Hi, I'm looking for some feedback on the best way to do part of the Larapinta
Trail. [I was
trying to organise the Kimberley- Mitchell Plateau but the logistics of
organising it are
fairly horrendous, not to mention expensive - ~$3000 return just getting there
from Perth]
I've got 9 days - Fri pm to Sun pm the following week. What I thought was - fly
in to Alice
springs Fri pm - food drop the next day at Standley chasm then
day 1. Ellery Ck Bighole to Rocky Gully
day 2. Rocky Gully to Hugh Gorge
day 3. Hugh gorge to birthday waterhole [ 11.7 km and 11 hrs? - must be
difficult terrain]
day 4. Birthday waterhole to Standley Chasm
day 5 Standley Chasm to jay creek
day 6. jay creek to Mulga camp
day 7. Mulga camp to Simpsons gap --> pickup --> back to Alice Springs
Is this the best bit to do or would it be better to start at Red bank gorge?
I'd be very grateful for any constructive advice, I know some of you have done
this already.
Alex
