It seems the link to the message board is no longer there.
hmmmm???

when you get onsite you may get drawn to a certain area or geographical anomaly.
you may meet some one who has already found a place.there are many ways to
choose.I would suggest going with your first instinct/gut feel.
you will generally find work shop spaces spread out throughout the whole site
independent of specific village areas,
You will find that you meet all the most relevant people in your life @ confest
in divine timing it might be 2 or 200 people depends on the number of workshops
you participate in, communal cooking activities,
Drumming, first aid, well being, fire twirling, dancing, acro, maint, setup pack
down etc
each activity brings you closer to the bigger community in confest.

Happy ConFest :-)

   Namaste!
Thanks Starman and Benny! I encountered some sort of a navigation problem at
the website. I can't find the Message Board somehow. Maybe I'm missing it?
I have another question, regarding the concept of the Villages. I understand
that hundreds of people attend Confest every year, and thus the Village idea.
How do u choose a Village? Does everyone at Confest get to meet everyone else at
some point of time during the week? Are the activities different for each
Village? Pardon the questions.

No worries Mate, Just contact DTE(confest) direct.
They have a message board to hook you up with folks
going to Confest. Also you will easily meet people in
Australia. The Australians I have met are now long
time mates. It is a fantastic country and so are most
of the people I have met.

There will also be posts on this message board.
All the stuff you need to get is easy to buy and very
affordable. You may not want to ever leave
Australia. Especially after a Confest or two. I have
been to seven so far since 1999. I am from California.
Cheers and Good on Ya Mate, Starman

Namaste!
First of all, I just wanna say how grateful i am to chance upon this
egroup. It's like my prayers are answered, almost immediately!
I'm visiting a friend in Melbourne in December and I'm really
interested in attending ConFest. The thing is, I don't know anyone
in
Australia besides my friend and I don't think she's able to get away
from her job. Is there a way where I can hook up with people going
for
this coming Confest 2005? And there are the icky details to worry
about like tentage, food and other stuff. How do I prepare myself?
Are
there any kind Aussies who are willing to take care of a foreigner
while on his spiritual retreat to Down Under?
Oh by the way, I'm from an theatre undergraduate from Singapore. I'm
also better known as a Hippie, Out-Queer, Healer, Lightworker,
Indigo
Adult and Anarchist, among other things
Do write me back? Email fleur_wicce_le_fay@..., or this group,
whatever makes you happy *smiles*

Many thanks
Peace and Love

Through the plants and animals that nourish us and the rains and the oceans
that flow through our veins: We are the Earth. We are human animals, related to
all other life as descendants of the firstborn cell. We share a common history,
written in our genes, and a present and future that is filled with our
uncertainty.
Within the Scenic Hunter Valley, REGEN (not-for profit) embraces the
opportunity to host the 'Power Plant' festival with space to sow a new festive
seed of hope, action and celebration. The time is present for us all to relate
and restore balance within an ecosystem.

Come celebrate over 3 days, spread over three stages with a buffet of audio,
visual and performance stimulation. Alternate activities to entertain the senses
include:

Kundalicious café: Vegetarian delights to feed the hungry masses

Market Village: Everything from fresh coffee, hot food, funky clothes and
jewellery, environmental products, services, workshops and an Outdoor Cinema!!

Healing Space: Natural healers to soothe muscles and minds.

Yoga: A Saturday morning yoga session will limber the masses for the day of
planting.

The most important event of all will be a mass tree planting to help
regenerate the land. Revegetation will take place adjacent to the festival
activities and has been selected in order to reduce salinity and erosion issues
on the property and to create an area for native animals to feed, shelter,
reproduce and live harmoniously with human animals.

A turquoise lake will accompany us during this spring weekend, making all
forms of celebration juicier.

Come share, create, get down, and get your hands dirty.
Plenty of camping space, showers and amenities.
Easy access (just off the New England Highway).
   All ages welcome.
   No pets or fires.

Bring your drinking water, boots, gloves for tree planting, sunscreen,
swimmers and smiles.
Presale Tickets: $50 + bf (available through moshtix) and benny 0412363930
   At the gate: $70
   Day pass; 8am - 6pm: $20

   Festival Objectives

The objectives of our events are three-fold:

   1. Environmental Remediation and Rehabilitation
A key objective of the events is to conduct a full day of broad-scale native
re-vegetation works in order to rehabilitate a cleared or degraded area. It is
recognized that bush regeneration activities often involve small numbers of
local volunteers which are not often capable of undertaking significant
regeneration projects due to a lack of numbers. It is intended that a
significant re-vegetation project be undertaken at this event, fully utilizing
the large number of participants.

   2. Education, Awareness and Community Participation
Another key objective of this event is to promote awareness and the
prioritisation of environmental themes within our lives. RE>GEN delivers open
invitations to environmental groups to use the event as a platform to promote
sustainable living, in harmony with the environment. The music festival
encourages people to attend and promotes an atmosphere of celebration whilst
simultaneously developing widespread community involvement with their immediate
environment through bush regeneration.

From our experience, bush regeneration volunteers have characteristically been
older people with an interest in preserving their local environment. We believe
all ages, including young people, are interested in the environment, though they
have limited knowledge or opportunity to participate. Through combining the bush
regeneration with celebration and entertainment, we provide people who wouldn't
generally participate in environmental remediation activities with the
opportunity to become involved. Therefore, whilst achieving environmental
objectives, the event will also achieve goals of community education,
involvement and enhance public relations.

   3. Showcasing Artists and Building Relationships
A third objective of this event is to showcase music, visual and performance
art from Australia and abroad for the benefit of both the artists and the people
that participate. In doing so, RE>GEN supports the wave of up-and-coming artists
and simultaneously feeds the insatiable appetite for good positive music and
art. RE>GEN also wishes to build a positive, supportive and ongoing relationship
with Traditional owners, LandCare groups, land holders, environmental
organizations, Artists and the general public, to ensure that similar events may
be held in the future.

older people with an interest in preserving their local environment. We believe
all ages, including young people, are interested in the environment, though they
have limited knowledge or opportunity to participate.

A third objective of this event is to showcase music, visual and performance art
from Australia and abroad for the benefit of both the artists and the people
that participate.

This message board is getting a bit confusing and its hard to tell if
lift are being offered / sought for the Original or Syd events.

Do we need two boards? Or perhaps include this info in headings?

Remembering of course that the Original is always the best and that
immitations just dont make the grade...??

What say you all?

Thanks again.
     This Festival Rocked.
I just keep learning, and I know it can get bigger,I also know we could just
keep it to ourselves,But something this special and great is doing amazing
things when shared with our family and friends and their family and friends and
so on.
With such a contribution culture being the footing of this festival.the growth
spurts are fast becoming an extended family.
Btw we have meetings coming up for the next festival in January
we are looking for feed back and active people to contribute their energy to
future meetings to talk about Januaries festival.
I also have a Jembe that some one may have forgotten (not the one Derek has
lost) this may suggest someone took the wrong one home.
Also if you had any tools, tape, work knives, marking pens or other equipment.
Please bring them to the next festival Thanks
Love and light

I Just noticed I forgot to mention
This is for SYDNEY CONFESTERS
starting in 3 of weeks
  original message follows with alteration:

EVER WONDERED HOW THEY GET ALL THAT STUFF TO JUST WORK.
If you have been to a confesters gathering in the past
you may have noticed that there is a lot of equipment
That some how becomes assembled and fully functional overnight
to create a small village capable of feeding nurturing and c0-creating for
over 1000 people.
This task is now Growing
We are looking for some key people who are Passionate about this project
to assist/learn/teach/duplicate this task so it can be shared by many
the following is a brief list of tasks that happen before during and after
the festival
We also looking for people who can assist in gathering resources/other
people to do these great activities.

Track Inventory of equipment (infrastructure).
There are 100's of items

Demonstrate/teach/monitor/learn the assembly running and dismantling of
equipment:
such as
Marquees
generators
waterpumps
solarpanels
Gas equipment
watertanks
and other festival type equipment
etc

You need not have any experience
just the willingness to make yourself available in future festivals
So all the training / learning's you receive can be applied to future
festivals

Hey Brothers and sisters
We are starting to get some amazing contributions'to this coming
SydneyConFesters Festival
We have a tepee in the Gosford area that requires Pickup and return
ideally this would require some one who has a strong set of roof racks
And a Marquee that requires transport in one direction
ideally a Ute or stationwagon or bigger would suit
The marquee is in wood ford Queensland
http://www.whereis.com/whereis/mapping/zoomMap.do?mapIndex=1&brandId=1&level=7
and can be collected right now :-)
its quite an urgent job
please email me direct

or phone 0412363930
for any of the above projects
