Well the day started off cool & we got going along bells line, darling causeway,
down mt vic & out to Oberon for feul & a break. The old mate on the ktm got a
flat in his back tyre, so he stayed their to fix it. Then out to Taralga where
we came across some cattle on the road & bill tried to swap rides & become a
roedo rider instead. Then down to the dirt & back to oberon for lunch, the ktm
rejoined us, then onto mt vic for feul. Had a couple of boy racers try & carve
us up going up mt vic & they paided the ulimate price by both off them coming
down. They were okay & later rode off, we then headed for kurrajong heights
hotel for a drink, then home. On the way home we got a few red lights & cheeky
jo tried to drag me off from the lights & she had me on one set but didn,t keep
it nailed to go, anyhow i had fun playing silly buggers. To all the riders who
came out today thank you for one of the best ba rides i,ve been on, a fast ride
& fast company, & i would give todays ride a 6 bike rating cheers greg

A couple of peopale asked me on thrus night for the URL to the pics I took at a
recent Eastern Creek trackday, so here it is again.

http://tinyurl.com/v4p7h

If your not on the first page, keep scrolling as theirs roughly 800 pics in
total.

If you want a full resolution version then please email me with the file name as
it is on the photobucket site and I'll send it to you. Multiples are fine, I'll
just upload them to a server for you to download off as they will be too big for
email.

The single sided swing arm is one of the things I absolutely loved about the
VFR's I have owned mate

Just try and move it before you buy the bike to see if it has seized, I very
much doubt it has

I went and had a look at a Honda Bros 400 on behalf of my
doing-his-L's-this-weekend friend today. TOP learner bike, in my
opinion. But one potentially minor or potentially huge issue - the
single-sided swingarm.

The Bros has an ELF-designed (as in Renault-ELF, not Santa's Elf)
single-sided swingarm. I think the VFR's use the same design?

The chain on this bike was completely ratshit. Corroded, gunked up,
stretched.. and so much free play that it didn't just -touch- the
centrestand, it *draped over* it. Which brings me to the real issue.

I understand that chain adjustment on these single-sided doohickeys is
achieved by rotating an eccentric adjuster. I had a quick look and
couldn't spot one anywhere. I've been looking around on the net and
come up with all sorts of stuff about it and I've kind of learnt:

* The eccentric on these is the hub itself between the wheel and the
swingarm?
* It's adjusted by C-spanner, or more often by someone whacking it with
a screwdriver and hammer, and thereby f***ing it up
* They also like to seize in place, if this happens (or if it's been
f***ed up with a screwdriver and hammer) it's a mongrel job to pull the
whole hub apart and fix it. Parts just plain don't exist.
* There's a locknut to be undone before adjusting the eccentric - this
isn't the Very Big Nut through the hub to the swingarm is it?? That
would mean use of a Very Big Breakerbar..

The single-sided swingarm is likely to be a make or break decision for
what otherwise appears to be a pretty bloody brilliant learner bike, so
any advice (especially from VFR owners.. or Bros owners if any exist?)
would be GREATLY appreciated.

A decision needs to be made on this one by tonight (Sunday)

Thanks,
-Pik, "it's that, or a ZZR250 without 400cc of V-twin torque and with
more plastic to break when it's dropped"

Hi all

As I have upgraded to mummy's hand me downs, yes my mother traded up (her
boyfriend bought her a new bike as a surprise birthday pressie - where do I get
one of those) and I got her sv650 Suzuki big bird, my 1999 Kwacka ZZR 600 is up
for sale. It had 36000kms on the clock. Has been dropped a couple of times so
there are scratches on the left hand side (doh!). Very comfortable ride both in
town and on those lovely long trips.

It is mechanically great with good tyres. Was a fantastic first step up from the
unrideable GPX250 held together with 100 mile an hour tape. The bike has been
regularly serviced since I bought it as my (Zoran's) wedding present to myself
in 2003.

It has a Ventura rack and two front screens. There is rego til 19 November. I am
sure there is other stuff I should say about it.

I am asking $6,500. I am located in Kiama currently, come down for a look see
but if necessary can have it available in Hurstville for inspection.

Give me a call on 0417 285 200 or for mechanical type questions ring Zoran on
0419 890 890.

Nomes

new M/C will be provided. The trip would be
approximately 8 weeks in duration. This is not a
race. Photography and writing skills would be a
plus. I have travelled around Aust. three times on
a M/C over the past years. Two of which were
sponsored trips. This is a sima sponsored trip for
promotional reasons. Photos and stories will be in

Hi Jennifer,

Do you know of anyone who would be interested in this?

I spoke to Frank. He is around 60 I would guess & has
had a number of articles in magazines & newspapers on

If I had no commitments I would be extremely tempted

Family Camp Motor bike rides
Saturday 17th February 2007

Place: The Tops Conference Centre Stanwell Tops
Time: From about 1pm till 5pm

WANTED
SAFE RESPONSIBLE RIDERS
WILLING TO TAKE KIDS & PARENTS ATTENDING THE CAMP FOR A RIDE

BACKGROUND TO THIS DAY
The Camp Quality Ride Day is an initiative of a few motorcycle
riders in conjunction with Camp Quality and has been held for a few
years at Greenwell Point during April/May of each year. This date
corresponds with a weekend away hosted by Smithfield RSL Fishing
Club for the children suffering the effects of Cancer or who may be
recovering from various forms of treatment. At this particular ride
the only participants are the children who wish to enjoy the fun and
excitement experienced by being a pillion on a motorcycle around the
local Greenwell Point roads.
Due to the success of these events Camp Quality asked whether we
would like to participate in a slightly larger event to be held at
Stanwell Park and naturally all agreed wholeheartedly.
The aim this time was to ensure that all family members were
involved as Cancer does not just affect the one who is ill it
affects the whole family ,siblings & parents lives are turned upside
down & having fun sometimes gets lost in the priority list
So, on 16 September 2006 we hosted a ride for the children and
families which took place during their camp weekend held at Stanwell
Park. 87 bikes & trikes as well as one side car turned up to take 28
children & 22 adults for a ride The smiles & squeals of excitement
& laughter said it all.
So now I've been asked to do this again , but even bigger
We have 24 families which means I need at least 100 bikes
so I am asking for those interested to post their details on the
database at
http://au.groups.yahoo.com/group/bikes_friends_weekends/or contact
me or Garry Oliver directly either by
email or mobile :

Kath : email : kkemp@... mobile :042 529 4231
Garry : goliver@... : 040 395 0275

I would like to have at least 6 trikes if possible & will also need
to borrow as much spare gear as possible as we will need a good
variety of sizes .

Cheers Kath

Hi everyone

Our next Learn 'n' GRO session is just over a week away so I thought
I'd put a call out for some buddies as I currently have 11 learners
who are booked for the training.

For anyone that's unfamiliar with the program, please have a look at
the Learn'N'GRO section of our website - www.girlsrideout.com.

As a buddy, you'll be paired up with a learner for the ride to HART
from our meetpoint in the carpark at the Ranch Hotel. We generally
meet at about 7:15am and depart at 7:30(ish). Once we get to HART,
the learners are handed over to the trainer and if the buddies are
keen, we head somewhere for breakfast - Palm Beach via McCarrs Creek
Road is the usual spot!

If you're interested in helping out as a buddy please let me know
via email - LNG@...

Training will finish at approximately 12:30 after which we've
organised a presentation/demonstration run by the NRMA's Vehicle
Inspection Department covering the following:

* How to check wheel and steering head bearings and what they're
supposed to feel like;

* How to check for signs of accident damage ranging from twisted
forks to steering stop damage;

* Correct chain adjustment, tensioning, lube, etc;

* Checking tyre wear and pressure;

* What a worn sprocket looks like and what are the effects of riding
with worn sprockets (there will be examples);

* How to check brake pads for wear and how pads work (there will be
examples).

The demonstration will go for approximately an hour and while it's
been organised specifically for our "new" motorcyclists, Buddies are
more than welcome to attend.

Cheers, Karla
