I received a phone call recently from Hayden Smith (Birdman) to say
that a mate of his, Darren Bockham (spelling?), was killed in a bike
accident in Queensland. He said Darren is a member of this Yahoo Group
and that he thought he was a member of Bikers Anon, as well as some
other bike clubs.

I dont have any further details. Hayden will post something when he
returns to Sydney.

Condolences to Darrens family and friends from the Bikers Anon
committee.

Sean
President
Bikers Anon

PS Everbody please take it easy out there and keep your wits about
you, far too many riders have been killed recently.

Anyone who watched the news this evening saw the reality of it all.
If I remember correctly, last year Bikebiz matched the total money raised as
well as supplying the lunch and drinks. Seeing the faces on all the volunteer
guys and girls, who risk their lives to save our properties and our lives, was
really something special.

It would be nice if other bike groups don't organise any other bike rides on the
19th of February so this years ride will be huge.

   G'day all,

I have just had the final meeting with Bike Biz (major
supporters and sponsors) for the 2006 Bike Biz Bikers
Back the Bushfire Brigade Benefit Bash and the date
for the diary is Sunday February 19th.

As usual, the Sydney riders will register at
McDonalds, McGraths Hill at 9am for a 10am departure.

Travel along Bells Line of Roads to Lithgow, but this
year, in addition to a great lunch provided by the
Rural Fire Service, Bike Biz and the organisors have
arranged a bush band to entertain participants at the
   Lithgow Showground destination.

Cost is again $10 per person which will get you lunch
and drink at Lithgow and 100% of monies raised goes to
the Rural Fire Service for much needed equipment in
what is again turning out to be a very busy and
dangerous time for the hero volunteers of the Rural
   Fire Service.

Please pass this information on to any other clubs and
motorcycle organisations so that the 2006 charity run
can be bigger and better than last year where we
donated almost $2,000 for the purchase of much needed
   and life saving equipment.

Remember, be there or be square.

The NSW Department of Environment and Conservation (DEC - formerly
known
at the EPA) have advised the Infringement Processing Bureau (IPB)
and NSW
Police that as of the 2nd March, 2005 Clause 19 (2) of the
Protection of
the Environment Operations (Noise Control) Regulation 2000 has been
`disallowed'.

Clause 19 (2) relates to the labelling of motorcycle noise control
equipment under ADR 39.

In effect, any infringements issued by police on or after the 2nd
March,
2005 will be `no actioned' by the IPB and the following offences
have been
removed from the P23D Fixed Penalty Handbook:

11458 MJP Cause/permit use of motorcycle not compliant with ADR
83/00
11459 MJQ Cause/permit use of motorcycle with unmarked noise control
(manufactured after 1/1/2005)
11462 MJT Cause/permit use of motorcycle not compliant with ADR
83/00
(CORPORATION OFFENCE)
11463 MJU Cause/permit use of motorcycle with unmarked noise control
(manufactured after 1/1/2005) (CORPORATION OFFENCE)

Related offence codes of 11456, 11457, 11460 and 11461 remain
available
for use at this stage but are under review.

Police should also consider the use of `Vehicle Standards' offences
under
Clause 57 (1)(a) or (b) in Schedule 4 of the Road Transport (Vehicle
Registration) Regulation 1998.

Dont know if this has been discussed to death before, but im goin to rant
about it any-way.

Just been down the sales at Glens Hardware and bought a GMC pressure water
cleaner and a 20 litre Jerry can ($146 for both).

All I needed to do was cut 5 metres of garden hose (since I dont seem to use
that any-more) and put the Jerry can full of water on top of the wheelie bin
(that gave enough head of water to feed the pressure washer).

Now with the 20 litre can I easily washed the bike AND the 4WD. Just 5
litres would have done the bike I recon, so talk about saving water. (Water
Supply can be moved around cos the wheelie bin has wheels....those clever
council engineers thought of everything ---).

No I believe that because the supply for the pressure washer is from a
static supply (ie a bucket or jerry can) its within the water restriction
guidelines).. Even better once i connect a few of these jerry cans to the
drain-pipe and use rain water...

So can now have enviromental bike clean parties in Jannali and the water
savings will go towards all the lane splitting fines for the new year....

All enjoy the New Years celebrations and lets hope the New Year is blinder..

Very well put Sean - that says it all.

As a post-course follow up, I went for a quick blast
up the old road tonight with David and I'm now trying
to control my excitement because I can safely say that
the whole riding experience is soooo different and
sooooo much better now.....and I thought these damned
Suzuki's were good before...jeesh...I'm sure I'll be
able get my gix as horizontal as Al gets his ZX10
before long!!!!

So, Sean, with a bit of bedding down of what we've
learnt and in my case when I get back up to 'speed'
again, I reckon we'll be able to give the likes of
David, Sam, Ray and Dog a bit of a run for their money

Hm....perhaps I'm getting a bit too excited here :oP

lucky with the

We got heaps of track time and plenty of on bike

to watch Wayne Clarke backing in into turn three of
the Oran Park GP
circuit with rear wheel squealing, including a couple
of times where
he deliberately overcooked it and recovered his line
mid turn. The
guy is an amazing rider.

For a training course we had an amazing amount of time
basically
free riding while working on the things we'd been
taught. Even a
braking drill on the straight required that you finish
the lap
before redoing the drill.

I had more fun doing this course than i did at the
track day at
Eastern creek on Saturday ... and i learned a hell of

well.

I reckon by the end of the day I was lapping Oran Park
faster at
road tyre pressures than i normally would at track
pressures.

For all those orphan BA chirstmas children out there, I and Sam (636)
are having a christmas luch and get together at my place in
Woolloomooloo.

So if anyone out there is at a loose end, then just contact me on
email: douglas_brazil@... or on my mobile 0415 987 927 so I
have an idea of any numbers.

I intend on getting some seafood from the fish markets, some beer,
wine and nibblies and sit in the back yard, shirts off enjoying the
christmas sun. (for ladies shirts off is an option, but extremely
recomended). I am in a good location so we can wonder out later in the
day around the harbour, maquaries chair, botanical gardens or a local
bar and enjoy the festivities some more.

I have a number of beds for those who want to enjoy the festivities
and don't want to drive home, plenty of parkin including a double
garage to park your bikes.

For all those who have othe rplans, have a great Christmas and we will
see you in the New Year.

Ho HO HO!

Regards

Oh yeah, count me in on all said below from John and
Robyn.

All that space and watching the instructors riding so
closely on the curb of the track (as Wayne Clarke
shaved the hairs off our legs he was so close and fast
- well half pace as he reckoned!) I got more out of it
than just the cornering and braking course we were
supposed to be on.

Had a frustrating start to the day trying to get that
extra part of the long circuit sussed, but an absolute
blast by the end of the day with all the education and
free practice combined.

Hello from Dublin,

I am looking at getting my dad on a motorbike somehow to give him a taste for
bikes. So I thought for his birthday early in the New Year I would book him
a comfortable Harley Davidson day ride he can go pillion and so I can go for
a ride with him.

I want to book it before I come home to give to him when I land. Do any of
you know of any good reputable companies that do these rides? I had a little
look on the net but not sure how good they are and who's better etc.

   Any feedback would be appreciated.

   Thankyou!!

Have a safe Christmas and I'll be sharing that road again soon in the New Year
for some last minute summer riding..

I can't wait to do that new Stanwell coastal run. :-))

   Have fun...

   Take care

James of JPM has offered $45 per rider for the photos from Saturday.
HOWEVER, I suspect this is only if everyone orders the photos (not that I
expect that).

But if you do want your photos from the day at that price let me know
offline ASAP.

Cheers,
Sam

They were indeed - I was out earlyish (before the mini club got going) , but
there were already a number of cops out around 10am - and yes, they were all
in the new 60 zone.

Morning all.

Yep, the trackday was a lot of fun. Personnaly I enjoyed the day and
learnt a lot from chatting to all the instructors and ppl who actually
race there often, so looking forward to learning more there on another
day...

I took lots of photos... not quite sure If there all BA ppl, but im
sure quite a few are (or friends of)... Tried to put up small images
of them all on the yahoo site, but uploading seems to be a trouble, so
ive zipped up all the images into one large (5mb) file, so please come
and download the (60 odd) small images and email me(off post)for any
numbered ones that you want the real pics of... the real pics are
between 2-4mb in size, so be warned...lol ive zoomed in so you can
see if they are of you, but the real ones have more background , so
you can adjust and crop to suit..........

ftp://210.11.44.170/it/ and use username of "oggy" password of "oggy"
and download the "baec.zip"

Enjoy...... Phil

I will endeavour to put up the small pics onto the group ASAP (Sam or
Chris may be able to beat me to this i hope)

I thought we were all going swimming as I drove out to the track. But by
some great fortune or small miracle the dark clouds parted around the
circuit. Clearly God, Alah, Buddah, Gishnu et al all ride motorcycles.

Blessed we were and by the time the white group was on for their first laps
warming up the track was 99% dry. When I went out the track was as dry as
a... wait, I don't know any clean metaphors for dryness.

On Sunday it was dry again and somehow I still felt like going for a ride.
Not even the carloads of police officers, the Highway Patrol cars and
motorcycle cops in Gymea Shell, the countless cars we saw doing laps of the
block... not even the doctors and lawyers Harley Riders club, nothing could
deter me from riding out through the Nasho.

Oh, except my Grandma deciding to have her 98th birthday "party" that day.
So I had to bail out early and missed the bridge ride... oh well, I'm sure
it won't go anywhere and I'll take the next opportunity to ride it for sure.

On a side note, I chatted to a guy on a gixxer 750 that afternoon who had
just come off the old road. He told me the police were out in force there
too... funny, I've never seen a beach near Mt White... maybe they were doing
some old fashioned (over) policing of the new speed limit?

Anyway, let's go to the track again... soon.

Well said Ray, it certainly was a great day for all those who attended,
and it was good to see a fair proportion backing up on the Stanwell Beach
ride today. There were more BA'ers at the track than on the ride, a lot
more!!

Ride today was perfect, The weather was amazing, police distracted by
racist rednecks (the shire and surrounds was crawling with the police,
wasn't it Will), roads clean and dry, and a great group of people (after
Sam left hehe ;-).

Sea cliff bridge is amazing both for the scenery and the surface, the
engineers have designed it for us, I'm sure it could have been made
straight. We weren't able to do a real fast run through there due to the
traffic volumes. Personally, I like the tight corners on the entrance
myself and the expansion strips should only be an issue in the damp, wet
or at 10/10ths, MOST of us won't be cranked over so far as to upset the
bike, as there not on the apex (unless you've stuffed it up).
You really don't want to stuff up there north bound, would be a nasty
landing onto the rocks, southbound I'd be surprised if you could fly over
the pedestrian walkway, no doubt there will be some who'll try!

Looks like A speed camera is on the way for the south end, on the
straight. It looks to be under construction, in the mean time the HWP seem
to have a strong presence there. It's an expencive bridge, they've gotta
pay for it somehow.

The next BA south ride should be mandatory for any self respecting rider.
Think about it, Nasho, Sea cliff bridge, up Bulli pass, down Mt Keira, up
Mac pass, and back again, or throw in Jamberoo and Kiama bends before
heading back a similar way. Could even go back via Kangaloon, Mitagong,
Picton, Razorback. Heck that must be getting close to a 4 bikes ride?

Cheers all, and have a fun, but safe, Xmas/newyear

HEY! I did do a 10.9 on second run at least. Adjusting my chain was not a
good idea, getting stuck in false neutral twice on my next run and once a
run for the rest of the night. It was a good night, well worth it and thanks
to all expecially Allison for organising. Glad I made the last minute
decision to go.

Yup Ali did a cracking job of flying off the start
every time and with her 1/4 mile times during the
night. She was well deserved of that prize and thanks
for organising a great night Ali.

It wasn't hard to improve on my times initially
considering my first go was a very tentative 18.53!!!
I came down to 11.31 on my second go then 10.85, then
a blip back up to 11.1 when I hit the rev limiter a
bit hard (I dropped my shifter light down 1000rpm
after that!) then on my last run got back down to
10.84.

The adrenalin rush was huge and it was a lot of fun.
Everyone was really friendly and it was fascinating to
watch cars and bikes alike. The turbo hyabusa and
ZX10 were manic!

So girls (and guys) how about posting your best times

I know Dave did a 10.4 and Tamzin a few 10.8s, both on
stock K6
GSXR1000's, leaving poor old R1 riding Dogarse in
their wake :)

It was amusing to watch experienced drivers in highly
modified, very
noisey, very expensive cars scream down the track
slower than
completely stock bikes ridden by drag racing novices.
