The Australian Microscopy and Microanalysis Research Facility (AMMRF)
provides a grid of advanced microscopy and microanalysis facilities with
nodes in major capital cities and formal links to specialist facilities
through Linked Laboratory relationships. With a focus on microscopy,
imaging, spectroscopy, analysis and diffraction, the organisation
creates collaborations to explore and define the structure-function
relationships that enable innovation and discovery in nanotechnology and
biotechnology.

The AMMRF was established in 2007 under the Commonwealth of Australia's
National Collaborative Research Infrastructure Strategy (NCRIS). The
investment provides funding for a suite of flagship instrumentation and
for support engineers and scientists to ensure that the potential of the
techniques is fully realised and accessible to all Australian publicly
funded researchers.

In addition to the state-of-the-art flagship instrumentation, the AMMRF
provides access to some of the most advanced facilities in the world for
microscopy and microanalysis, including more than 140 other significant
instruments as well as specimen preparation laboratories and data
analysis systems. Over 100 scientists, engineers and technicians form a
collaborative national staff cohort operating a premium microscopy and
microanalysis research facility.

The AMMRF is headquartered at the Australian Key Centre for Microscopy
and Microanalysis (AKCMM) in The University of Sydney. The AKCMM is a
major contributor to the University's research output, and plays a vital
role in supporting the research community through the provision of
(microscopy-based) expertise, laboratories, training, award courses,
consulting, external services and local research.

To advance our research services, research programs and research
training, the Key Centre is seeking to recruit a Biomolecular Imaging
Specialist. You will provide the local and national user communities
with technical support for research programs based generally on
structure-function relationships in physical, chemical, biological and
other systems. This exciting position requires a commitment to technical
excellence and will expose the appointee to cutting-edge research and
development in biotechnology and nanotechnology. This position offers
great opportunities to get involved in a range of research projects
across discipline and faculty boundaries and to join a team that has an
international reputation for excellence at the cutting edge of research
and user experience.

You will be a self-motivated person with excellent interpersonal and
team working skills. You will provide leadership and coordination for
the Molecular Preparation Laboratory, Cell Culture Laboratory and the
Cryo-Preparation Laboratory of the AKCMM and will provide user-support
in specimen preparation for correlative microscopy projects,
incorporating various light-optical and electron microscopy techniques.
In creating effective outcomes for users (i.e.) researchers at various
levels of their careers, the successful applicant will operate, instruct
and teach various specimen preparation techniques, light and electron
microscopy techniques.

In addition, we expect that the successful applicant will pursue
approved scientific research related to the development of microscopy
and microanalysis techniques in collaboration with the Centre's
academic staff. You will also provide strategic support to the
Laboratory Manager and Director on matters concerning microscopy and
analysis, particularly in terms of the performance of and synergies
between laboratory activities at Sydney and with other nodes of the
AMMRF.

This position is full-time fixed term for three years subject to the
completion of a satisfactory probation period for new appointees.

working skills to manage and co-ordinate our TEM facilities. The
successful candidate will be a part of a new and exciting microscopy
portfolio in the AKCMM that will focus on advanced 3D microscopy
techniques. We are seeking an experienced electron microscopist and
invite applications from candidates with a strong background in TEM,
including the preparation of cells, tissue and use of tomographic
techniques. We are seeking applicants that have the capacity to interact
with our users and user groups within The University of Sydney and the
AMMRF in the planning and prosecution of their projects. In addition, we
expect that the successful applicant will pursue approved scientific
research related to the development of 3D-EM (cryo) imaging and analysis
techniques in collaboration with the Centre's academic staff. You
will also provide strategic support to the Laboratory Manager and
Director on matters concerning microscopy and analysis, particularly in
terms of the performance of and synergies between laboratory activities
at Sydney and with other nodes of the AMMRF.

This position is full-time fixed term for three years subject to the
