Afternoon Ralph,
Living only few minutes from Brookton Hwy, I sort of talked my hubby into
going for a walk up in the hills in few weeks, he is building boats at the
moment. My oldest boy wants to climb Mt Dale, but my hubby has found Mount
Cooke, which is not that much further. Any the upshot is my hubby has
borrowed my b-i-l GPS and we are plotting it and try to arrange a time to do
it. My hubby likes to plan and so forth, so it could be a while.. It comes
from being in the SES and being on too many searches for people who have
failed to do...

Hello Debbie,
Welcome to the group.
The maintainer of this site, Andrew and I just got back from a Geo Cashing
walk along the Bibbulmun Track late this evening.
Feel free to bring up any bushwalking related topic you wish. The more who
ask questions or pass on tips or concerns the better the site. Andrew wants
it to be used by all members, a sort of chat site.
Once again, Welcome
Cheers
Ralph

Morning All,
I just thought I would introduce my self. I am Debbie, and I live in the
south eastern suburbs of Perth West Australia. I am mum of three (the oldest
is 12 down to youngest is 8 on Monday). I enjoy walking, love walking in
the Perth Hills. My kids sail during summer and my hubby drops me in Perth,
where I walk for about 4 hours or so, then I walk from Perth, up Jacobs
Ladder (message to self it is not wise to buy the book of world records and
then climb Jacobs ladder) or the Kokoda Track, if it is really hot, and walk
through Kings Park, and down to the university, via the Crawly steps.
Sometimes I catch the train to Subi and walk from Subi, through Kings Park
and down to Matilda Bay, but it depends if it is hot.
My hubby on the other hand is not much into walking (too busy working). But
I would like to get more into the great outdoors more.
I also believe that my great-great-great grandmother and her children
(numbering 5 or 6 kids, records in 1835 are not clear), either walked or had
a carriage for a journey from King George Sound ( now called Albany ) to
Guildford, she joined my great-great-great grandfather who arrived in WA in
1831, who arrived on the second ship to WA. My guess is they followed the
Bibbulmun Track all those years ago, I could just imagine this Lady from
Wales, in her long flowing dress and the kids in their best whites
undertaking a journey like that, in the February heat.
Anyway that is about it from me.
Debbie
