While on the topic of speedos, the light on speedo died about 12months ago,
after an off. Then I removed it, tried to open it to replace the bulb,
however I could not get into it (its not just me 3 people tried, it seems
the speedo has been built to not be open)

But then after giving it a gentle tap it started working again (the bulb
must have just moved out a little)

But now its gone out and has stayed out no matter how firmly i "tap" it.

I dont really want to have to buy a whole new speedo, but i think I might
have to, as the speedo seems impossible to get into.

Anyone know the going rate on a second hand speedo ? its an EL250, but i
have buckleys of getting an original.
