The Bibbulmun Track office advises the following track information:

Latest Track Conditions, Realignments, Diversions and Inlet Crossings

There are several realignments and diversions currently in place along the
length of the Track. Please be particularly aware of sections planned for
prescribed burns as they may involve Track closures and lengthy diversions.
If you are planning a walk on any section please go to the Latest
<http://www.bibbulmuntrack.org.au/track-info/Track-Conditions.aspx> Track
Conditions link on our website or contact the local
<http://www.bibbulmuntrack.org.au/contact/Other-Useful-Contacts.aspx> DEC
Office.

There are two diversions south of Dwellingup due to prescribed burning. The
first is a diversion from the Visitors Centre in Town and the second is from
Swamp Oak Campsite, south to Yarragil Form. Each of these diversions add
some distance. No campsites have been affected. You can download the maps
by visiting our Track
<http://www.bibbulmuntrack.org.au/track-info/Track-Conditions/Diversions.asp
x> conditions webpage.

There is a planned burn between Collie and Balingup resulting in a Bibbulmun
Track diversion. Once again visit our Track
<http://www.bibbulmuntrack.org.au/track-info/Track-Conditions/Diversions.asp
x> conditions webpage.

A wildfire which broke out over the weekend of 24 & 25 November 2007 has
burnt about 400m of Track immediately south of Northcliffe near Wheatley
Coast Rd. DEC are continuing to mop up the fire and will re-mark the Track
as soon as possible. Walkers are asked to take extreme caution on this
section as the trail is not clear and there are several fire breaks in the
area.

Thanks Everyone for your input. I feel that spending huge amounts on a
tent might be overkill. I am just the occasional wanderer, not by
choice, and can never see myself needing a tent more than seldom.

I didn't realise that it was 500g or so heavier than better models.

Is the hubba so far superior that it is going to last longer or better?

Ok I am off to read BBGT to research tents more closely.

Thanks

Rosemary

Hmm. I'll have to try that next time. Sounds much easier than the
straight tweezers technique. I'm still fighting with a bite from
early August that I acquired while geocaching.

Hi Rosemary,

If it helps we have 25% off everything in store for Club members, including
tents, until Sunday?? Denali is Anaconda's home brand, it's their budget
brand that they can special off. Personally, I really like the MSR Hubba
range of tents.

Cheers,
Mike

Hi Rosemary,

It is an American product but probably made in China.

The company is ALPS.

For a single person tent with two layers, an inner which is entirely meshed
and an outer fly of polyester is a tad heavy at 1.9 kg. The preferred fly
should be silnylon but the price jumps up dramatically and the weight
reduces dramatically also.

However, at the price that you quote and for use in summer this tent should
do the job. I am not familiar with it as I have never set eyes on it.

Go to the following link to have a bit of a look,

http://www.amazon.com/dp/B000MATC52?smid=A19XE0CFLN81HP
<http://www.amazon.com/dp/B000MATC52?smid=A19XE0CFLN81HP&tag=pricegrabber2-s
port-20&linkCode=asn> &tag=pricegrabber2-sport-20&linkCode=asn

There is the old adage of YGWYPF.

A few of us have walked on the Munda Biddi without seeing a bike rider. At
the moment, the track is vastly underused by the biking fraternity, IMO.
Andrew may correct that. If you want to walk on it, go for it.

Hope this helps.

Ralph

I just got the anaconda catalogue and saw a 1.9kg 1 person tent for
$89. It is the Denali zepher 1. I am thinking it might just do me when
I walk around WA. Has anyone had any experience with this tent or the
brand?

I usually shy away from cheaper gear should I still?

I just thought for the price and weight and considering the conditions
I will be using it in, it might do the trick.

Also Andrew can we walk the Munda Biddi without a bike? Or am I going
to get cleaned up on the track?

Cheers

Hi Rosemary,

You can easily walk the Munda Biddi, although not that exciting I hear for a
walker.

Check out the website, http://www.mundabiddi.org.au/ or go into their office
above Mountain Designs in town.

As for the tent, I personally think 1.9 is heavy, but if you are on a budget
then sounds ok.

Cheers
Mark

Hi Ralph
It has been itchy and very red, the mark is kinda oval shaped and goes
from deep red in the centre to faded red on the outer.
Today it is a lot better but they normally take weeks to heal

Hey Andrew,

Did the tick bite leave an itchy deep wound that shows no sign of healing
yet?

My tick bites take anywhere from three to six months to heal completely.

Hi All
I went out last weekend with Mark to hike the Ghost House Trail out
from Yanchep last weekend with a stop over night at Shapcott hut.
When I got back to the car I found I had a little black cling on.
At home after my shower I got a cotton ball and put a good dose of
nail polish remover on it and soaked the tick, I held the cotton on
for a little while and then removed the tick with tweezers. It came
out very easy and I would say he had let go of me because of just how
easy it came off.
The tick did not die from the remover as he was still crawling on my
hand, but Rhiannon made his life very short.
I will have to try again when I get another but it seemed much easier
than every other time I have had them.

All the best

G'day

The Munda Biddi Foundation has indicated in Messenger Issue Number 15 that
the Munda Biddi extension through to Nannup is to be completed early in
2008. They say that "construction of the trail and campsites is almost
complete." The new section is 150 km.

Ralph.
I had enough of flies at the moment and that snake was one of four we saw
the others took off before I could get the camera out.
The weather went from very hot to very cold just over a couple of days, this
was between Northcliffe and Walpole last week. I will be going back down to
Walpole next month but this time in the car the youngest son is coming home
from England for Xmas and wants to show his girlfriend some nice trees and
coastline she is from Canada.
No more walking till next year.
Thanks. Harry.

Harry,

Go to Prickly Bark on the Coastal Plain Trail.;

That is the nursery of flies for the Perth Region IMO.
