Re: [Aushiker] PBW: Introductory Backpack Details

Lo Andrew,
Duh ! I'm experienced, as you know, however I'd like to offer my services to
assist you, or just tag along and assist where required, if that's OK with you.
Regards Eddy.

Subject: [Aushiker] PBW: Introductory Backpack Details

Hi

For those interested, the following notice is to be published in
forthcoming issues of the Perth Bushwalkers Club newsletter, the
Venturer. Please note that this Introductory Backpack is only available
for Club members. Any Club members on this list, interested in this program
should contact me directly at aushiker@....

WANT TO GO ON A PACK CARRY (BACKPACK) BUT DON'T KNOW WHERE TO START?

Help is at hand! Andrew Priest (with support from some experienced and fun
club members is offering an Introductory Backpack weekend walk and training
session for Club members who have no pack-carry experience, but want to
extend their walk experience to backpacking.

The training program will be held over two sessions. The first session
will involve a Saturday morning where you learn about how to pack your
rucksack, what to take and what to leave behind, tips and hints and ideas
on food.

This first session will be followed two weeks later by a weekend backpack
in the Murray Valley region. This is will be a easy-medium on-track walk
into the Nanga Mill area where we will tent or bivvy camp on the Saturday
night.

The dates are:

Session 1: Saturday, June 14, 2003. 9:00 AM to 12:00 NOON.
Session 2: Saturday Sunday, June 28 29, 2003. Weekend backpacking in the
Murray Valley.

Attendance at the first session will be required to participate in the
program.

Places will be strictly limited to nine walkers. Interested persons,
should express your interest ASAP to Andrew at aushiker@.... I
anticipate that the program will fill very quickly. The deadline for
joining the program is noon on June 7, 2003.

Email access is desirable as reading material will be provided prior to the
first session.

The Club has various items of equipment for hire (see this Venturer or
April's Venturer). Past experience suggests that this gear goes quickly,
so if you want to borrow gear from the Club please contact the Equipment
Officer ASAP. I may also be able to help out with some gear at Club rates
if you are desperate!

If you are unsure as to what gear you may need, please contact me via email
ASAP.
