So, this coming Monday (7th August) is a Bank Holiday, and I think it
would be a bit rude not to take the opportunity (weather permitting)
to get out of town and ride ride ride… (actually – it's probably a bit
rude to post this on a forum where there are a lot of non bankers –
sorry guys – enjoy your day at work :o) happy in the knowledge that
the phrase "Bankers are W4nkers" does not refer to you).

Of course all those non bankers who don't have to work on Monday are
also very welcome to join us. If will certainly make the conversation
at lunch a bit more interesting.

I've not decided the route yet, but was thinking of heading off
reasonably early (shortly after peak hour) and getting home mid
afternoon. Anyone interested, make a post with suggestions and I'll be
in touch later in the week with definite details?

Ciao for now.

HI Guys,
Just thought I would tell you about my adventure on Sunday!
Went to the L & P's Ride, which was meant to finish at Stanwell for most,
except a bunch went on to Robertson's pie shop.
After checking I had enough fuel to get home, YEP 100 km's should be enough,
if you ride accordingly.
Somehow we saw some TNR's flying home from the gong and decided to tag along,
Fast fossil was on the case and Blue R6 (sorry forget your name) as well as
Raul!
Lot's of fun, well dashing back through the Nasho, the little red fuel light
comes on, Usually 20km's worth before you really sweat it out!

Just after the long straight it was 18km's into reserve and me on my OWN!
Because the boys stopped at Stanwell for a ciggie break... 20km's reserve,
23km's reserve, 26km's reserve and just before the uphill corners I chicken out
and pulled over! Lucky there was a red bike about to take off I asked hey know
where I can get some fuel? :)

Lucky for me, his girls bike was broken down at that spot and he was going
home to get the truck and pick it up!

So we actually get the tank off the bike and pour some precious fuel out of
his Race tank into my thirsty R6 tank, needless to say this didn't take 5
minutes yet faster than doing a fuel run! I just can't Believe my luck..to land
where a bike mechanic has spare fuel!

Thanks Brendan, who also just happens to own Sydney Performance Motorcycles
at Taren point. I couldn't have picked a better road side assistance emergency
service! :)

And Guess who will be the new Wheelieteezn stockist now! SPM at TAREN PT!!

THANKS Brendan and Paul

I somehow don't think that any of the local country
boys and girls who were there that night would take a
camera to their pub!!

The proprietor of the pub gave it to me, saying that
it didn't belong to any of her locals....

My Kwaka used to do the same. It was the sidestand switch on her as well.
Just pulled it apart and cleaned out the goo. All good after that.

Taina,

Think I agree with all of the comments so far, but who can be sure ???

Had my '96 ZX6 for 9 years which is the same as yours, except mine did
about 210,000km - towards the end this was an intermittent problem which I
put down to side-stand switch - never got it fixed as after a few jiggles
(sorry that doesn't sound very mechanical) it would go.

Give the stand and associated bits a good clean, maybe spray on some WD40
or equivalent and see if it persists ... or alternatively talk to someone
who knows for sure!

I agree, sounds like the cutoff switch to me.

There are switches on the clutch lever, at the neutral light and at the
sidestand. If the sidestand is down AND the bike is in gear AND the
clutch is not all the way in, it acts the same way as the kill switch at
the right bar.

It's easy for the switch at the sidestand to get gunked up and not work
properly any more. If the switch sticks at the "up" position there's
nothing to stop you taking off with your sidestand down. Sounds like
yours is sticking at the "down" position?

Thank you to all that ventured out for what has to be BA's all time
shortest ride. With most choosing (wisely) to go further than
Stanwell, Dave and I set our sails North and headed home. So there is
just a few photos of the ride. Check out the photos section.

Don't forget, the guest speaker this Thursday at De Niros is James
Spence of Circuit Breakers. Plus we have a ride day at the end of the
month. Plus we are quad biking this Sunday. Phew, some fun cometh our
way.

That sounds very much like a faulty switch... maybe
sticking while the side stand is up then slowly making
contact after a while..(would explain the magic)

Go to the shop and have a mechanic check all the
switches..

Cheers Mark..

Are you saying the bike is stalling? You dont give much detail of the
incidents

Perhaps its the side stand cut off switch

Or maybe its the engine oil. Ie of a heavy viscosity, hence when the
engine is cold the clutch is grabbing even when youhavethe clutch
lever in

My 95zx6r has me worried.

Twice now this is what happened. At the Oberon run I pulled up at the pub and
backed her
against the gutter, as you do. When it was time to go, we all started our
engines and when
I let out the clutch it just died. More than once.At the time I figured that it
may have
something to do with the rear wheel being pinned against the gutter by the
bike's weight
(and mine), so I inconvenienced someone to push me off a little, as the bike was
on an
incline… well yes, I admit it:,I was not strong enough to push it forward, but
had I known
it was going to happen, I would have parked it differently, doh …
I tried it a couple more times and then it started. No idea what I did. Magic?!
The bike has
23thousand km on the clock.
However, it happened again last weekend. Same scenario. Parked it against the
gutter and
this time (having made the mental note last time) I kept it in neutral. So when
it was time
to hit the road, my riding partner was already at the end of the street when I
was still
trying to keep it running. I had to restart it about 5-8 times and I thought
perhaps if I'll lift
it into second and third and then take it down into first again may do the
trick.
I got a bit flustered, as the people who I had just met for the first time, were
standing
roadside, patiently awaiting my departure in order to wave goodbye and the other
rider
was already well on his way… so I don't remember whether that did do the trick.
Embarressed, I got going, but it really worries me. My riding partner mentioned
hydraulics…pumping the lever…
Do you have any ideas? Has that happened to you? Is there a trick?!!!

P.s.: Magic is just too unreliable for this Trainee Ninja Witch…

Oh and not to forget the "smart" BMW, with all sorts of bells and whistles
including electronic suspension and mandatory heated hand grips, but with no
brakes unless the engine is going.......weird!

Today was such a great day for riding, and I was SOO grateful that I had the
day off! I was reminded of the camaraderie of bikers and that riding really
is the ultimate in freedom..........Bring it on!

I went up the old road with friends, a lunch stop at the Brooklyn marina
(what a gorgeous spot that is) reminded me of my days of youth spent water
skiing on the Hawkesbury river, something I hope to do again before I check
out.

On the way I looked at all the people in their cages with kids in the
backseat, and remembered all too well what that was like! Seems like a
lifetime ago now though, and today I wouldn't have traded places for love
nor money!

Today I belonged exactly where I was, on the back of my bike, in the
sunshine, on the open road with only my thoughts, having a ball!

At the top end of the Old Road I learned that my GPX really can overtake on
a short stretch of road between corners...WOO HOO! I just needed to get my
confidence up.
I learned that a HyaBusa is really a Suzuki....go figure!

and back at MT White I saw what I would like for my next bike (only in
Green)....how exciting!

Cheers
Lindy

Hi folks,
Not sure I agree with stuffing up the census, you just never know where it may
get some focus that can useful later even if it is not motorcycle related.
   HOWEVER,
VOICE YOUR CONCERN AS TO INACCURATE STATISTICS WITH CREDIBLE COMPLAINTS TO THE
BUREAU OF STATISTICS AND YOUR LOCAL AND STATE GOVERNMENT REPRESENTATIVE.

Might be an idea to approach MCC's Guy Stanford no-one I know better to use as
a voice that can results and guide us all in the best manner to let the powers
that be they are not letting the motorcycle community have a fair and just place
in the statisticss.

I thought this was a great idea and hoped it might bring some
recognition to us bikers.

Then today I received my census form and on checking noticed that
question 54 asks, "How many registered motor vehicles owned or used by
residents of this dwelling were garaged or parked at or near this
dwelling on Census Night (Tuesday, 8 August 2006)?" It then goes on
with a footnote saying to exclude motorbikes and motor scooters.

I have sent an email to the Australian Bureau of Statistics to
complain about the omission, and for my part, it seems the government
does not want accurate information and I'm willing to oblige by
completing their form with all sorts of fantastic and inaccurate
rubbish.

If others are annoyed by this further marginalising of us bikers,
complain to the Bureau of Stastics and your local member.

I have in my possession a black camera case which was
left behind at the pub last weekend on FYAO.

Belong to anyone who went?

Just got new ventura brackets fitted. After cannily saving the racks
from my previous bike I now find myself with 2 perfectly useless wrong-
sized racks taking up precious space in my attic. If anyone wants a
size 13 Pack Rack and/or a size 13 Sport Rack, they're yours. Just e-
mail me.

(size 13 is 275mm centre to centre on the L-bracket ends)

Hi everyone

I have been asked by someone in the UK if we know of any bike groups in
Victoria, near Bendigo or Kangaroo flats. Maybe even the Melbourne area as they
may have people out that way. Can anyone help.

Damn Jo, rub it in why don't ya ;-( Some of us have to go to work tomorrow.
Though I am contemplating a quick ride if nothing else, assuming my flatmate
hasn't parked my bike in again and taken off with his keys so I can't move his
car. DOH!

I have decided to be a good girl and stay in on a Friday night so that my
weekend in Moonee Beach (just north of Coffs Harbour) with my Mum (aawwww) is
nice and fresh and spent with me mostly awake and participating in conversation
with enthusiasm!!!

   Anyone else bored?
