Subject: RE: [bikers_anon] Updating of the "Members Section" of the Bikers
Anon Website

Hi Graham,

Recently I have taken on the partial roll of updating the website. Not that
I'm complaining. I actively pursued the task and I'm happy to continue with
the support of the webmaster, committee and feedback from the BA membership.
I primarily concerned myself with making sure the site contained useful,
updated ride content information. I.e. the front page. Yes the rest of the
site needs an overhaul and update.

Yes the members area is full of "old faces" and we have struggled to get new
photos from people who are willing to have their image and details put on a
website and that includes the current committee. As the website is freely
open to all to see, unlike the yahoo group we only publish photos of people
who have given us the photo themselves and permission to use it. This
excludes the photos taken on rides and social events from being used.

So I'm putting the call out to all. Who wants to be on our website? Please
send me a Bio and a suitable photo and I'll make you a web-star. Graham this
includes you mate.

At the next committee meeting, I'll bring up your specific comments about
committee members pics and push to have that area of the site updated in the
near future. Now where is my digital camera?

Until next time,

Andre.

Subject: [bikers_anon] Updating of the "Members Section" of the Bikers Anon
Website

This message is generally directed to the Bikers Anon Committee -
I was looking over the BA website today. When I clicked on
the "Members" section of the website, I made a mental note that it
was bably in need of an update.

Nearly every day there is new messages from various members of the BA
group. Every month there is notifications of rides taking place with
a nominated person leading the ride. A great number of the rides are
photograhed by members showing pictures of the other members in
groups, on or beside their bikes, etc. When we have a social function
there is generally photographs of those attending or generally just
having a good time.

GETTING TO THE POINT: So why can't we update the "Members Area" of
the website and put pictures of as many of the participating BA
members and committee as possible, with at least their first name and
the type of bike that they ride (and update it on a regular basis).
This would give the members the ability to put a face behind the name
(if they are unaware or have not been officially introduced) and give
greater credibility to the club, its social happenings and strengthen
the website generally.

This is purely a suggestion and I hope that the committee gives it
further consideration.

Regards,
Grahamcbr1000rr

Yes, please do! I donated today and chalked one more up for motorcyclists,
but I really did it because I was able to (see below if you are curious as
to why)

I am a special blood donor, one of what's known as a 'red panel cell donor'
My regular donations do not get used for blood transfusions, rather, parts
of my blood (red panel cells) are used to determine if a donated unit of
blood is likely to be rejected by the recipient. I usually donate during a
set 10-day window (along with all other panel cell donors), after which the
ARCBS divvies up our blood into the necessary parts and sends them off to
the hospitals around the country. I cannot donate within 70 days of my
previous/next donation - I missed my last 'window' (due to Christmas/New
Year) and my next donation window ENDS 70 days from today. Therefore I
donated today, which was the last day I could donate before killing my
'window' next time around.

I personally believe if you _can_ donate, please do, and not just for the
bushfire victims - do it for the good of many people out there! I also
wished there was a way that the people who are excluded (BSE/Mad Cow-infused
people who lived in the UK too long) could be screened as I know a lot of
people who would love to donate but aren't allowed to.

Cheers,

--- Beasty ---

I booked a room at the Commercial Hotel in Walcha today. They are
holding the last two rooms for us. A room with a Queen bed and 2
singles, and a room with 4 singles. Beyond that we may be able to fit
the odd person in in existing rooms but if you want a double/queen bed
you better hurry.

I also tried to book into the Australian Hotel at Wingham however
Annie who is looking after allocating the BA pre-booked rooms only
works thursday and friday apparently.

It was a warm sunny afternoon and perfect riding conditions when we set
off at 4pm on Saturday afternoon - it was particularly lovely to see
some returned riders joining the group (especially my "bitch" Bill) who
relished at being on a real bike for once!! (Ducati plug here....)
11 of us rode up the old road and onto the new section of the old road
(yum!) to Patonga for fish and chips and a swim for some! How
refreshing that was! The faster riders left for an afternoon blast
whilst the rest of us went to the pub to do what comes naturally..here
we met with Steven and his mate and we all had an awesome ride home
through the old road again at dusk - it was a really nice ride, no
losses, casualities, kangaroos or fires. Thanks to all who rode and
see you soon.

On the 22nd March there will be a rally in sydney as a show of numbers
to impress upon the govt the numbers of riders in NSW.

This is NOT a protest rally.

Its a positive thing just to show that there are a LOT of us out there
so we should be listened to. Its being organised by Tex (the guy with
the blue cattle dog Bundy on his tank, who does charity work, etc) and
his partner Jenny.

More details when they become available.

Tomorrow a mate and I are planning a day ride from Sydney to the
Hunter area. At the moment we are intending to go to the Hunter for a
relaxed lunch (probably restuarant rather than pub). The route has
not been decided yet but will involve twisties and infrequent
stopping.

OR

if there aren't enough twisties we may have a short lunch and do
Buckett's way. In either case we will probably return via the Putey
Rd (unless too hot in which case we will stay closer to the coast).

If you are a proficient rider (say 3.5 star rating), confident
travelling long distances and attacking twisties you are welcome to
join us for all or part of the way.

Meet at Shell Servo, Taylors Sq (Sydney) for departure at 0800 and
probably one other meeting point depending on the route. Will post
route later - any suggestions welcome.

Cheers

Steven

At a BA event somewhere (possibly a ride day at EC) last year I spoke with
someone who performed a de-sewing machine exhaust medication to a Honda
Shadow motorcycle by "de-baffling" the core of the standard pipes. He spoke
of using a long drill bit inserted in the tail piece and gaining an instant
note to the sound of the motor.

..or was that a strange dream I just had....

Does anybody want to own up to this?

I have a mate who is keen to see and hear the results, possibly even go down
this path himself.

Thoughts, comments or pitfalls anybody?

Sleep deprived, Andre

Sunday started out with perfect warm weather and ten keen riders
heading to Kangaroo Valley for lunch via the Nasho. Shannon lead the
pack and it quickly became cool and vision impaired as the fog came in -
so much for the view at Stanwell Tops! There we met up with three new

lunch at a local cafe. After lunch we rode to the lookout at the top of

thanks guys! After a drink at Picton pub we all headed to where we
needed to be. We covered almost 440kms and even though it was long,
hot, cold, fog, hot, traffic, slow lunch, missing the corner-marker,
watching fellow riders do stupid overtakes!!!! (and most of us are

Hey all,

Saturday 21st February is completely booked out now. Sorry to those that
missed out. They are really filling up quick especially on the weekends and
in B1/B2 groups.

So, I'm running the next couple out of the peak weekend timeslots.

Friday 13th March at Eastern Creek. I suggest that we forgo the group
booking and individually book with ECRD on this link
http://tinyurl.com/bhewsu as it is the cheapest way to get there at $179.
But please send me an e-mail if you book yourself in so I know who to look
out for. This does not include lunch, special treatment or any BA fund
raising. If you would still like to use me to book you in this day it will
cost $190. Yes it more but it includes lunch, BA fund raising at $5 and a
nice warm fuzzy feeling.

Easter Monday 13th April at Eastern Creek. Book through me to get this day
at $190.

To book either or both days, send me an e-mail.

So that's it...until my next e-mail update!

Cheers,

Andre

On Gixxers dropping the triples is usually limited by where the forks
change diameter. Im pretty sure youre not gonna get near 2 1/2" You
may need to work out how low you can go, then work out how much you
lower both ends based on that and the options the dog bones give you.
Or there may be ways to get around the problems with the forks.

It might also be worth checking out some Gixxer forums such as
www.gixxer.com to see what people normally do with the suspension. For
instance, on the K6/7 750 some guys lift the triples until the forks
are flush, for better feel. So this might mean you could drop the rear
slightly more than the front (if you get what i mean). You will also
find some threads on lowering the various gixxers.

... and/or Terry Hay (Shock Treatment) is out at Wallacia.
