Sorry, i couldn't hold back any longer, i emailed this to the
Commissioner's office today, i will post the reply if i get one.
Cheers Hughsy
Dear Sir / Madam
The following article from Police media is a disgrace, you set up a
specific operation to target motorcyclists and you tell everyone how
pleased you are about it; have you bothered to look at the results?
You pull over 139 bikes, 17 riders speeding, (12% of riders speeding)
You pull over 58 motor vehicles of which 31 are speeding, (53% of
motor vehicles drivers other than bikes were speeding)
If you were specifically targeting motorcyclists then I would call
this operation a complete failure.
Why aren't you specifically targeting the 53% of all other road
user's who appear to be considerably more lawless as a group by your
own statistics?
Honestly, this is nothing more than a discriminatory demonstration of
ineptness by the NSW Police.
Regards
Steve Hughes
Motorcyclists targeted during Operation Blackbird II
31 May 2005
Highway Patrol officers on the Central Coast and the Roads and
Traffic Authority (RTA) joined forces over the weekend to target
motorcycle offences during Operation Blackbird II.

During the operation the following results were obtained:
Vehicles stopped 58
Motorcycles stopped 139
Number of speeding vehicles 31
Number of speeding motorcyclists 17
Number of defects (vehicle) 1
Number of defects (motorcycle) 28
Number of infringements issued (vehicle) 16
Number of infringements issued (motorcycle) 16
Total charges 1
Inspector Brian Tracey of Hunter Valley LAC congratulated Highway
Patrol Officers on the excellent work they did.
"We are happy with the results of the operation and will continue to
run such operations. Those that break the law will be caught,"
Inspector Tracey said.
