Dear All
I am putting the following walk on the Perth Bushwalkers Club program
for February 2006. Interested members and non-members should contact
me ASAP to book a place. Oh BTW for those interested in geocaching
the opportunity will be there to pick up two maybe three geocaches as well.

FEBRUARY 18 - 19, 2006 SHAKE OUT THOSE COBWEBS AT DARDANUP - Andrew
Priest 0428 570631
Continuing the tradition of the past three years (?) Andrew will be
again leading a social summer pack carry. This will be an easy walk
of about 6 km up in the Darling Ranges. The plan is to walk in (or if
you prefer ride (MTBs)) along the Munda Biddi Trail to the Dardanup
Campsite. We will head off from Perth mid Saturday afternoon. On
Sunday the opportunity will there to divert to the nearby Oakley Dam
for a swim before retiring to a nearby pub for lunch and
refreshments. As I said, a social backpack! :-) So if you are
interested in walking or bringing along your mountain bike for the
ride please contact Andrew at andrew@... to book a spot.
Andrew rates this walk as easy and good one for anyone interested in
getting a little taste of backpacking.

Hmmm.... reminds me of the Overland Track for 5 days in August 1994 except that
we had nice huts to sleep in with coal fires.
Thanks for the cooling thoughts Andrew!

Yep ... I would have put my tent up but I forgot the pegs ... problem
of sharing pegs between tents at the moment. How hard is it to lose a
bag of pegs at home!

Hey Andrew,
You reckon that hut's hot, try checking out the Munda Biddi trail hut at
Dwellingup.
Now THAT ONE'S H.O.T. the toilet's even got a window allowing viewing of
waterfall in creek alongside. Very picturesque.
The bike access is via trail from Dwellingup/Nanga camping area, take turn off
to STRINGERS, when coming to "Y" junction, go RIGHT and follow........
eventually you'll get to the hut well ticked away.
Course, if yu wanna cheat a bit, try Nanga Brook Rd until you reach Dawn Crk
turnoff on LHS, follow Dawn Creek until you reach "T" junction AFTER crossing
strong flowing creek, turn RIGHT, follow to camp site with Drop pit, (this is
usually the site we stay at) continue along rd following Munda Bidi markers to
Munda Biddi hut, approx 4 K's further in.
Cant' access Hut with car, must walk or bike 200 metres.
Great possibilities for backpack, I'd be more then interested should you feel
that way inclined.
Regards,
Eddy.

Thanks Mate.
That was the first time I have ever met him and we only had about 20 minutes
before the train left so I never asked him about the food he was mainly
asking me about the track conditions I told him about Conspicuous Bay
section being closed, well CALM say it is, probably to keep people away from
the contractor building the new boardwalk we took notice and bypassed the
area don't want to upset them they do a good job.
Anyway Tom was quite a nice bloke sounded like a very experienced walker.

Thanks Andrew for the photos. The hut is certainly different to the

I did not spot any flies in the photos that you complained about, so where
were they?<g>

Dear All
Last week I escaped the rat race for a couple of days geocaching just
out of Perth. For the night's camp, I took the opportunity to walk in
an check out a campsite on the partially completed mountain bike
trail, the Munda Biddi Trail. The trail will be about 900 km (560 mi)
long when finished. I have now uploaded a few photos of the campsite.
For those interested you will find them at

Members.
I went in on sunday morning with a gas bottle and a map book for Tom's
latest walk he comes from Queensland and couldn't carry gas on the
plane and his train was leaving for Bunbury at 9-30 am on a sunday
morning and anybody living in Perth knows nothing is open at that time
hence the problem of obtaining items we sure don't cater for tourists
in our little city.
Anyway the point is if any members from overseas or interstate needs a
hand to obtain anything for their walk give me a ring and if I'm not
out there myself I will do my best to help you, I'm retired and don't
have any affiliation with any commercial business just a nice bloke,
Yeh, Right !
Thanks.

Thanks, Harry
