There is a bike club that is meeting in Uruguay this year and doing Uruguay and
parts of Brazil. There is riders going from all over the world, its the Latin
American Motorcycle Association. There is 6 people going from Sydney on feb 2nd,
me included.
If anyone wants to know more let me know.
We worked out that is cheaper to buy or hire a bike there then to take yours
from here.

Steven- what are you doing in Brazil?

Has anyone else ridden in South America? Organising it yourself or with
a bike company? I'd love to pick your brains if you have- I'm going in
April-May. I've been looking for a motorbike tour to do through Peru and
possibly bits of Bolivia, Argentina and Brazil.

I should be coming on Sunday's ride (my first with bikers anon) so could
talk to you about it there.

For christmas I did the run to Coffs and spent a few days there, but
decided to take 4 wheels instead of two. Still detoured via Bucketts
and back of Taree and didn't get back onto No.1 until Pembleton. Now
getting back to roadworks, I COULD NOT believe my eyes, after scooting
around a corner I found myself avoiding two roadworkers that had
sprayed tar onto a filled hole with one ready to run out and top it
with loose gravel. The most amazing part was the complete lack of
roadworks signs. This was on Saturday 22nd December, and from memory
it was somewhere on Bucketts Way. For a change glad I was in a car as
a slide can be a bit of fun (not as far as the missus is concerned),
heaven help any bikers though. I have no doubt whoever was
responsible for this duo also is responsible for the other mess on
Oxley.
Anywho, safe riding to all and stay alert and upright....just deserts
to those with no consideration to all road users.
J.

I had a near miss on Arcadia Road heading to Berowra waters the other day,
heaps of gravel on the sharp right hander and then more on the other side of
the roadl!!!

seems the stupidity is widespread.

Hey all,

A mate had the missfortune of coming off on stupidly placed gravel on the Oxley
on Thursday, and at the scene there was scrape marks from another bike (fresh)
going down in the opposite direction(west bound up hill). Apparently there was a
death up there the previous weekend...

Now the question is this:

Does anyone happen to know more about the death (where exactly it was,
circumstances, etc..) or anything about the other bike that seems to have come
off in the other direction. The corner was 28.6km west of Long Flat. That the
2nd left hand corner heading east from the enterence to the retreat up their
that I unfortunately don't have a name for.

Any help at all will help the massive claim the council will be receiving ...

Just fyi btw - the rider is ok - nothing broken, at least a week off work though
with a gashed and seemingly internally damaged knee, a scratched up bike, fukt
leathers and a large dose of anger at slapdash idiots who can't follow rta rules
for safe roadworks.

Thanks.

Pete,
that is correct, new speedway at the showground, Olympic Park off Homebush
Bay Drive.
Tickets can be ordered on line at www.spokespromotions.com.au and no, I am
not affiliated with them at all, I just have fond memories of the speedway
at the old showground.
Tix are $35 each for general entry and about $55 for reserve. Kick off is 7
p.m.
These guys really know how to handle a bike and Jason Crump, our own Aussie
Champion will be doing his best to entertain as well.

cheers,
CJ

and back to the question I raised sometime ago;
Why Does the green slip for a LAM's approved WR426F 426cc machine cost more
than a greenslip for an CBR250RR?

and why would you put a learner on a WR426F instead of a CBR250RR in any
case? crazy public servants.............
my WR250 scares me........ : )

Back of an envelope calculations suggest that in fact we are
  subsidising everybody elses greenslips!!

When a bike hits a car its highly unlikely an occupant of the car
would be injured. The rider cant claim against his own greenslip
so that only leaves pillions claiming against riders in cases
where the rider is deemed at fault. i.e Pillions injured in single
vehicle accidents, or the less than a third of car v bike crashes
where the rider is at fault. Even if these claims are for very
substantial amounts, they have to be fairly uncommon.

Greenslip prices for motorcycles are on the Motorcycle Council's
  agenda.

Jacket - Maybe XXS ladies' would be the best option if the Google leads
don't work out.

-Pik, who has long skinny fingers that tend to fit better into XXL
ladies' gloves than L men's.

Hi Ray

Ive heard that most kiddies MX clubs have a sort of swap thing going on.

As you can imagine the kids get through a lot of gear as they grow up and
improve, so I would suggest looking up any local MX clubs and see if you
can join in with that.

You may need to join the club (or look interested in joining........ wink
wink )

<http://www.google.com/search?q=motorcycle+clothing+children+site%3A.au>

lists some AU stuff. Proracer at Croydon seem to have kids clothing.
Kids MX is quite popular so shouldnt imagine getting a jacket is too
hard. Draggin Jeans also have kids sizes.

Have fun! Pity the fun police were/are changing minimum pillion ages
in some states.

Hi, my 8 year old son (slim build) has now shown a passion to riding
with me on the weekends. This is the best thing in the world to share
my passion with my boy. I have bought him his own helmet, but am
having all sorts of trouble finding anywhere that sell jackets for
children, and I could only find motorcross gloves to fit him. Anyone
know of where to find such apparel?

At this stage my only options are to clad him in an MX outer shell or
an XXS? ladies Jacket.

Thanks,

Ray

Hi there BA'ers,

Happy New Year to all!

I like the idea of BA World Cup Soccer round 2 on the 14th. The first round
was a classic day of fun. Well done committee.

OK, I'm spreading a rumour, or at least trying to get the facts clear. I've
heard through a friend's, friend's, wife who works for NRMA that the State
Government is going to slowly remove the current green slip subsidy for
bikes over the next 2 years. It is likely that green slips in NSW for high
capacity bikes (over 600cc) will go over $1000.

Can someone, anyone confirm or debunk this? Please tell me it isn't so.

If this is the true intention of the current government how do we go about
getting the opposition to stand against it?

I'm usually the most politically apathetic person I know, but this so wrong
I just have to do something about it.

Thoughts, comments or facts anyone?

Andre
