God, I hate answering this question cause it
takes so long!!
Turbo is a Garrett03/04 witht he
turbonetics deltagate, Mandrel bent and polished 3"
intercooler piping, custom front mount intercooler, Mandrel
3" exhaust from turbo, 4" air inlet piping, Uni
Filter with cold air induction and cold air box (the
cold air industion is a 4" droopy tip which looks cool
as when you get down and look!), Engine rebuild with
lightend flywheel, ballenced bottom end, computer chip but
need new computer (microtech MT-8 or Haltech on the
way), aftermarket clutch (for a series 6 RX7, its
heavy!), strenghtened gearbox. Suspension is lowered on
king springs and koni shocks, with front and rear
swaybars, front and rear strut braces and nolothane bushes
all round (which have to be replaced as some of them
creak! Its embarasing), full leath retrim inside with
momo gear knob, sftermarket stearing wheel trimmed in
leather, tanky pedals, alpine headunit, with 12"sub, 400W
amp, 6x9's and 4" in standard spot. 17" wheels with
full bodykit which is modified to fit intercooler and
green detailing. Talking to PPG now about some
Harlequin paints!!

What mods has everyone else done
to their cars? Its always good to hear what everyone
is doing with their MX6's.
Rhys.,.

The car is an 89 4WS. At the moment the boost
controller had died so it is in Adelaide getting re
programmed so I have to run on around 7psi which isnt the
most fun but it is still quick enough to keep up with
others! What amount of Boost are you others running and
does your Knock sensor come into play if your running
near 12psi? I know I need to get the head gasket
replaced and bigger valve springs, could the gasket be
effecting the car so that the knock sensor is coming in at
a lower boost rating? The gasket isnt too bad
though and the car isnt in any danger by driving it I
have been told. anyway thanks for inviting me to join
this club and it will be great to go on a cruise with
you guys sometime.
Rhys.,.

Also note that the right rear light cover is broken. Not the best look for a

OK. I will get the ball rolling. I own an '89
model 4WS white MX6. As of yet, i have no major
modifications done yet, the only mods i've completed so far, is
a new intake system, 3inch which begins as a double
intake at the begining. One pipe under the
bumper(scrapeage) and one behind the left fog light.(can be seen in
photo album magicmx62 'outside of work'.) This then
lets the o2 through a K&N air filter. I also have a
pod filter setup. Using a Simota pod filter, bolted
straight to the AFM. This setup is only for
show(Kookaburra noise.)and is setup in such a way that it can be
bolted on in a matter of minutes. The exhaust has a
couple of high speed holes in the rear muffler, always
handie!!I have also got a front strut brace which i fitted,
makes a world of a difference with just the stock
suspension! The interior modifications benefit from a new
Alpine double din head unit(thanks jayson!), Philips
front splits(thanks jim), rear Boston splits(thanks
jayson!)And a surplus of front and rear Alpine DDDrive
speakers which are not installed in the vehicle as such.I
also have a very cheap sub($40 from superheap) and a
couple of superheap amps to run the system. All up the
system in the car is worth around $2500. not including
the Alpine DDDrive speakers. I also installed a light
weight plastic cup holder, for thoes drift sessions when
you cant hold the cup yourself! An Autometre Boost
gauge, and mixture metre. The mixtre metre gives me
plenty of stares as to what the moving light is!! The
exterior is basicly a stock mx6. No mags, not lowered, but
will be dropped two inches for handling purposes, just
gotta get struts! I have numerous photos up, but check
out the latest, i got my vehicle lowered, and it
looks like a badass cruiser!!! Change the intake and
exhaust, and you've got a car that just loves to change
gears with the press of a foot!

all about our members telling us about there
vehicles. What the car is eg, year, colour, man/auto,
2ws/4ws etc etc. What mods have been
done(Mechanicle/accessories/body interior xterior). What mods are lined up next.
And any other information which would be helpful for
others to ponder on. Please add a photo for us to gawk

A good way to get traction? Don't drive like a
crazy man!! How do you mean? from launch? rolling? If
your rolling and losing traction then you've got
something serious!! From a standing start, instead of
dumping the clutch like most bimbos do and thinks there
top shit, flare the clutch out, say from about
2.5-3000 rpm. U'll have to practice. But doing it this
way, theres no wheel spin, and you can gradually but
quickly apply the power to the whells and get a very good
launch.(by flaring and letting the clutch out. It takes
practice to get a good flared start, but beats sitting
there spining your wheels like an idiot!) A good clutch
is the one you have right now. It was designed and
built to handle the power of your vehicle. It is that
strong, that you theoretically wont burn it out. But then
again, ive heard someone just has... It's like all
clutch's, they will go someday, just the stocko will last
ages!!

Well I'm due for a Master Cylinder for my 1989
MX6, I had a terrible spongy pedal ever since I
changed all my Pads a few months ago, I must've disturbed
the seals when I popped the pistons. My question
is.... is a TX5 Telsta Turbo BRAKE Master cyclinder the
same unit? if so I can get it for trade thru a friend
of mine who works at FORD :) Thanks guys! and YEAH!
lets get a AUSSIE website for us!

Blind Freddie and i were having a good yarn to
each other an ICQ last night. And topic of
conversation had covered front and rear strut braces. Jimxsix
had stumbled upon an item which would do the trick
with little modification. As these vehicles had not
come out with front braces; and only the 4WS models
come out with rear bars.(better check to see if mines
still there hey jim?):). Well any way, the front bar is
from a Mazda 323 Familia. It is a little long for the
stut tops of the MX, but a simple cut nd weld and its
just like a factory MX6 front strut brace! In its
original, its not exactly a piece of art, but a better
refinish and you could make it look neato! I'll post pics
of the bar, standard and refinished, for people to
look at.

That sounds like a plan stan! Yes it would be a
very good idea that an official MX6 club for first
gens was created. Thats the idea i was trying to
create with this club. Im sure many others at First Gen
and MX6.com would also agree to this suggestion.

I totally agree, cookiedude. At the moment, its
hard to get to know the aussie guys/girls? on all the
other clubs/sites. Also, organising meet up's is really
hard. I know that there was a melbourne meetup not long
ago, but other than that, you just have to cruize
around to try and spot an mx6!
If we had our own
club, the possibility of meeting up with some of the
members is far greater so we can show off our
beasts!!!

I also think and official web page to go with the
club would be great, that way we can show members cars
and ideas ect. i have always wanted to do this, but
sadly i never get the time.

Anyhow, im glad this
site has started to pick up! and i'll definatly join
the club if it is started!!

James
