I stumbled upon this site Walking with Attidude the other day and saw
they have a virtual challenge to walk the bib with the 10 yr
anniversary walkers.

You have to pay a nonimal $10 to join in the walk with $2 going to the
bib track. Then walk 10000 steps or convert exercise mins to steps and
virtually walk along side the actual walkers. You get updates on the
features that you pass thru. Not sure how often though.

I am in for the challenge. Sounds like fun. I wish I could have the
time to walk it end to end for real so for me this is a way I can join
in.

I am not affiliated with this site but just thought others might be
interested.

I've just joined the group after being directed here by Rick on the
Tracks4Australia group. I had posted about the Coastal Plain walk trail
above Perth, looking for info. I see you have some waypoints on the
website, and I think I will make it my mission to get some more in the

I walked the Yaberoo Budjara a couple of weeks ago and have sent the

No probs. Give me a buzz before you do and I'll make sure that either I'm
here or someone that can help you.

Have you looked at the One Planet packs? We are the agent for them in WA
now, they are excellent packs. And still Australian made, very unusual.

Hi All
I am looking at getting my ten year old daughter her first real pack.
I am looking at about the 35L range and of cause it must be light weight.
I do not want to spend too much as she may out grow it before it wears
out :)

So can anyone recommend a suitable pack available in Perth?

Thanks
Andrew

Hi
I have had another look and while it is possible to take all of those waypoints

Sorry for the late reply and not being able to make the walk, works been pretty
tight.

The link for the page on walk gps is:
http://www.walkgps.com/useful_links_and_resources.htm#Walking%20SW%20corner

The link to the points is in the following section;
"Beyond the perth region"
then "Walking the South West corner"
and under this headding there is "Also see WalkGPS Google Map showing 80
location
points along the Track. (Use zoom ladder for map detail and select 'Hybrid' to
add
satellite imagery)."
The wording "WalkGPS Google Map" is a link to a page with the waypoints listed
on
it.
Any ideas how to get a reading off them?

Cheers,
Tonks

*Subject:* Fwd: Ranger Camping's Returns/Refund Policy

Dear Ms Edwards

Today I emailed your O'Connor store requesting a copy of your company's
Returns/Refund policy. I requested a copy of your company's return/refund
policy and got instead a response about a Mr Simpson whom I don't know, nor
did I ask for any information about.

The attached document indicates and I quote, "Ranger Outdoors does have a
fair and reasonable cash refunds policy which protects their interests
including full refunds" yet when requested, a copy of the policy is not
forthcoming. It therefore raises the question. Does Ranger Camping in fact
have a policy? If yes, why is that policy not being made available to
customers (and yes I am a customer)?

The response from oconnor@... leaves a lot to be desired
Ms Edwards and does nothing to reassure me that Ranger Company has a fair
and reasonable returns policy or that I should trust Ranger Company in the
future.

I look forward to your response and I hope a copy of your actual policy.

Regards
Andrew Priest

Dear Ms Edwards

Today I emailed your O'Connor store requesting a copy of your company's
Returns/Refund policy. I received in response, instead unaddressed and
unsigned email from oconnor@... with the attached
document. The email showed a lack of professionalism and manners. It was not
addressed to me, even though I took the trouble of providing my name and yes
I do prefer my name to be used. I am a person with a name Ms Edwards. The
email was also unsigned, which is also showing a lack of manners and
courtesy to me. Most disappointing indeed.

The above notwithstanding, I requested a copy of your company's
return/refund policy and got instead a response about a Mr Simpson whom I
don't know, nor did I ask for any information about.

The attached document indicates and I quote, "Ranger Outdoors does have a
fair and reasonable cash refunds policy which protects their interests

Dear All

FYI, this is the document I received from Ranger Camping in reponse to my
request for a copy of their Refunds/Returns Policy:

*REFUND AND EXCHANGE POLICY*
*An Important Message for all our Customers*
Ranger Outdoors prides itself on its products and customer service.
Unfortunately an incident occurred in our O'Connor store recently regarding
our Refunds and Exchange
policy with a customer, Mr Ray Simpson.
This resulted in a wide distribution of an email by Mr Simpson. Some Ranger
Outdoors customers have
been telling us that they are concerned about our Refunds and Exchange
Policy as result of receiving
this email.
Let me state the following facts:
  •
A misunderstanding did initially occur with Mr Ray Simpson. This was
regrettable, we have
apologised to Mr Simpson and have offered to do whatever he needs in order
to settle this
matter to his satisfaction, and we will continue to make that offer to him.
  •
All of our customers can be assured that Ranger Outdoors does have a fair
and reasonable cash
refunds policy which protects their interests including full refunds.
Our existing Refund Policy already meets what is required under consumer
protection laws,
however we are committed to making it better and the policy is currently
under review to ensure it
is consistent with the expectations of our customers.
We will also be working to improve the communicating of our refunds policy
to our customers to
make sure this sort of unfortunate misunderstanding does not happen again.
If you need more information on these matters please contact:

Ranger Outdoors was founded in Perth just over 24 years ago. With very
humble beginnings – our
growth to become Western Australia's leading retailer of outdoor products
and accessories is built on
fairness and value in serving our customers' outdoors needs – that will
never change as our number one
priority.
I can assure you that all the team at Ranger Outdoors will continue to work
as hard as we can to provide
better customer service, quality products and the best possible prices in
all of our stores for all of our
customers.

I attach the response from Ranger Camping O'Connor for your information that
was sent to me.

Please feel free to take up their offer.

It would be nice to have the actual "Refund Policy"

"Anyone that wants to know what our refund policy is and what actually
happened please email us asking at oconnor@... and we

          Thank You."

There was no name with the above apart from the email address which had
"tloadin".

No, you convince the salesman that he should recommend the one that you think
will be the one that you want, then it is still his recommendation, and you have
a legal comeback (abet through the courts). (hopefully the one you have
researched should match the salesman's recommendation - if both of you have the
same level of knowledge - the salesman's should know their product - a sad
lacking now days with shops having sales assistances who know how to drive the
till, and that's about the limit of their product knowledge)

Only if they inform you that the one you intend to purchase is not fit for
purpose (ie buying high heeled shoes for hiking) then they are off the hook. Of
course a good lawyer is an advantage, but the you have spent more than the goods
are worth, but this is a good practice when buying high priced ticket items such
as a car or boat. You may even be able to claim damages as well as the refund of
the full purchase price. Remember that common sense isn't that common.

The best trick is to get an under-aged person ((legal age which is now 16 for
the credit act) - and they are allowed to lie about their age,) to buy it on
credit - then unless it is a necessity for their income (not lifestyle) then
they get to keep the item and not pay for it. (again a good lawyer is an
advantage - but in this case its up to the credit company to make them pay
thought the legal system.) Over 16 and you can sue them for non payment. (hence
the reason for guarantors for juveniles)

Cheers,

Rob (Geraldton)

   Hi Rob
So if after hours of research you ask the salesperson what they recommend, do
you ignore that person and take the one that you researched or the one
recommended one?
If you take the one you researched do you have any come back?

Of interest - the statement "goods fit for purpose" - is if the
salesperson tells you that it meets a performance criteria, not if
you make a judgement yourself. So if buying anything always tell the
salesperson what you want to do with it then you have a claim that it
was not fit for purpose. (ie I want a generator that can be used to
run a 1000 watt microwave and they sell you a 500 watt generator then
you cna claim "not fit for purpose" when you get home and find it
doesn't work. - I now always ask salesperson to tell which item they
recommend to do the task (despite the fact I have already done the
hours of research.

Cheers,
Rob (Geraldton WA)
