Hi All

I've been lurking on this list for a little while now just getting to
know the feel of the group. Its been informative and I've appreciated
what I've been able to learn in that time. I thought it was about time
to say hi and introduce myself.

My name is Paul. I live north of the river in Perth. During the day,
I'm a Computer Programmer.

Currently walking for me and my wife is limited to day walks. We are
in the process of equipping ourselves for hiking/camping. We've
finally just about got all the gear now. However, my wife has recently
fallen pregnant so I'm not so sure how she feels about camping now. I
may have to go with my mates.

On another matter, I've been toying with purchasing a GPS for
Christmas and indulging in a bit of geocaching. Does anyone here
recommend any particular makes and models? From what research I've
done, it seems Garmin are the most popular.

Also, I've noticed a huge difference in price between the Australian
models and importing them (particularly on the higher priced units).
Has anyone here imported one? Are there any gotchas that I need to
look out for (aside from warranty). If anyone has any experience with
the GST / duties side I'd also be interested in hearing about this.

Anyway, its work time here so I'd better get back to it :-)

Thanks in advance for any info about the GPS's.

Paul
