I consider it simply as theft. Call the coppers and ask them to hang out just
around the corner until the person's ID'd.

Agreed, his personal property has been stolen, but did he take the necessary
actions to protect it?

It's hard to imagine a fellow motorcyclist going through with something like
this and being serious. I half think it is a prank and he'll get the keys
back only suffering a mild razing (or slap on the side of the head) from
another rider. After all he has paid his karma tax by helping out other
riders in the past.

On the other hand anyone could have picked up the keys...and anything is
possible. Now before anyone chimes in about how righteous riders are or
aren't, I'm not saying that only a fellow rider "would do the right thing"
and everyone else wouldn't. I believe it's just more likely that a rider
would notice such a thing as keys being left in the ignition of a parked
bike.

Does this sort of thing fall under the legal definition of extortion? "What
if" our hapless victim was to record the key/money exchange and then expose
the crook for what he/she is? He might get his money back and some chance of
legal payback but now the crook now knows where the bike is parked during
the day.

I'm just talking out of my arse so, anyone who can offer some decent advice,
please do so.

Good luck mate.

Andre

It's also more than he'd have paid if his bike and his keys had been
left right where they were.
The keys were stolen. Simple as that.

I did read the legend on the website but "Challenging ride" doesn't really say
much. I think I've done a 3 bike ride a while back and have certainly done all
day rides before.

I might do another 3 bike one and see how I go. Thanks Jason :-)

Taken from our website:

1 = Specific L & P ride.
2 = Short novice friendly ride. L & P friendly.
3 = Half to full day. Intermediate ride.
4 = Challenging ride. No novices. Experienced riders only. Full
leathers recommended.
5 = Challenging roads and conditions. +++500km ride. No new members.
No novices. Full leathers expected.

A lot depends on your confidence and comfort on your bike. Start off
by coming along to a 1, 2 or 3 bike ride depending on your confidence
levels. Then progress as you feel comfortable.

When you come along on a ride, talk to the ride coordinator and the
tail-ender. They will be more than happy to help you on the day.

What determines the number of bikes assigned to a ride ? The length of the ride
? The number of tight corners ? etc.

Also, how would you class a rider as experienced ?

I'd hate to join a ride and find myself totally out of depth.

Many thanks to Tracey for giving her time so generously last night at our BA
dinner at Sopranos.

I feel sure i can speak for all that attended that it was an extremely
informative talk and demonstration. Thanks there to her husband Roger for
being the "dummy/body".

For me personally as the "tail end rider in chief" the information taken on
board was priceless but hopefully i will not need to put to use.

Thanks again

Cut and pasted from Bikeme.tv in response to a complaint to the RTA
about the new 40kmh speed limits on the Old Pacific Highway:

“Dear Mr ……….

The RTA has not authorised any drop in the speed limit of the Pacific
Highway to 40 km/hr. Gosford Council without RTA approval has
implemented this for roadworks. I will be discussing this urgently
with Council today to resolve the matter.

Very interesting….

Youre ALL girls blouses, I did the nasho again on the way home! :)
The road was much drier than in the morning, even though i wasn't. I could
hardly feel my hands in my cold wet gloves (4:30pm).

While the roads were very wet in the first half of the day, the skies were
mostly blue. On the way home the skies were steel grey and we copped heavy rain
on and off. The dry first bend at kiama bends had me excited but then the rest
were wet :(

Despite not having a lot of confidence in corner traction in the morning and
getting wet and a bit cold in the afternoon I had a fun day.

A big thank you goes out to Sean for his mature assistance throughout this
ride. He took control at the accident scene and proposed sensible ride
alterations based on the continuously changing weather and road conditions.
We even got him to lead the group for the 2nd half of the ride. Cheers mate.

Also thanks to Nathaniel for pointing out my inadequacies. Being as tense as
I was riding in the wet and damn cold coming home, I needed every piece of
clothing I had. Yes, even the blouse.

With the weather behaving itself, contradictory to the previous days reports
7 BA'ers met up at Gymea servo before heading off to Kangaroo Valley. The
group consisted of an even mix of old and new members...well as even as u
can divide 7 ppl without hurting anyone.

On Sean's advice we cut into the Nasho at Waterfall as there is some
resurfacing going on. With Andre leading doing a responsible pace given he
was on Rachel's Ducati, roads were wet and having an L and P plater in tow
we had enjoyable run through the bottom half of the Nasho and onto MT Kiera.

It was just before a particularly tight and tricky right hander that I got
the idea that Andre had his blouse on under his jacket and I would take a
turn leading. It was on that same corner I was later told that our P plater
Dan who I believe was behind me came off. Dan's OK, possible broken little
toe, lucky he had his RJ riding shoes as they undoubtedly saved his foot
from a nasty gash. The GT250R lost a mirror and blinker but in true BA style
he soldiered on all the way.

After meeting up at Albion park we were off thru Mac Pass :) With the skies
threatening and the time getting on we scrapped our plans of a detour via
Jambaroo and continued on Kangaroo Valley for Lunch.

Luckily we got to Kangaroo Valley without getting wet, unfortunately by the
time we arrived home we were soaked.

Hi Winona,

Glad to see you’re interested in coming along.

We have a description of the X bike legends on the web page
http://www.bikersanon.com/ along with our upcoming rides. Note a Putty 4
bike ride on 14/6 and Hartley 3 bike ride on 21/6. You could turn up to
either/both of these and judge the riding level for yourself.

I think that we will run a 3 bike ride and a much longer (+600km) 5 bike
ride to get to the same final destination. Both will “probably leave”
(undecided at this point in time) from McGraths Hill McDonalds
(http://www.bikersanon.com/?q=meetingpoints), but at different times.

Don’t take this the wrong way, but we usually don’t encourage new members to
turn up for a 5 bike rated ride as their first one with BA. If this is what
you were thinking? Please try to attend the 4 bike ride on 14/6 and have a
chat with the ride leader and other committee members who can give you a
better guide.

Don’t forget to add your name to our database.

See you at the bar,

Andre
