NRMA Elections
Election papers from NRMA will be in your letterbox.
This represents an opportunity for riders to expand our voice to government.
VOTE, don't throw your papers away!
Some personal views
We need to develop strategic alliances with bigger players.
Such as NRMA
The current Board of NRMA have little connection with the real issues for
drivers or riders.
Motorcycle road service is patchy at best, but basically a false promise.
The Dawn Fraser Team gets the vote. The team is motorcycle friendly and
talking to us about how to offer a motorcycle roadside service
infrastructure that works and other policy issues such as tolls, E-tags, the
"speed debate", insurance, road maintenance, infrastructure, etc. The Dawn
Fraser Team represents a very viable alternative.
My view is that the present Board is interested in putting their names
before the public simply to get re-elected. We have heard very little from
them on substantive issues and they have done little to advance the
organisation. e.g. "The Petrol Summit" was to little effect and a crass grab
for pre-election publicity - like politicians "being seen to do something",
but it was smoke and mirrors and the cost was to the members.
The present Board appears keen to appease the current government due to
political affiliations.
Remember, this is the board that sold off NRMA Insurance, to the detriment
of members.
To represent road users to government, we need an independent grassroots
organisation.
We need to see independence with backbone. The current Board has shown
neither.
Meanwhile the Dawn Fraser Team has negotiated a discount petrol scheme like
"fly buys" for NRMA members and can implement this quickly.
But the main area of interest for riders is the willingness of the Dawn
Fraser Team to assist motorcycle riders across the state and particularly in
rural areas where we ocassionaly NEED road side assistance.
Further, we see the potential for closer ties in political action by having
grassroots representation from riders and car drivers standing together. A
friendly big mate can be handy sometimes, particularly as we have many
shared interests. A motorcycle friendly board means motorcycle issues remain
on the agenda and are not dropped off.
I recommend voting in the NRMA elections.
I further recommend voting FOR the Dawn Fraser Team.
I believe this is in the interests of all motorcycle riders.
Kind regards
