Hi Lindy,

I think Ventura do this because they would like people to buy their whole
package - not many people make racks, but heaps of people make bags -->
there is obviously heaps more R&D work in designing racks to suit every
make of every bike whereas the bags are pretty much generic!!! Probably
base their costs on selling the bag as well as the rack, so need to make
their money back some how.

The lengths you have to go to to buy a rack for a bike....sheeesh!!!

I assume it is a fear of litigation which makes the requirements so
stringent?????
