Hi Drew,
The best suggestion that I can make if you do not wish to join a bushwalking
club is to contact The Bibbulmun Foundation 1st Floor Mountain Designs
Adventure Building 862 Hay St.862 Hay St .Perth. Ph. 9481 0551
Email: friends@...
Website: www.bibbulmuntrack.org.au <http://www.bibbulmuntrack.org.au/>
You can become a member for $40 per year and get all the help you want. They
also organize a calendar of events where there different guided walks that
will give you a feel for the bush and safety issues then you can launch out
on your own.
A reputable camping shop will help with your requirements, such as Mountain
Designs, Main Peak, Snowgum and Paddy Pallin. They value their reputation so
you will not be given a "bum steer". There are the next grade of quality
equipment from places such as The Great Outdoors in Vic. Park, the Ranger
Stores and Camping World stores. The latter are good if you have a limited
budget but some of their gear does tend to be a tad on the heavy side. (I am
thinking of hauling it on ones back) .
Get out there and enjoy the bush and the wonderful wildflowers that are out
now.
Cheers
Ralph
