Ahhh, a curious sales pitch.... "... selling cause of broken leg."
Mentioning the broken leg is bad enough!.... but if you read the quote (above)
again carefully - what caused the broken leg? The attempt to sell it???
An excellent case for 'Apostrophe Man'.

Honda nx650 (93) XAZ-45 (rego run out) Supermotard CR500 forks
17" 3.5 and 4.25 wheels laced. 320mm braking disc. 95% complete

intended!) are required to assure yourself a place.

Please RSVP to ChrisT@... <mailto:ChrisT@...> by 5pm
Wednesday April 2nd.

Cost: $20
Venue: DeNiro's, Mount St. North Sydney.
Time: 7:30pm (be early!)

On saturday, while Robyn and Philipp were learning how to ride a 250
slowly, Louise, SJ, Linda, myself and 2 non BA's attended the HART
level 11 training course. The course is about seeing potential
hazards and being ready to avoid them if possible, rather than laying
balle on the other vehicle while lying in a hospital bed. We sarted
off learning that some of us (including me) ride waaaaaaay too close
behind other vehicles, by doing some quick stops from 40, 60 and 80k.

Then we went for a ride up the "old road" learning to keep a safe
distance, set up the brakes (remember that from learners training?),
lane position to create a buffer to other vehicles, and correct safe
cornering lines (which also turn out to be the ideal racing lines).
This was something i really enjoyed and got a lot out of, no more
running too hot into the second turn after riding fast through the
first one.

Next we were encouraged to lean the upper body into curves (out to
Mangrove Mountain via Peats Ridge) and then hang your arse off the
seat (Old Road from Somersby to Mt White). The idea was not to go
faster (which was the obvious consequence) but to keep the bike more
upright and therefore have more flexibility in lean angle, as well as
increased traction. It was very funny watching a string of riders
hanging exageratedly off the sides of their bikes doing near legal
speeds thru corners. Im sure i wasnt going any faster than normal but
it felt like it and it was great fun. At the penultimate stop at Mt
White we discussed fatigue and dehydration and then it was back to
the HART centre for a debrief.

We had a great day and learnt a lot about safe riding. I also learnt
a lot about going quicker through corners (lines and technique) which
was a useful bonus.

Definitely worth the price (with a discount for members).

Thank you Luke for such a prompt and informative ride report.
Oh, and the name you're looking for is Jo Tobin on the Suzuki Veloshian (I have
no idea how to spell that!).
My splinter group (me, Craig, Zoran, Paul, Lachlan (we lost Doug), Greg, Allen
and Steve) went back down the Pass, refueled at Albion Park then up Mount Keira
(what a great road!). Back then to Stanwell for some heavy windy hang-gliding
activity watching, then back up the Nasho to head for home.
A great day had by all, and some pretty spectacular weather. Thank you everyone
who turned up ... looks like the Bapmug rides are always worth coming along to.
Ride safe!

  Luke Burton <luke@...> wrote:
Hi all,

Just a quick overview of how our ride went for those who missed it!

I am guessing we saw about 25 bikes starting off from the carpark
before the Nasho. I managed to get a photo or two (just before another
set of riders arrived): http://www.hagus.net/bapmug/march2003... but
the rest of the day was either jammed with riding or conversation so I
didn't get a chance to take any more!!

The trip through the Nasho was quite good - apart from an incident
where one of Marty's friends almost had a serious accident when his
front wheel buckled spontaneously, sending the bike careening across
oncoming traffic into the dirt at the side of the road. Miraculously,
he saved it! Great work indeed.

A brief stop in the carpark after the park to regroup, and then it was
off to Macquarie pass. The group I rode in hit cars about half way up,
which was a bit of a bummer. But I hear some other groups had a
relatively clean run. I hear Iain needs to chop a few seconds off his
times up the pass ... may I suggest adding a nitrous bottle?

The Cheese Factory (or whatever it's called) at Robertson was soon
inundated with motorcyclists demanding food and coffee. I'd say the
grub here is worth the wait - the iced chocolate gets my personal
recommendation.

We fragmented a bit after this. Myself, Kao, Saliya, Walid and someone
on a Suzuki cruiser (I didn't catch her name: Sarah you'd probably
know?) meandered through some back lanes into Mittagong for a fuel
stop, then through more back roads onto Picton. No other bapmuggers
turned up at the Picton pub, so it was just a quick stop there for some
liquids.

After taking the highway into the city, Saliya and myself ended up
heading up to OPH to satisfy a craving for some serious windy stuff
(the best set of corners outside of a racetrack, IMHO), and to suck
down yet another coffee and more food. The cops were absolutely fscking
everywhere, but some very helpful headlight flashes from passing
motorists (cars, no less!) helped avoid a fine.

Special thanks to Marty and Sarah for inviting lots of their cronies
out as well! It made for a great bunch of people and a great day.

Till next time ...

Rgz,

Luke.

Just uploaded some photos of eastern creek ride day.

Hope all the girls that came a long had a good time.

Chris or Grant can probly give some lap times. ??

TrixiDeb was fast and consistent. She had a big smile
on her dial thats for sure.

TrixiChick set her personel best lap time.

I didnt feel comfortable pushing fast (in light of
my last outing at the creek) until the last session when
i got into a pretty good Rhythm, not sure of my times
for it but i am sure they would of been better
than my slow 2m15 and 2m20's earlier in the day.

Cheers Liam

G'day guys,

Just a quick note that I posted the pictures taken at the end of
today's Honda Australia Roadcraft Training riding skills training
(folder's called HART...).

It was a fantastic weekend - I'm totally knackered, just as well that
there's a whole week's worth of work coming to recuperate for next
weekend (when the skills learnt today will hopefully be implemented
on TRACK!)

For those of you who didn't manage to come: It's exciting, it's
useful, and it's great FUN - ring HART on 9144 5725 and request
course info. Mention BA and bring your card and you'll get a discount!

Cheers to Robert and Graham for making this weekend a BIG SUCCESS!

Folks,

Sunday 30th March at 8am in the morning. Carpark just before the Nasho,
just after the trainline. Meet there for a breakfast run through the
Nasho, up Macquarie's ass, then to Robertson somewhere for food.
Probably home via Picton for those who want more.

If you're fully held up somewhere, give me a ring or SMS, that
way we'll know to wait for you or get underway if the delay is very
lengthy. We want a nice early start to beat the cops and the traffic!

Subject: [girlsrideout] Free track session - any Bikers Anon people?

Hi all

I'm not a yahoo member and tried to put a reminder on the Bikers Anon forum but
couldn't.

Does anyone know if there are any Bikers Anon people going tomorrow? Could
someone perhaps post a reminder?

Colette, I noticed you want to know if people can come along to watch. Yes,
anyone is welcome, adults, children (but no animals!), bike, car. There is no
entry
charge and you are free to wander around the pits, walk up onto the roof to
watch, talk to people, watch how other people set up their bikes, marvel at how
the race people do it (although tomorrow most of the racers will be at Phillip
Island). People are generally VERY friendly and helpful. Of course you could
listen to the briefing if you are interested.

There is free tea, coffee and biscuits so drop in for a coffee. There is a kiosk
on
site which is a bit like an Ag Show type stall - hot chips, drinks, etc.

Or better still, come along and ride! So far only FOUR girls have booked for the
free session! That's one quiet road. There will be very little traffic, lots of
help,
and you might even win a prize. In fact, at the moment we have more prizes than
people!

We do have a fast rider to take pillions if you want to see what it's like, and
if
every you've wondered about a glitch on your bike, what tyres to use etc - why
not
ask the pros!

If anyone has any queries please call me! No question is a stupid one! I'll be
at
home tonight on 9785 1117 or my mobile 0411 722 429.

Best regards

Marilyn

I did exactly that on the arvo they had a free womens session (went
along with Lou, Robyn and SJ). No cost to watch. But take food and
drink along because there's really nothing to buy there. Its fun to
watch for a while but gets boring quickly (no racing just people
circulating). Preferable to go when there are plenty of people you
know riding.

Hi all,

Just a general question...are people allowed to just go along and watch on a
track day at the Creek without necessarily participating? If so, is there at
fee to get in?

Thanks,

Have confirmed 2 police riders for DeNero's on Thursday 3rd, Vince and
Julian.

Will be visiting them at 2pm on Monday 31, March (next Monday) to talk
things over. Hopefully Robyn can join me.

Will need some ideas how to present the idea to the group. Please forward
your thoughts. Most important is NO HECKLING! or arse holes giving them
shit.

Vince (police) has given me his home + mobile # if I need to talk to him...
IE he's real friendly and is looking forward to being with us on the night.
