Happy New Year all!

Sorry, still writing the book (deadline for the main submission is Monday, then I've got a month of editing) ... not available for anything social or fun. I'm on Amazon, though, which is kinda cool!

Cheers,

Denise

Thanks Mel - well, apart from working 10-12 hours almost every day of the week, I am going well (if very tired). I'm on schedule ... I even have a real listing on Wiley's site now (http://www.wiley.com/WileyCDA/WileyTitle/productCd-0470453664.html) - how's that for confidence? You can buy the book and it's still not written yet! Cover is being designed this week  :)

Cheers,

Denise

Except of course that Starbucks in Canberra generally is now
completely defunct...

Curtin works for me - I collect my mail from there anyway. Although a
weekday is a bit tricky, even with flextime things are pretty busy for
me these days.

I think Curtin sounds wonderful - and there are a lot of Civic - Woden bus routes that go via Curtin...

Antoinette - I'm wondering if it would be a good Stitch'n Bitch venue too?

Cheers,

Curtin ok for other people? I know it's not at a bus
interchange - is that important for people who'd like
to come along.

Seriously, you need to speak up.

Sorry I couldn't make it in the end, unravelled and skyring. We've had a family hospital thing going on and things have been hairy.
On the bright side, I discovered The Book Grocer in Kingston over the weekend. The only place i could get a not too expensive copy of East of Eden for the BC site readalong. but i'm 3 weeks behind the pace.

Well, hope we can all get it happening next month? maybe Beyond Q is the way to go next time? any thoughts on that?

Sorry I missed you. I've got spare Tim Tams for Cari. Or at least I
hope I will. My luggage is in Singapore and I'm in London in a capsule
hotel airing my clothes.

I've got some Tim Tams in reserve - the customer service manager was
charmed by Ringbear and gave me three individuals on the flight to
Hong Kong.

Having a great time, apart from not having any books to release.

Glad Beyond Q was so great.

I waited from 5.25 until 5.55 in Green Square - slap
bang in the middle and didn't see anyone. Couldn't
afford much more time than that and don't have mobile
internet. We've been away for most of the weekend so
couldn't get in a report until now.

Sorry to have missed you, Pete, but it sounds like it
was just you and I anyway. Hope you have a great
trip. I ate Cariane's Tim Tams, but give her my love.

I maybe should have hung around Green Square a bit longer, but was
worried that I'd inadvertently gone to the wrong spot and was missing
all the excitement.

So I went to "Beyond Q" bookshop in Curtin, and honestly, they brought
out the champagne and caviar.

The bookshop has the same lovely people running the show as I
remember, but now they have a cafe area with tables. Semi-licensed,
meaning facilities for drinks. Espresso coffee. Pastries to die for.

And lots of books. Good books.

Open 7am to 6pm.

I was absolutely charmed solid. A perfect place for a gathering,
though leaving free books behind in a bookshop isn't a good idea.
Jenni mentioned that any BookCrossing books that came in - people come
in with boxes of books to sell and sometimes there are registered
books in the box - she would take in and leave at Starbucks in the
city.

We should make it a regular monthly meeting.
