Hi Christo
Water currently is good at all the huts in this section. However, I
would carry a stocking just in case the larvae start showing up once
things warm up. The Donnelly River is flowing really well at present.
I am carrying a mozzie net, but haven't used it. My inclination would
be to use the inner of a tent in future, particularly in warmer
months just to get whatever air flow is around. On the ground bunks
and the middle floor space in the Deep South huts it would be more
difficult to string up a mozzie net.
As to stringing up foods and packs. My practice is to string up my
food bags at all huts now. I do my pack if there are signs or
comments re mice or rats. Until Tom Road I hadn't had much problem
and no problems since Pemberton. You are right - it should be
standard practice.
Just make sure you don't string things up close to walls or beams and
make sure the string is long enough so that Ronald can't stretch down
to reach you pack etc. I would also suggest NOT leaving food in your
pack unless you want holes in it!
Speaking to CALM Pemberton, they are going to try and trap the rats
at Boarding House and Beedelup.
Also Tom Road to Boarding House is harder than the profile chart
implies :-)
Cheers
Andrew
