Subject: [canberra_ia_community] Re: Canberra IA Cocktail Hour: Thursday 26 February 2009
A reminder: IA Cocktail Hour is on this Thursday night.
I have to pass on my apologies, I'm coming back from Melbourne as the meeting starts. Please save me a seat at dinner.
Best regards, Andrew
Ladies and Gentlemen,
Best regards, AndrewThe next Canberra IA Cocktail Hour is Thursday 26 February 2009. And it should be a truly great one.
Nathan McDonald of the Mustor Institute is going to talk about making sense of complex documents.
The Mustor Institute works hard to make the complex world of regulation, business, contracts etc accessible for, and understandable by, all through their novel "Regulatory DNA (MIS 1000)" approach. This system for navigating through these difficult domains has been described as "revolutionary" and "one of the most exciting developments".
Nathan will demonstrate the clarity and simplicity provided by the DNA method using examples such as:
- NSW Building Industry payment regulations;
- Austrac Anti Money Laundering and Counter Terrorism Financing (AML/CTF) regulations;
- Australian Department of Defence contracts; and
- Australian Taxation Office regulations.
What I find exciting about this idea personally is that I've worked on several projects that have involved communicating complex legislative rules to a variety of audiences - and anyone who has done the same will know that it is not easy to do well.
By the by, Nathan will be in town the next day (27 February 2009) and may have some time free - if you are interested in him running through the DNA method for your colleagues, please let Jessica Enders (jessica@formulate.
com.au ) know ASAP and she'll pass your details on to Nathan.
We also hope you'll join us for an informal dinner somewhere in Kingston/Manuka afterwards.
