Hi Jan
As I said to Kay it is a big decision but
from what I have read and heard about Baha if you’re a suitable candidate
it really does make a huge difference to being able to hear. Have you read the
Baha personal stories at http://www.c-a-network.com?
The difference between Baha (& a Cochlear
Implant for that matter) is these technologies, instead of trying to force
sound through the damage in our ears they bypass the damage so the sound we get
is so much clearer than with a hearing aid.

-Hi Kay,
I am in the same boat as you. I went to see the specialist today to see if I am
a candidate
for the BAHA. I had never heard of it before the last couple of weeks. I have
been deaf in
my right ear for about 20 years and was always told there was nothing that
could be done.
He gave me a bit of a trial in his rooms - and I could believe the clarity of
the sound. I am
nervous about having it done but excited at the prospect of being able to hear
conversations at dinner parties, know where sounds are coming from, having more
confidence when there is more than a couple of people in the room, not
(unintentionally)
ignoring people. I am sure you know what i mean.
I am to go back to see him in 3 weeks when I have had a trial go - so I will be
interested
in hearing how you go.
Regards, Jan
