Hello
CALM Media release follows:

Department of Conservation and Land Management fire crews and local
volunteer bush fire brigades have contained a fire that has burnt through
more than 300 hectares of Mt Lesueur National Park, north- east of Jurien
Bay overnight (March 20, 2004).
The fire began at 6.30pm yesterday and was caused by a lightening strike of
the eastern side of Mt Lesueur. CALM, FESA and volunteer fire crews worked
overnight to track and contain the fire on the west, south and eastern
boundaries. At first light this morning containment of the northern
boundary was achieved.
CALM Fire Incident Controller Kelly Gillen said fire crews would work
through today to consolidate the boundaries and keep the fire within
containment lines.
"This is extremely important considering today's expected weather
conditions of 40 degree temperatures and a strong south-westerly wind
change this afternoon," he said.
"These weather conditions means there is significant potential for
flare-ups and severe fire behaviour and we will be keeping a close eye on
containment lines and any flare-ups will be targeted immediately."
Mr Gillen said Mt Lesueur National Park was recognised as a hotspot for
flora diversity in the southwest botanical province.

For those interested, Mt Lesueur National Park offers some interesting
walking. Note however, that there is no water available in the park.
Regards
Andrew
