The Picture on the Yahoo Home page has been added due to pressure
from some of the girls.

From one of our female members:

"Dear Mr Turner......

May I just stress that if this particular photo is NOT put on the
website in all fairness to last weeks photo then I am afraid some
members may have to form their own club and we will call it ' Riders
who think BA sucks!!!!!'

Come on, fair is fair....... isnt supposed to be the Sydney 'singles
motorcycle club???????? I am sure I can get all my hot friends to
sign up if they see the new home page!

Over and out...... and hopefully still a member of BA come Monday."

Or even beter, throw it onto the back of a Ute and cruise down the freeway
with it. They should have a roll of film full of powerpoles recorded at
110kph.

Guys and Girls,

This may be old news to some of you but just in case you don't already know....

If you are ever on the old road up near Mt White, especially the part
that used to be two lanes in each direction, watch out for a wheely
bin.

I've seen it a few times and thought it odd as there are no houses
around. I found out today it is the police's stealth toy and contains
a camera (and I assume radar or similar speed detector).....

Well, I have been bike commuting all year now (phew, such a long time
I know). This morning was the worst experience I have had so far.
I've had to use the horn quite a few times, stoopid people deciding to
change lanes while I am pulling even with their eyeballs on a very
noisy bike... ??? Perhaps I need to invest in hot pink and yellow
leathers or something for improved visibility...

I also noticed heaps more traffic this morning, perhaps due to

would be comfortable with (in stopped traffic of course, I don't have

Hello harry,

I used to live in India (spent 8 years growing up there) in the city
of Bangalore. I have a couple of bikes there, a Yamaha (which we
worked the crap out of) and an Enfield 350cc. Thing was when I went
back for a holiday last july, they scared me!! I took them for a
ride and had never felt so nervous on a motorbike before. The bikes
here have spoilt me, from braking, to lean angles and so on.

I still have a lot of friends in India and wanted to take the 10R on
a trip with me. I've check it out and I dont have any duties to pay
since I will be bringing the bike back to Sydney. Only have to pay
them if the vehical stays in the country.

I'm still checking out a couple of things before I go (biggest issue
is where to buy fuel since they only sell 93 octane at the pump) and
once I figure that one out, I'll send you an email.

Thanks for the replies.

Regards,

Kieran (10R)

Is it full moon? I didn't see the moon!

Had a quite 'entretaining' trip to the city this morning.

It all started when I glanced my eyes on this car next to me and I
noticed that the driver was brushing her hair WHILE driving. (".) The
one in front of me was eating and drinking... hummm breaky time eh?

Decided to get away... I couldn't let myself behind such
distraction... nah! No way!

Off I went (Lane splitting??? Who???) to my surprise one driver after
another were either shaving, or eating or brushing their hairs...
Gosh this must be a new fashion or something!

Ladies weren't that bad as putting on make up is better done at the
traffic lights (hummm maybe that is why cars take so long to take off
on green lights!!!)

I decided to take a different route and got on the back streets... I
could not spend all my 10 dollars worth of attention on what others
were doing.... all was going fine until I had to get back to the busy
streets to enter Anzac Bridge and I found the "cager of the year":
The bloke behind me was BRUSHING HIS TEETH """while driving""""
towards Anzac Bridge! ***God Almighty pls wake me up!*** I wonder
where the foam in his mouth ended up!!!???? YUCKS!!!

It seemed like all cagers decided to get on the car, start driving
and then have breakfast, then brush their teeth, then brush hair,
then shave, then get changed?????

~ uh la la la... they are going crazy... Uh la la la... ~

On Anzac Bridge I saw at least 3 vehicles cutting off other cars,
changing lanes rapidly and without indicating... (maybe their hands
were busy on their morning shores!!!) my left thumb was milimiters
away from the horns... I would have touse it at any minute... I wish
I had 'very' loud air horns instead of my neeeeat horns!!!

Adding more 'fun' to commuting, since the renovations on Anzac bridge
exit towards the city (on Bathurst St) some dumb arse engineer
miscaculated the schedulle of traffic lights making a total mess of
the normal traffic flow on that area and a life of hell for those
exiting Anzac brige on Bathurst St.

We have to wait a ridiculous long time there because only one vehicle
is being able to get off on green lights at the time (".)

On Pitt street as usual there is always a buss or two or three parked
right on the middle of the road near Liverpool street holding up
traffic and making lane splitting unavoidable!

Passing all the madness I arrived on my destination where I usually
catch up with other riders parking their bikes and there came this L
plater kid on a scooter with a big smile on his face, it brought up
on me that awesome feeling only riders know of how great motorcycling
is, and this bightened my day.

"What a journey!!!!" :-)

Have a great day and keep smilling

Bia

Maybe I'm being unduly negative here, but my guess is it will probably
be overturned, like the case where the guy broke his spine diving into
shallow surf got his payout revoked, as well as that whole Jannali
shopkeeper/break in shebang... I thought Carr's tightening up of these
laws in NSW meant these things are not as water tight as they once
were.

I went for a ride up the old road and was dismayed to see road re-
surfacing has taken place just south of Calga. Its the same method
they have used in the past, ie bitumen is sprayed on the old surface
and chipped gravel laid on top, thus leaving a very loose and
unstable surface.

I hope they have got there act together this time, as previous
attempts at re-surfacing the road over the last 3 years have left a
sub standard surface.

Don't forget that there is ADR compliance, which can only be gotten from an
importer
before it gets out of the dockyard. oh yeah, and you can't really just roll up
and say
"i gots me a bike, givvus an adr plate bud", you'll be laughed outta the yard
(well from
impressions i've recieved)

However i *HAVE* been wrong before.
Hiring is definately the way to go too.

From the Sydney Morning Herald Website, it may help if anyone
decides to Sue a council if they crash due to road works, the part I
thought was interesting was that the guy was speeding at the time
but still got a payout!

P-plater awarded $4.3m over crash
February 2, 2005 - 3:41PM

A P-plate driver left quadriplegic after a car crash on the NSW
north coast was today awarded $4.3 million in damages, after suing
the local council that was carrying out roadworks at the accident
site. Jon Watt, now 25, suffered severe spinal injuries when he
crashed his Holden sedan near Grafton in March 1998. He successfully
sued Copmanhurst Shire Council in the NSW Supreme Court for
negligence, claiming poor signage and loose gravel on the road led
to the accident. Mr Watt was driving to his grandparents' house in
Grafton when he passed through roadworks on the Summerland Way. The
court was told that when he braked to avoid a kangaroo, his car
fishtailed on loose gravel, hit an embankment and flipped over.
The council had erected signs in the area limiting the speed to
60kph, warning of roadworks and advising motorists to slow down.
But Mr Watt argued the council should have displayed signs alerting
drivers to the condition of the road, and repeated warning signs
every 500 metres.
Handing down his judgment today, Justice Timothy Studdert found the
council should have cleaned away any build-up of loose gravel and
put up signs warning of its presence on the road.
The council's failure to take such steps contributed to the
accident, he said.
But Mr Watt also failed to take reasonable care for his own safety,
Justice Studdert found.
The 18-year-old P-plate driver had been travelling at 80kph - 20kph
over the limit - when he lost control of his car.
He said he did not remember seeing signs warning of roadworks.
But even if proper safety signs had been in place, and Mr Watt had
seen them, he probably would not have slowed down, Justice Studdert
said. "This accident occurred in broad daylight, in dry weather
conditions," the judge said. "It seems to me that had he been
keeping a proper lookout ... the plaintiff should have been aware
that there was a change in the condition of the road
surface. "Justice Studdert said Mr Watt was driving too fast in the
circumstances, which "contributed to the accident that occurred in
very real measure". Had Mr Watt not shared responsibility for the
accident, the judge would have awarded him $6.5 million in damages.
But he reduced the payout by a third, awarding damages of $4.33
million. Mr Watt had earlier settled a claim with the Roads and
Traffic Authority over the accident. Copmanhurst Council declined to
comment on the case.

I don't normally forward things like this, but felt it was serious
enough to warrant the post.
There's no specific recall for Australia, but coming from the US FDA,
it's good-enough for me.

Tim.

From the US Food & Drug Administration:
http://www.fda.gov/cder/drug/infopage/ppa/default.htm

Food and Drug Administration
Public Health Advisory
Subject: Safety of Phenylpropanolamine

The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) is issuing a public health
advisory concerning phenylpropanolamine hydrochloride (PPA).
This drug is widely used as a nasal decongestant (in over-the-counter
and prescription drug products) and for weight control (in
over-the-counter drug products).
FDA is taking steps to remove phenylpropanolamine from all drug products
and has requested that all drug companies discontinue marketing products
containing phenylpropanolamine.

Phenylpropanolamine has been linked to increased hemorrhagic stroke
(bleeding in the brain) in women. Men may also be at risk. Although the
risk of hemorrhagic stroke is very low, FDA recommends that consumers
not use any products that contain PPA.

Consumers can identify over-the-counter cough-cold, nasal decongestant,
and weight control products containing this ingredient by looking for
"phenylpropanolamine" in the list of active ingredients on the label.
Consumers can check with their health care provider or pharmacist to see
whether their prescription cough-cold or nasal decongestant product
contains phenylpropanolamine. We advise consumers to discuss alternative
over-the-counter and prescription products with their health care
providers or pharmacists.

The following medications contain Phenylpropanolamine. This is not a
conclusive list, please check the ingredients on other similar products.

Hello Kieran -
I run a freight forwarding company and have people in India that
can help -but- I am wondering why you'd go to that expense.

Why not just rent a Royal Enfield over there - if you trash it, which
is likely on their roads / traffic, etc -it's someone else's problem.

Ball park costs to get it crated, shipped to Mumbai (Bombay) at 3 cubic
meters about AU$800.00 to AU$1,200 up to arrival only, not incl' local
duties, taxes, bribes, road registration, local insurance, etc, etc,
etc, Would be about double that to get the bike home to Sydney.

Sent me a note if you like to my address or call if you want to discuss
further.

Cheers / Harry - Red Trumpy Sprint ST

Hey all,

got a crazy idea and wanted to take my 10R with me next time I go to
India for a holiday. I was wondering if anyone knew of a shipping
service or logistic mover for the same.

Any information would be greatly appreciated.
