Was talking about the same thing last night. I don't think they have sensors,
but wouldn't hurt to ask. I'm considering moving north and worked out the
difference in price between the e-tag (no discount, $3 a day for 3 months -
$180) and the sticker (about $90 for 3 months). I recently got an e-tag, which
is now bike legal if you get a new one - provided you don't keep it on the bike
so it doesn't get stolen or wet. Handy for cashback on the M4 and M5, and keep
it outta sight in your bag when doing the bridge.

Update:
	 * At the end of this email you will find the questions the MCC wish
to gather statistics on.
	 * You are under no obligation to answer any of these questions.
	 * The data gathered will be used for statistical purposes only by
the MCC.
	 * If you can, please fill in these questions prior to the day and
bring them along with you.
	 * Cost is now FREE! thanks to the MotorCycle Council of NSW.
	 * Measurements and data will be totally anonymous!
	 * The MCC needs ALL makes, models and ages of bikes! Every
bike/scooter is welcome.
	 * The cafe will be hosting a BBQ on the day so no need to que for a
feed!

The MCC are running a Motorcycle Noise Testing Day

	 Purpose:
With all the kafuffle over exhaust noise brewing and the $200 fines
being freely handed out to a rather unsure public by the police and EPA,
"isn't it about time to know if your bike is legal?" Even though your bike
passes it's rego check each year it may not pass an Police/EPA test for
exhaust labelling and noise. come along and see where you stand... Talk to
some experts and help support the MCC who are in amongst the politicians
fighting for your rights and freedom!

The MCC believe that it is important to get a feel for the typical
sound levels of motorcycles. Motorcycle owners who have their bikes tested
will be able to find out a very good approximation of their bikes exhaust
noise level and hence it's legality. Testing will not be done to the full
extent of ADR-39/00 however the data gathered should be very close to that
which would be gathered in the formal ADR test. The data gathered by the MCC
will be used at the highest levels of government in order to fight for that
which is right and fair... "your right to ride without fear of persecution
and to make motorcycling safer"

	 Location:
Old service station (now NRMA outpost) 100M South of Mount White
Village Store (Road Warriors Cafe), Pacific Hwy, Mt White. The plan is for
everyone to marshal at the Cafe and come over to be tested as requested.

	 Date/Time:
Saturday Sept 20th, 10am at the Berowra Mobil for a 10:30 departure.

	 Call For Volunteers:
We will require some volunteers on the day to assist with testing
(please note volunteers have to be up at Mt white by 9:00am!) Max from the
Cafe will be supplying lunch to those who wish to help. Please get in touch
with me should you be interested!

The BA side of the joint ride with GRO this Sunday has been cancelled. GRO
are still riding as planned, however BA will be running our own ride down
South.

Reason: GRO cannot comfortably cater for the number of riders who have been
joining them from BA. GRO and BA are happy with this arrangement and are on
the best of terms.

New Ride: ("Neka's run") Meeting at Loftus oval 9am for a trip down nasho
and onwards... I saw an earlier time listed however 9am seems more
realistic. "i g3z il c juz th41r!"

Ooops: "What happens to those BA riders who still turn up on the GRO ride?"
Nothing... GRO simply request that those BA members who ride with them
respect GRO rules and instructions.

Thought I'd share my events of last nite...

i pulled up next to the designated bike parking zone
outside a local take-away, but couldn't park, coz some
guy had parked his car there. Almost shook my head and
rode off, but movement caught my eye.... this clown
was making out with his girlfriend.

That someone would be go "parking" on a main street
should have rang warning bells, but i was thinking
with my stomach... so i pulled up next to his window,
gave the throttle a largish twist to get his attention
(he nearly jumped through the roof) and pointed at the
"motorcycle parking only" sign. The guy glanced at the
sign and then looked back at me with a facial
expression that was another good argument for
compulsory helemt wearing, i think it meant "I'll make
out with my shazza wherever the hell i want, and if
you try to stop me they'll have to scrape you off the
ground with a knife".

Just as his mouth opened, i'm assuming to release
those very sentiments, but possibly with a little more
swearing, a blue and white stopped dead level next to
me... they couldn't have timed it better if they
tried. They noticed the sign and the guy in the car...
flicked on that light on the side of the car that
burns out your retina if you look directly at it...
the guys facial expression changed to "oh crap", and i
left, laughing my head off. Then remembered i was
still hungry and went to the next batch of bike
parking. Which had a four wheel drive in it.

Sigh.

But it's nice to know the police can be on our side
every now and then. Especially when you get that
growing suspicion that someone is about to get out of
their car and pummell you and your bike into a
disfigured arrangement of metal and teeth.

Cheers!

Paul

Found this on an O'sea's web site, not sure if it applies to
Australian models, but worth the warning if it does, sounds like a
particularly nasty event, if it happens.

To Neka,
Mate this language of yours is creative, it is not of this era, we
mere contemporarys find it difficult to interpret, one may even

Neka, I for one find your (too many) messages more than a tad
difficult to interpret. I just skip them.

It was a response from another person to

"yup..that wud explain it..im lazy, and i dont c the point in typing

that I write this missive.

May I suggest, if you've something to say, say it simply, in clear

the 'creative' stuff,it aint up to standard.

Let's all get onto something useful, like eliminating road tolls for
motorcyles. My Etag works find in my summer jacket but I've been
troubled in my heavier winter garb.
Am fiddling with a plastic, weatherproof holder for the Etag, to be
mounted on the handlebar. Anyone tried this at all?

This is exactly what my partner, Lang, did, when he was busted for not
displaying a P plate a few years back. He took the matter to court, stood up
and literally gave the judge a demonstration of how flimsy the
standard-issue plates are. He explained (truthfully, as it happens), that he
always made sure that his bike was displaying a P plate before every ride,
and, furthermore, because the plates are so crappy, he explained that he
habitually kept at least a couple of spares under his seat. He explained
that he usually went through a standard-issue P plate at least once a
fortnight, due to the plates shredding and/or blowing off.

And, amazingly enough, he got off (however, I'm sure his otherwise squeaky
clean record helped him).

This Thursday BA are pleased to announce that Chris Coote of the Motor Cycle
Council of NSW will be informing us on the labyrinth of ill structured laws
surrounding M/C Noise.

Plan to be entertained as Chris shows us how "unusual" the laws are and how
little is truly known even by enforcement agencies...

Chris is technically astute and is currently in discussion at the highest
level of government in relation to exhaust noise issues. Later Chris will be
able to answer your questions in this area.

Be early!

What seems to be going on with P plates is completely daft - those things
are only a little sturdier than L plates, which fall off as soon as they
get a little wind or rain. The only reason my P is still there is cos
it's wedged so far under the rego plate that you can't see more than a
couple of bits of red!!

Maybe the police and RTA need a demonstration of just how pathetic their
offerings are! They're welcome to attend my ceremonial shredding of P
plate in a couple of weeks *cackle* :)

For whom-ever gives a damn,
Why does "Neka" insist on speaking in Americanese ie DUDE etc and on
truncating words/dispensing with verbs?! Chose our trans-Pacific neighbours
as role models, perhaps and in a hurry, hence the shortened English. Or
maybe there is confusion between being of few words and being of shortened
words!! Thanks for implementing the English language correctly, Doc!

NB. No pronoun has been used above, as "Neka" does not remove the
ambivalence re Neka's gender.

On my way to work on thursday last week, I was pulled over by the police,
(I'm interested if it was a chaser that pulled you over or bike police?)

It started with me noticing a big white bike creeping up on me along rookwood
rd. I hadn't done anything wrong, so I thought no worries. The officer pulled up
next to me at the next set of lights was polite asked me how I was going we had
a little chat etc then, he asked me nicely to turn into the next side st, I
asked him was there something wrong? he said no just a check.

I pulled up and hopped off wacked out my licence, as the officer walked over to
me he made a comment about Auburn having a lot of unlicenced riders, He took one
look at my licence and said your on your P's? I said yeah I am, he then said so
where your P plate? I said what are you talking about? he said you haven't got
one on the back! I said yeah I do, then went oh f*$k, hang on I got a spare in
my bag, (which I usually do) He asked me if I had it, I checked my bag and shit
me I didn't have one,

Anyways cut a long story short he let me off with a warning so a P plate is now
going to cable tied to my plate now. (not that I rode with one on my bike)
thinking now I will be running with one all the time, unfortunately it attracts
attention and other road users think that they can spook P platers etc, (which I
have also experienced with a truckie jucied up on something, group of guys in a
beat up corrolla.)

thinking I am pretty lucky, with the mods made to my little VTR is now pretty
throatie. No unleaded fuel sticker either, I was waiting for the whole defect
thing but he was a pretty nice officer,

That doesn't stop what happened to Bia sucking majorly,

Andrew.

Thank you for all the e-mails re: Bia's details I have now been in
contact with her (it is amazing how many of you are out there
   lurking)

For those of you who don't know Bia was booked yesterday for not
displaying her "P" plate. The thing that is so upsetting is that she
had been displaying the plate up until approx 500 meters up the road
when it blew off. I can understand the police officers point that he
had no way of knowing. It was just his sheer arrogance and
determination to book someone that pissed me; he bluntly admitted
that the only reason we were pulled over was because we were riding
   bikes.

Hi Guy's,

Thinking of making a formal complaint to the NSW Ombudsman - Police
re: Sunday's Ride mass pull over and the arrogant attitude of the
police officer who booked Bia (I think that was her name - not sure
if it's spelt right). Anyway the reason why I am wrting I was
wondering if anyone knows how to contact Bia?

Regards, Rob.
