Dear Friends and Colleagues,
I know some of you have already voted for me and some of you have difficulty
doing so. Thank you all for your support. I would like to appeal to each of you
again to vote for my entry in the Changemakers Mental Health Competition and to
ask all your friends, family and colleagues to do so as well. Remember each one
of your votes will count!!! There are only 3 Days left to Vote!!! I need your
votes desperately as I have only a handful of friends abroad and only few
Bhutanese are able to cast their vote online.
I know the procedure is not so simple and user friendly. And so I have developed
a step by step guideline for you to first register with Changemakers and then to
cast your vote below. I hope this is helpful. I have also attached this same
file for some of you who would like to download and refer to this as a seperate
piece.
1.Please click on the link below or type the web address on the address bar.
2.http://www.changemakers.com/en-us
3.Scroll down the page and select Last Chance to Vote (middle choice) and click
on Rethinking mental health (which is marked in red).
4.New page is displaced with Icon saying Vote Now – click on it.
5.After that, Scroll down the page and there is a box saying Finalist- sign in
or register to vote (in red) – click on it
6.A window appears with a caption “Notifications” click on the red coloured
cross (X)
7.Another window is open with the message Login to changemakers
8.Under this, Click on New user? Create an account here Instead of log in
9.Security information comes up now and then, which says this page contains both
secure and non-secure items, Do you want to display the non-secure items? You
can click either Yes or No (Ignore this step if this security info does not come
up in some websites)
10. Then, another window will come with heading Changemakers – Create a New
Account
11. Fill up the four blank spaces marked in * (red), after that copy the given
words in the blank spaces below and click on create new account
12. Next, another “Notification” appears, which informs you that further
instructions will be given in your email. You will receive an email in your
email inbox (the email address that you gave while creating the changmaker
account). But remember if your email is on the highest security and filters out
all junk mail, this email may not appear on your inbox, in which case you may
have to revisit your email security to allow this email.
13. Open your email account – a username and password is given
14. Click on the link given in your email for activating your changmaker
account…
15. New window Changemakers appear, click on the box log in
16. Notifications box appears, click on the (X)
17. Then re-set your new password and confirm, then scroll down to the bottom
of page and click Save and Go to Section box
18. It is not compulsory for you to fill in every detail…go to the end of each
page and save (repeat five or six times the save after each page refreshed with
new entry forms)
19. The another Notifications box appear, click on the (X)
20. Next, Click on the tab competition between the menu home and groups.
21. At the right hand lower corner of the small box with “We Media Pitch!
Challenge” there are small picture icons with left and right red arrow keys
like these: < > …click on the right arrow (>) key three times till you reach
the RETHINKING MENTAL HEALTH – IMPROVING COMMUNITY WELLBEING.
22. Click on the icon vote now.
23. Then in the same page, Scroll down the page and cast three votes…..please
choose the first as being for Promoting Mental Health Treatment in traditional
Bhutanese society – BHUTAN
24. Remember if you don’t vote for three, your vote will not be accepted. You
can revise your vote later if you want to after reading the entries.
25.Then finally log out or close the window. Thank you for your patience and
support to me.
Thank you all once again,
With warm regards,
Chencho

Hello dear Adnrew and Jeny, Kate and Steve, Wendy, and Dylan,
Hello there, how are you people? As you are aware, Ugyen and I are
leaving tonight to Sydney from where we will fly off to Bhutan, I
just like to leave a few words here: thank you much for whatever you
people had done to us. Indeed, I enjoyed you people's company
especially those get-together parties. I would love to have more of
them but unfortunately time had come for me to leave now. I hope we
will meet again, perhaps when you people visit Bhutan or could be
vise-versa as well. Please keep in touch as I will do so as well.
Thank you once again and wish you all the best in whatever endeavour
you people undertake. For now, its bye.
With kind regards,
Thukten Choeda
My husband is an Australian Citizen. He visited Bhutan in February of
this year, and worked as an advisor at BBS, Bhutan Broadcasting
Service). BBS has few trained journalists and is working on revitalizing
the radio programming.
Jon Domagala has just retired after 30 years work at CBC, Canadian
Broadcasting Corporation, and therefore has so much to offer the BBS.
(He
has lived in Canada, yet visits Australia often, where his family still
lives.) He worked at BBS on a volunteer basis this time, but has been
asked
to return to work closely with the journalists there, especially in the
radio service. Jon earned many awards for his documentary sound work on
CBC television and radio. He is a technical sound specialist and has
worked as Associate Producer on CBC radio as well.
He is looking for funding towards airfare from Halifax-Paro-Halifax. I
work in Bhutan for several months a year, on the Thangka Conservation
Project under the Ministry for Home and Cultural Affairs so his living
expenses are taken care of while in Thimphu. I will return this coming
winter for two months, and Jon hopes to find a fund to assist with his
airfare so that he can return to work at BBS.
Please be so kind as to discuss this with your association, and if you
require further information, please contact us at this email address,

Hi, everyone in Adelaide,
I am Dr. Chencho Dorji and I worked and lived in
Adelaide in 1998-1999 thanks to Andrew and Jenny's
efforts. I remember our families get-together, the
picnic and enjoying the symphony under the stars then.
That night also happened to be my call duty in the
hospital and soon after the symphony i.e. arounf 11 PM
I had to rush back to attend to a patient. I have
great memories of that event as well as about others
in Adelaide. I am sure all of you will enjoy this
great event.
Have a happy Chinese New Year! Ours will be following
next month, but we have a day off on Monday to
celebrate the Eastern Bhutan New Year and one month
ago we had the Haap-Parop Lomba and Sha-Wang Nyinlo.
This is a busy festive season for everyone and I am
sure everyone is enjoying it. We are having lots of
Arra out here and I am sure you are drinking a lot of
SA wines down under.
With best wishes,
Dr. Chencho Dorji from Thimphu

Hi, everyone.
We (Wendy, Andrew, Jenny, Kate and Dylan) are trying to organize to meet
everyone at the Symphony under the Stars concert in Elder Park next
Saturday evening - 4th Feb. This is a free concert with a fireworks display as
well. It is always a very enjoyable evening. We all take some food, drinks and
a rug to sit on and have a picnic before the concert then sit back and enjoy the
music and fireworks. It is a free event, held in the park next to the Festival
Centre and alongside the Torrens River in the middle of Adelaide. Usually
about 20,000 people attend so we have to organize where and when to meet.
I have emailed some of you already but haven't heard back. I have also been
trying to ring Kinzang and Norbu on your mobiles but haven't got through. It
would be good if one of the Bhutanese student group could ring me and we
could talk more about it. My phone number is 8388 5634.
I hope to hear from you soon
Andrew and Jenny Biven
