Hi everyone… I should not be doing this (helping a $%#^&^&& Ducati
rider, but c'est la vie)

I friend is selling his bike – he is chasing the girlfriend in
Europe, so if anyone is interested have a look

http://www.bikepoint.com.au/DesktopDefault.aspx?
UsedBikeID=2817173&TabID=3424&Alias=bikepointau

Ducati ST3-S ABS
It's a 2006 Model only 3900km's, serviced with added pannier kit and
soft luggage inserts.
I'm asking $19,000

Please do not contact me for this - go to bikepoint and deal with him
directly, he is from my Masters course, for what I know he looks
after the bike pretty well.

p.s the typical reason for sale - going overseas - is true in this
case.

Highly unlikely. If they were within the acceptable specs someone
would have lobbied the RTA to include them and be selling them for
$10K in NSW along side RVF400's.

If the RTA doesn't list it as a LAMs bike then its not an accidental
omission. It is NOT LAMS legal.

Grey import only and Im not even aware of any bike sold by Kawasaki
Aust using the same engine.

Bikessales.com has 1 ZXR400 listed anywhere.
Bikepoint.com has 5. One is a racebike, 2 are new imports from a
dealer, one is unregistered and the other is a dealer bike with dodgy
details.

So parts are likely to be a pain to get, Id be looking at bikes that
are far more common.

The Honda RVF400 is about the only LAMS 400 in that style of bike and
they are ludicrously expensive for that reason ... and are still grey
imports.

Looking up specs on the ZXR I get a power of 47.8kW and dry weight of
159kg. Straight up that's a smidge over 300kW/tonne. Add the RTA's
usual 75kg rider/fuel allowance (that you won't find documented
anywhere) it's still over 200kW/tonne. The LAM threshold is 150kW/tonne.

So it won't be making its way onto the LAM list.

I'm pretty sure there's no allowance for restricting a bike's power
output (not that you'd want to anyway - a bike designed to have 30kW
peak power is going to have a MUCH nicer power curve than one designed
for 45kW but artificially restricted to 35kW) just the same as there's
no allowance for adding weight to the bike to lower its power:weight
ratio. It's factory-or-nothing, which is fair enough. Exceptions for
this and for that are a sure fire way to turn it all into a bureaucratic
nightmare.

A friend of mine is selling his Bros 400. Learner-legal V-twin,
beautiful torque curve (as in, it doesn't doesn't feel like it HAS a
curve, just a nice plateau). Quite possibly the best learner bike I've
seen. And no, I'm not just trying to push the sale for him :)

With the Aussie $ hovering at it's current high of about 87cents/USDollar Now is
defiantly a good time to buy from the USA.

Snoop around the net for specials in the states and you may be able to buy some
early xmas goodies for yourself at less that 1/2 regular retail here in Oz.

Currency Converter: http://www.xe.net/cgi-bin/ucc/convert

NOTE: Any helmet sourced outside Oz will not have the Australian Standard Label
"AS1698", a fine of about $200(?) can be dished out by any cop who notices it's
missing. Though that's the fluffy end of the stick... If you bin it and end up
with head injuries (no matter who's fault), insurance companies may refuse to
cover you due to your negligence in not having an approved helmet. And it
doesn't matter if it's got SNELL, DOT or any other marking or approval... it's
just the law.

Hi all, short notice i know, but we are in need of some help... yet
again :)

Sarah-Jane and I are off to Melbourne for the bike show and then onto
the MotoGP with the Racing4MS display and need to find someone to
house/cat sit for a couple of weeks, starting next Tuesday 2nd Oct.

We are in North Ryde, with the bus to the city at the door, garage
space for a bike or two, the cats are low maintenance - but need
cuddles - there is one other thing, but it's best if I tell you about
it if you are interested :)

hope someone out there can help, give me a call on 0418 628 503 if
interested

Even better a Kawasaki on the podium, pity West jumped the start. He should
have changed bikes on his pit lane drive through penalty. He would have
kicked arse. Oh well go the Kwaka's.

It would have been nice to have an elbow to elbow fight between Rossi
and Stoner, but it was still an interesting race.

Great to see Elias do well, if only he could ride at his best more
than a couple of times a year.

Phillip Island should be great. The pressure is off Stoner and
Rossi/Yamaha. Vermeulen is only 4 points behind Hopkins and Rizla
Suzuki can still beat Fiat Yamaha for second placed team.

... and West keeps showing he can be a threat to the top guys.

Motohansa sell a good one - Talk to Andy on 9638 4488.

I've being using it for years.

They also sell a socket that you wire into your bike that not only allows
you to plug in the trickle charger but also the heated vest, camp light and
air pump etc.

Just a heads up, the motorcycle first aid course IS NOT a work cover certified

Subject: [Mcc-delegates] CTP - Let's Hear the ROAR!!!!

  G'day People,

As Guy says we need to stir this one up a lot more, with thanks to those
that have started the process. If you are not sure what we are talking about
here it is the very real possibility of motorcycle green slips getting to
$1,000 to $1,500 OR MORE in the next couple of years.

The words being put down say this is a sure thing, not speculation! At the
moment the most noticeable thing on this list:

www.mccofnsw.org.au/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=96&Itemid=115

is the amount of clubs / people that AREN'T on it!!!!

I am hoping that is because people haven't got around to telling me about
what you've been doing....?

I intend to update the list on Monday evening, hopefully there will be a lot
of action at least over the weekend and we can get some real speed up. For
my part I intend to start ringing the offices of the non-respondents I have
written to and find out why.

I would also say that the pro-forma letter I wrote is TOO LONG! Remember, I
am a self-professed fully inexperienced oxymoron! at this stuff. Very
plainly what we want to say is:

$20 or else we'll be round to rip yer bloody arms orf,

Make the committee do the job properly and not take superficial shit from
MAA,

And

OUR OPINION MATTERS!!!!!!!

Which will only happen if we show we are a solid force with lot's of voters
that we can influence. Right now we are somewhere around the level of a
meaningless babble. It is time to become a ROAR!!!!

So let's hear it peoples. Thanks.

Kindest regards,
Vince Sunter

MOTORCYCLE COUNCIL OF NSW

Keep those letters rolling in to politicians!

Main question "What happened to a $20 increase?"
Let them know you are unhappy about being misled.

A sample type letter is available from here:

http://www.mccofnsw.org.au/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=95&Item
id=114

Put your complaint in your own words, but ask the big questions

Thank you to those who have already commenced this action!
We have the first glimmer of movement.

We are also now having useful discussions with other interested parties who
have noted the content of our submission.

THE REASON FOR SENDING LETTERS TO POLITICIANS:
To encourage the Law & Justice Committee to use strenuous efforts to get to
the facts behind CTP charges.
Otherwise, they will just accept the answers given by the MAA, assuming them
to be adequate.
The answers provided by the MAA are FAR from adequate, yet have been
accepted in the past.
The best "encouragement" is to ensure a range a of politicians are wanting
the same questions answered, so they can reply to the people who vote for
them and who wrote to them.

Send a letter or email to your local member of Parliament and as many in the
Upper House as you care, especially Liberals, Greens and other minor
parties.

Now go and look up the MCC website and send a pollie an email or letter.

If you want to ensure that you are not about to be priced off the road, act
NOW !
If you couldn't be bothered, then bend over and pay up, but keep out of the
way of those prepared to take action.

Write a letter!
Send it!

Subject: Greenslip prices for Motorcyclists

Mr Barry Robert O'Farrell & Mrs Judy Hopwood,

I am writing to you on behalf of Bikers Anon, a social motorcycle club that has
members in your electorate and travels within it as a group. We are concerned
that the Great Green Slip Rip-Off is about to be executed on motorcyclists - it
has already started as premiums have been escalating significantly recently. We
(and the hundreds of other motorcycle riders in your electorate) would certainly
appreciate it if you would look into the situation and let us know a bit more
about what is going on - and hopefully be able to steer it towards better
outcomes please.

The "Lifetime Care and Support" portion of the Green Slip levies is, according
to Hansard and published papers from the Motor Accidents Authority (MAA), meant
to be a $20 average increase in Green Slip prices for all vehicles regardless of
vehicle type. Total MCIS levies (including ambulance & hospital levies) should
be around $50-$60 - but they are much higher now for motorcyclists. In the
recent proceedings of the Standing Committee on Law Justice review of the MAA
they are threatened to escalate a lot more.

Our basic questions are:

1) What happened to the $20 promise?

2) What are the further increases that Mr. Bowen of MAA is proposing?

3) Does the current and proposed further increases have a fair basis? Or is this
an example of a cash grab by stealth to prop up other parts of the system?

4) Why isn't the information re future Green Slip increases readily available to
the public?

5) Why no transparency to the process to significantly increase Green Slip
Pricing, eg no consultation with Motor Cycle Council of NSW?

Specifically we are concerned about what Mr Bowen of the MAA said at the top of
page 18 (labelled page 17)
ca2573450003541c/$FILE/270807%20Uncorrected%20Transcript.pdf> of this document
(please follow link for information).

The particulars of this review can be found
<http://www.parliament.nsw.gov.au/prod/PARLMENT/Committee.nsf/0/53A53A80E55D6B17\
CA2572ED001CE31A> here.

Over the last 5 years that Bikers Anon has been established as a social
motorcycle club it makes every effort to foster all that is good about enjoying
Motorcycling and riding within the Hornsby region and environs. What we are
about is encouraging responsible recreational use of motorcycles while out and
about in the Hornsby district. The bottom line of these sorts of activities is
not only to have good fun socialising with friends, but to do real things that
genuinely reduces the likelihood of people coming to grief whilst enjoying their
recreational motorcycling.

If the MAA gets their way, rather than be held accountable to administer a just
and fair system, it will only make it all the harder for groups like ours to be
successful at improving things within our local community. There are much more
effective ways to reduce the impact/likelihood of motorcycle accidents on the
community than to make motorcyclists pay for being so expensive for other people
to hit.

We will certainly appreciate your interest in this issue and of course any
action that achieves a better outcome. Thank you.

Regards,

Jason Ruth
