Hi everyone,

For those that came along to the 'End of Season Party' at Chalk Hotel on Saturday night I hope you had a fantastic time, I know I certainly did :D
Thanks to Dom Ventura for his awesome footage from Nationals on the plasma, and to Dan Blacklock for being official photographer! When we get the photos from the night published onto a site somewhere I'll let everyone know so that you can check them out. Great job Disponics for winning the boat race (Adelia's insane ability to scull a pot of beer in 3 seconds surely helped!).

As you should all know the next installment of BPL (BPL#3) is scheduled to commence on Thu May 11th, which is not quite 2 weeks away !!!
We're trying for a 5 team league this season, to encourage the development of up & coming intermediate men who'd like to improve their game and take themselves to the next level of Ultimate Frisbee.

At this stage the potential squads will be:
- Whippett Good (2 times reigning champs)
- DojoMojo
- MB B*ggers
- Ultimate Lovers
- Bootius Maximus

The captains for the above squads are currently being confirmed, so at this stage if you are not yet on a team for BPL and are thinking of playing, then you need to flick me a quick email to express your interest ASAP. Don't leave it too late otherwise you'll miss out !!

The league duration will be approx 13 weeks, and will cost $60 (or $10 if you travel more than 50km to play). AFDA Fees are included in league costs, and have gone up to $1 per game instead of 75c, however the BPL cost will stay at $60.

That's all for now, remember - contact me ASAP if you're not yet on a squad and are thinking of playing BPL!

Cheers,
Andy, BPL LD

I hope those that came down to play or spectate tonight at the BPL & WUFL Finals enjoyed themselves!

Massive congrats to Sean Flanagan and his team, Whippett Good, for winning the Brisbane Premier League for the 2nd season running! Well done boys!
And congrats to Rueben's MB Bugg*ers for making the final!!
For those not present, the final score was 15 - 11.

I also wanted to send this quick email to say thanks to a few people that I rudely forgot to thank during my quick speech tonight:

Thanks to:
- My wonderful wife Suzanne, for doing such an awesome job on the BBQ
- Dan & Sara for doing such a great job helping her with the BBQ
- Bruce for bringing, setting up, cleaning, packing up, taking home, the BBQ
- Jon & his helper (sorry for forgetting your name mate :$) for setting the field
- All those people that helped carry stuff, or pick up rubbish etc, every little bit helps and it's very much appreciated!
- And how could I forgot my fellow LD, Sandra, for doing such a great job drinking the UDLs ;)

For those that are wondering, the next season is pencilled in to start on Thu 11th May, but there'll be final confirmation on that soon hopefully.

Yet another plug for the 'End of League Party' !! - Make sure you've scheduled in Saturday, 29th April, for this massive event, which is going to entail formal presentations of the various league awards, e.g. MVP (Most Valuable Player), MIP (Most Improved Player), Spirit winners, league winners etc. There will also be nibblies and a bartab provided, so you really don't want to miss it!!!
The venue is yet to be confirmed.

Once again, thanx to everyone that helped out with the leagues this season!
See you on the field!

Righto, let's deal with the important stuff first, there IS going to be free beer (and softdrinks) during the BPL (Brisbane Premier League) and WUFL (Womens Ultimate Frisbee League) Finals this Thu night (13th Apr).

Come on down to spectate, as it's sure to be a fantastic game. For those not familiar with the BPL it's the highest level of ultimate that is played in Brisbane, so come check it out!

Venue: Annerley Junior Soccer Club, Victoria Tce, Greenslopes
Time: Games start 7.30pm, finish 9pm (we have permission to have lights on later for finals night)
Teams: Whippett Good (defending champions, captained by Sean Flanagan) vs MB Bugg*rs (captained by Rueben Berg)

Game Format:
7.30pm - 9pm (with 5min warning at 8:55pm).
Game to 19, mirrored half at 10, 3 timeouts (max 2 per half, none after 8:55pm warning hooter).
Upon 9pm time-cap the 'within 1 add 1' rule will be enforced, during which any spare time-outs are then allowed.

Presentations:
As you would have seen already via email there will be no presentations at the end of the game Thu night.
Instead we're hosting an end of league party (probably at the 'Muddy Farmer' at Annerley) on Saturday the 29th April.
Presentations from the BPL, WUFL and the YUFL - Intermediate (Yeronga Ultimate Frisbee League - Intermediate) will be made during this event.
And for the lucky ultimate disc community there will of course be a BAR TAB !!!! :D
Further details on this event will come shortly.

That's all for now, I hope to see a HUGE crowd down at the fields Thu night!!
