Coming from Tasmania, we had never seen a cane toad before, nor did
we know if we have them in this part of Queensland. we saw a few
toads over summer, but whether they were cane toad or not we did'nt
know. This afternoon though we were outside, and Remy ran up to us
frothing at the mouth and shaking his head. I told him to "show me"
and he went straight back round the front and would have picked it up
if I had'nt grabbed him. He had stopped frothing by this time and I
don't know what the other symptoms are, so was'nt sure what to do
next. Decided just observing would be the best. he laid on his bed
and went to sleep as is his usual routine after lunch, but I kept
poking him and waking him up every 2 minutes or so to make sure he
was'nt in a coma. Finally I could'nt stand it and phoned the vet,
they said he would be fitting by now if there was a problem but to
hose his mouth out anyway. HOSE? Well O.K. Getting woken again, and
being taken to the tap and having his mouth hosed was NOT Remys idea
of a good day I can tell you. Serves him right for scaring me so much.

Too late Ingrid, this thing has really snowballed. I would'nt worry about their
facts being right though, I told them what you wrote on this site practically
word for word. When i logged on,last night I noticed someone has found an email
address for the dogs home too now, so i would'nt be surprised if they also get
some. Its also on Dogz on line(I did'nt do that one). I would advise you to
contact the mercury yourself now. If they do decide to do a story you don't want
them just interviewing the dogs Home, they should interview you. I guess you
don't want me to tell them the names of the T.V stations down here yet then?

Thanks Deb! Someone on the Ozshow list told me that the RAS has all the results
archived right back to the start of dog showing there, and gave me the phone
number. If no one comes up with it, I'll call them tomorrow. Thanks for that.
Caron, how could you forget Glory getting this (VBG). This means that litter
mates got this in successive years and their Mum already had. It will be nice to
have them all on the one trophy, and then our Lara, their daughter, neice and
grand daughter was this year.

Thanks Deb. Could you also look up 2000 for me. I know it's Sue Pinnow's dog,
but as I don't actually know her, it would save me ringing her & looking like a
dope. Oh yeah, I do anyway . There, I saved everyone the trouble! LOL!

Of course, I am talking about at All Breeds level. Ch Smokeydees Basil Brush was
BIS at the National, Ch Sinaway Quest for Gold was RUBIS at the NSW Wei Club
show last October, and our Lara, his daughter, Ch Sinaway You Can Hope was
Junior in Show, and an Aceweis dog was puppy in show. I also think that Caron
Hill got a class in group at the Spring Fair, and Deborah Neuman got a class in
group at the Sydney Royal, also with a Sinaway dog. All this history really
needs to be recorded, you know. Ingrid Albion has had quite a few class in
groups in Tassie, one recently. Anyone else?

Hi again,

Congrats Carol on the win. Wonderful news. We going to see you down here for
our champ show in Oct?
Comment on the "in show" winning records.
I seem to remember way back to the first full long to long litter by
Bromhund in Australia that had Ch Bromhund Laura in it .I just cant remember
who owned her but I am pretty sure she won Best in show all breeds!!! she
was owned by people in Canberra. Both this litter and her show wins were
before my time so about 25 years ago?
Can anyone confirm?

Thanks Caron,
That gives me somewhere to start. I'll call Sue Pinnow tomorrow and get their
dog's name, and that will at least be one down. I might email Bromhund incase
one of them was theirs.
I'm sure the trophy does say 'Quest For Gold' , I don't know why I'd get Lara's
daddy's name wrong! It's interesting that your Q litter was born during the
Olympic rehersals for Sydney, and then Brodie's grandkids are born just before
these Olympics. I guess that makes Brodie and Glory four.
I'll update when I find the answers.

Hi Wendy,
I wonder if the RAS might be able to help you with the RUBOB problem. It was
not returned by the Pinnows who had it for the first year missing and they
obviously didnt get it engraved for their own dog. It only turned up again
for the year Brodie got it 2003. I hope it doesnt have Go for Gold as he is
Quest for Gold.I have all my Royal cat. packed away or I would try to look
it up for you. Let me know what you find out. As you say history lost.

Hi everyone,
Got a bit of a puzzle for you. This year our Lara was RUBOB and so
got the Happylea trophy (and a very nice one it is, too). There are
shields around it to be engraved with the winner's details, & that's
what I need help with. There are several years that are missing, as
in, unengraved. I want to get them done before I take it back in
April so this part of our breeds history is not lost. What I need is
the RUBOB winners from 2000, 2001 and 2002. What there is on it, is
Smokeydees Bootsnall in 98, Ch Sinaway Zay Zelda in 99, then nothing
until last year when Brodie got it, Ch Sinaway Go For Gold, and us
this year. Could you guys put on your thinking caps, or dig out old
cataloges and have a look please? I'm sorry to say it was before our

babies!
Hope all four leggeds and two leggeds are well, our babies are
growing like weeds!

Hi Wendy,
It Is better to be safe than sorry. 2 forms makes it clear to the
RNSWCC. You could give them a call and confirm that they will
accept the registration that way.

Hi Wendy,
What I did was two forms and I actually took them into the CCC as I know how
they can stuff things up. At the very least attach a letter of explanation. By
the way apparently only one form needs to be signed but all other details need
to be filled out.

Hi Guys, first dumb question of the day (unless you have kids)
To register a mixed litter, you fill out two rego forms, one for the long, one
for the smooth, don't you? That's the only way that makes any sence to me, but I
just had to ask.
Wendy

P.S. Just put our lot onto dogzonline.com.au so have a look. Web site coming

I agree. There's a lot of this going around. I know that the RSPCA in NSW will
not contact breed club rescue groups, even if they have a waiting list of
screened people. They seem to much rather spend their money on fighting breeders
about docking, and I'm sure that is just the first. I would have thought that
dogs' homes, etc., would have a mission statement or something that would
mention that their actions are for the sake of the animals, but I think they are
looking at it rather strangely these days. I have to admit that I was a Junior
member of the RSPCA and one year raised the second largest amount for them
selling badges. But they focused on helping the animals then. Maybe if they
won't release her and it looks like she'll be put down, we might have to get
onto the Ozshow list or something and pass the hat for her. I'll certainly put
my hand in my pocket. How can someone have a beautiful girl for that long, and
just when she'll start to need them, dump her? Some people are
unbelievable! Although there was a story in the National Dog about a Bassett
that was found living in a hole under a pier. He was in a bad way, & , although
the author didn't go into detail, they said that through tradgedy, he was
waiting for someone who never could return to him (Wendy cried here). So I guess
there's a slim chance that something like that happened. We have a cat here in
the cattery who is now looking for a new home as his Mum has to go into a
Nursing home.

Anyone want a cat?

I can't BELIEVE they would rather euthanase a healthy dog than rehome her, what
is WRONG with them. Have they forgotten what they are there for? Do they have an
email address, maybe we could all email them and tell them what we think of
them? Perhaps you could try sending someone in who they have'nt seen to claim
her. O.K its dishonest, but they are being ridiculous.

all the $500 worth maybe just clean her teeth well really!!!

Very unlikely to be ours Ingrid. She lived at Kellevie, not far from where we

WOO HOO! I KNEW she could do it, we are SO happy to hear about Claudi, oops,
Cloud. Got any photos?

She's at brisbane royal today - wish she had her mums coat though!!!
Latest news Misty's daughter Cloud Grausturm Hearts Afire took best
of breed and Best intermediate in group yesterday at her first show
back in Tas. She has put on a lot more weight and muscle since she
is back and has been racing around every day hunting the birds. She
is starting to look really fit. I think she is starting to give
kimba a run for her money. Liesl my middle one has been doing a lot
of work getting her to run with her head up and Maree took her in
the ring for this show. Unfortunately runner up in show was from
intermediate, can you believe the bad luck!
cheers ingrid
