going to send me them on
the internet. Rolf took lots of photo's of all the Wei's while they

That is wonderful, Mar! Congratulations!!!!!!!!! Sometimes I wish we had to
get a 'real' qualification here too, I think we would see many less Champions!
If Guinea Pig (Cavy) hunting ever comes in, I'll be right up the top. We are
boarding two, and Boss has been pointing at them all week! We had them in their
cage, and then that in an avairy, just to be sure! LOL! The owner is VERY
attached to them, and I think she expects them back in one piece! I let Boss
into the aviary AFTER we had removed them, and it was very interesting to watch
him creeping up and freezing, tail wagging all the time.

Congratulations on your title. Well done.
You are rightly proud it is a great achievement.
I had a visit from Pernilla and Rolf last thursday. They are here in oz to
visit relatives and catch up with some weimaraner friends.
How do they get so brown and fit looking!
It was wonderful to see them. I suggested they visit the Wollondilly show
last night to see the first pointscore for the year. Did anyone catch up
with them there?
Pernilla explained to me about the blood tracking and it is wonderful to
hear about the dogs doing what they know best. It is amasing that they
retain their instincts through years and years of breeding. Just
fascinating.
Again Very well done on your titles.
Talk soon.

Hi Wendy, I know that there will be some good
tracking and obedience brains in there.
