Hi
I received the following email from Steve Langlands @ Australian Maritime
Safety Authority (AMSA). It has passed on for your information.

Email from Steve Langlands is as follows:
A number of issues have been raised by people who represent the likely
users of your Web sites. In particular the issue dealing with the use of
PLBs by bushwalkers is ongoing with a lesser issue of ground-air signals
being raised periodically. To cater for these issues, "headlines" sections
have been developed on the two sites for Beacons and the National Search
and Rescue Council hosted by AMSA.
The first issue is being continually discussed on one or two of the
bushwalking type chat pages. The issue relates to the use of PLBs - often
referred to as EPIRBS, the term used for marine beacons - and the likely
action, or inaction, that RCC Australia takes. This is the first of the
issues tackled on the beacons page: www.amsa.gov.au/beacons
The other issue that has been highlighted on the NATSAR Web site relates to
the confusion about certain ground to air signals to be used by a ground
party to convey simple messages to search and rescue aircraft. This has
been tackled on the NATSAR site: www.amsa.gov.au/natsar/index.shtm
I was hoping that you might highlight these Web Sites for the information
of your users.
