Changing Manager Password   Message List

Dear All,

An issue has been raised that some sites are not able to log onto or update the manager password for the AllTalk server.

Symptom:  Attempting to open the Manager mailbox results in Error 550 - Unknown Error "0"

The problem is that quite often, during the trial period, a "Temporary" domain is configured for the testing process.

When the system goes live, typically the Manager mailbox is simply copied to the live environment "as is." During the configuration process the temporay Domain is changed to the "Live" Domain name.  This leaves the manager's ACI domain details out of sync with the server's domain.

Now because AllTalk supports multiple domains, when you attempt to log on as Manager, AllTalk will automatically hunt for the manager password in ALL domains - that is why it is possible to still log on and manage other accounts.  However when you attempt to access the actual Manager account, AllTalk cannot find the correct ACI file for the default domain and returns the "0" error.

Resolution:

In windows explorer, navigate to and open the AllTalk manager's Mailbox folder

1. Change the name of the mangagers ACI file to include the correct DOMAIN name.
2. Change the "TheirDomain" parameter to the correct domain
3. confirm that the "IPAddress" parameter is set correctly for the "REAL" (public) IP address.

Save changes.

(if you have trouble with any of the values, look at the domain name and IP in a recently created AllTalk account)

Glen.
