Hi all

I lost the count of ticks I had on my body. Last one was Roo tick on
near behind my knee last January. Had it removed by my GP due to the
difficult spot to remove on my own – anyway it became red and swollen
then went down. It was itchy for several weeks. Stopped except the
certain month it became itchy again for a couple of days or so then
stopped. Red spot is still there today.

GP used a straight tweezers technique. It was "hit or missed" to
remove and made the mess sometimes therefore it was not satisfied.
Believed that any alcohol liquid should not be used and will cause
the drugged tick to spill its glands liquid inside the skin. However
I respect if any of you have the different opinion or it works well
with you.

Ticked Off Remover is highly recommended for use. Further info can
be found at www.tickedoff.com

Carole

G'day Andrew,

not sure about this yet. On the ride I was actually talking to Robin and Perry
about a walk in FRNP at about the same time (September school holidays) but was
going to send an email to a few people to see who may be interested.

Will let you know.

BTW - how is the heart? Hope all is well.

Merry Christmas,
Alan

Hi Dorothea
I am very interested in your Camino walk but I am not a PBW member so I
will miss out on any talk given there. Could you tell me how many days
you walked, where you started and ended and if you had any support? Any
info is much appreciated.

Regards Sue

Dear Andrew
I walked the Camino in Spain last April/ May 2007. It was fantastic,
beyond words. We have many beautiful slides, if you want any
information, I have quite a bit. I am also happy to give a talk at PBW
meeting, I am a member, if other bushies are interested???? I have not
been to any club meetings for a little while, since I returned from
Europe. Cheers Dorothea

Indeed, Andrew.

So far as I am aware, there is NO sand walking anywhere on the Camino!

Subject: [Aushiker] Planned Walks and Rides for 2008

G'day

Just a heads-up for those interested about my planned rides and walks for
early part of 2008. All activities will be run under the auspices of the
Perth Bushwalkers Club and further details will be provided closer to the
time.

February 16 - 18, 2008 - Social Summer Backpack into Murray Valley Campsite.
This is my annual easy backpack which we normally do Saturday afternoon into
Sunday morning. An opportunity to shake out those cobwebs and get a taste of
backpacking if you haven't been before. Nothing hard and hopefully a
swimming opportunity.

March 15 - 16, 2008 - Mountain Bike ride of the Kep Track from Northam to
Mundaring. Details to be sorted but this will be an overnight ride either
camping along the track or in Northam before heading back to Perth. We will
likely get the train up to Northam.

April 12 - 20, 2008 - Munda Trail - Mundaring to Collie (mountain biking).
Again details to be finalised but the plan is to complete at least the first
stage of the Munda Biddi.

May 31- June 1, 2008 - Avon Valley Weekend Backpack. The plan here is to
explore some parts of the south-west of the park, picking up some geocaches
along the way. This will involve a fair bit of off-track walking and there
will be a need to carry water for the Saturday night camp. It will be an
early start Saturday morning.

Regards
Andrew

G'day

As promised please find the walk description for my February 2007 backpack.

The tradition continues. Once again as February is upon us, do you thoughts
turn to backpacking? Too hot you say? Well maybe this is the walk for you.
More a social event than a major backpack, but a pack-carry all the same
that makes the most of daylight saving and gives you the chance to meet up
with folks, to shake off those cobwebs and maybe try your hand at
backpacking. What is planned is an easy on track walk into a Bibbulmun
Track campsite (Murray River Campsite) with the opportunity (subject to
water levels) of a swim or two in the Murray River. We will head off from
Perth mid-Saturday afternoon to drive to our starting point where we will
walk about 4 km into the campsite. On Sunday once we have finished swimming
we will walk out to the cars and then head into Dwellingup to enjoy the
Dwellingup pub lunch menu. We will return to Perth mid Sunday afternoon.
Andrew rates this walk easy and very much a social event (don't forget the
refreshments!) and a good one for both old and new backpackers. Please

Hi Andrew,

My long-range plan is to be walking the Camino in Spain about that time,
but if that falls through (as it has done for the last couple of years),
I will certainly pencil in the Cape to Cape with you good people.

I will know in the next month or so whether the Camino is on or not (it
depends on flights, etc).

Cheers, Tony

G'day

Ralph has reminded me that I forgot to include the Cape to Cape Track in
my list of walks planned for 2008. So here goes Ralph and to anyone
else who may want to come and needs to book hols well in advance.

The plan at this stage is to walk the Track in the between September 27
to October 4, 2008 (or September 28 to October 5, 2008). Full details to
be provided further on. If you are interested you can let me know by
email and I will add you to the mailing list for the walk.

Oh, we will probably walk north to south to enjoy the prevailing
headwinds but hopefully firmer beaches :).

Hello.

I am heading down to Albany for the week. Not really a hiking trip,
but we would like to do a daywalk or 2. And mostly hang out at Two
Peoples bay snorkelling.

Does anyone have any recomendations for day walks, snorkel spots and
also recommendations for campsites (both caravan park and free ones).

Also recommendations for free (or non-caravan park) campsites in
Walpole, Pemberton, as we may swing by those places on the way back.

Thanks.
Jeff

If you?re on the trail of something great, then Trails WA wants to hear
about it.

Nominations are now being taken for WA?s Top Trails and all are invited
to nominate those they believe provide the best experiences for visitors.

The best trails in each region of WA will be promoted to potential
visitors from Australia and overseas.

Walk, bike, canoe, equestrian, snorkel, dive and drive trails are all
eligible for entry.

Trails are fast being recognised as an effective way of contributing
towards the social and physical wellbeing of Western Australians.

From the world famous Bibbulmun Track that stretches nearly 1000
kilometres from Kalamunda to Albany, to the smaller series of 10
Fremantle Trails leading visitors through the historic port town, trails
have become an activity of choice for locals and tourists alike.

But it is also those lesser known ?best kept secrets? that Trails WA
wants to hear about.

So if there is a particular trail that you would recommend to a friend
visiting WA to provide a memorable and enjoyable experience, visit
www.trailswa.com.au <http://www.trailswa.com.au> and nominate it.

Nominations close on January 31, 2008.

Additional information on trails including locations, tips events and
maps is also available on the website.

Hi Neville,

The Alpine Way is a beautiful walk, I used to kayak up there in my teenage
years, the Howqua, the Ovens, the Delatite, the Big, plus many others.
Presume you're not doing it in the summer? Have fun. You doing the whole
trip?

Cheers,
Mike

Please
email Andrew at  <blocked::mailto:Andrew@...> Andrew@...
if you want more details or to be pencilled in for the walk.

Regards

Andrew

Harriet.
If you send me your address offline I will send you a disc by Airmail of
Large format photos of some of our walks on the track.
I walk most of the time with my wife Margaret and you will see her in some
of the photos you can also go to the files for some small format photos of
our walks.
Won't cost you anything for the disc and I am not in any kind of business
(my wife and I are retired) just like to see people use the track and come
to West Australia.
Best Regards.
Neville.
