Before this site is launched,
I'd like to offer you guys the chance to become the firstest members
in an unofficial, impartial Confest forum!
It is a free forum intended for:
* an extra resource for categorised carpooling from all 8 states and
territories, extra exposure don't hurt!
* a public forum to discuss workshop preparation
* a meeting place for hippies
* a free place to host confest happy snaps
It is an attempt to create an interactive space online where happy
vibes are the focus and I will do my best to keep politics separate
from those contributions.
Benny, for your tireless efforts in promoting all things *spesh* i
would like to offer you a moderator role for whenever you'd like to
join in the fun!

Bill

Here are the minutes:
Sydney ConFester's Meeting

Apologies: Greg, Rob, Adrian, Fiona, Tristan, Supatra, Jacqui, Profth, Elieen,
& Kev
Discussion about previous minutes, need to be located for legal reasons. Could
be on CD or on Yahoo group.
1. Previous minutes read by Sophia. Accepted by Vi and seconded by
Karen.
2. COMMITTEE PROCESS How to do.
- Everything to go through Cup of Chai group.
- Individuals to attend to various matters
- Needs to be efficient
- How to take action
- Setting boundaries
CO-COORDINATORS - what parameters? To be set by committee. Coordinators
Entrusted with responsibilities. They can then delegate.
Coordinator roles:
Syd ConFesters festival facilitation - Jimmy & Sophia
Web site - Kev
Infrastructure - Benny
Facilities (Hot Tub, shower etc) - Ross
Kitchen - Vi
Waste & lost property - Marie
Utilities - insert your name here
Front Gate - Nirvano?? Hopefully - (anyone else??)
People Services - Currently taking applications
Chai Tent & chai kitchen - Karen & Fiona
Children's tent & safety -
First aid -
Notice board -
Art area -
At festival
Conflict resolution -
Concert & activities -
Eggs - Dianna
GENERAL INQUIRY EMAILS TO SYD CONFESTER'S - A touchy subject
Could require group consultation. Jimmy is happy to do. The process
needs
To be transparent. The group authorised Jimmy to respond or delegated at
his discretion
QUESTIONS TO DTE - legalistic. Jimmy delegated to initiate discussions with
DTE. Marie to copy Don's questions and answers - re meaning of ConFesters.
FLYER
Sophia & Jimmy to locate October flyer to convert to January flyer.
ON-LINE BOOKINGS
Sub group to convene before commencing on-line (electronic) bookings for January
Sydney ConFesters.
WORD WIZARD
Tristan to do some word smithing on Contribution Festival.
MAGIC MAN
Karen will check-in with Adrian to see if he has contacted Winter Magic Festival
organisers regarding running a Syd ConFester's Chai Tent. Would ANYONE like to
organize a Sydney ConFesters chai tent at the Winter Magic Festival??? Brian ??
If it is a Syd ConFesters event, it will need to have close input by SCF crew.
however if someone would like to arrange the Winter Magic Chai we would give
blessings along with a clear brief : )
1. PROMO MATERIAL
We'd like flyer and business card size hand out (subject to cost).
Sophia will contact Ravian to arrange. Benny to organise Printer quotation.
Dates on flyer. Have ready to hand out at Peats Ridge. Sophia advised that the
Chai Tent organizers (Peats Ridge Festival) were happy for Sydney ConFest flyers
to be handed out, thus no need to contact the Chai Tent Organising committee.
Flyer wording changes: Clothing optional to go onto flyer. Question - when to
alleviate ambiguity. ConFesters is a clothing optional festival. Not to be
written near hot tub. Your choice to wear clothes or not is respected
(contributed by Ross).
2. SITE SPECS
Dianna will jazz up email asking for tip offs of good sites. Email to
communicate that January site is secure and confirmed (with dates) but that we
are always on the look out for suitable sites. Dianna will send her site spec
email to Cup of Chai group first for comments. Sophia will forward to Dianna
the email that has previously been created.
3. REPLIES TIMEOUT
Replies from the Cup of Chai group to be made within 48 hours as a standard.
4. FUN
Cup of Chai celebration 21 December - Sophia to arrange.
7. MUD TRIBE INVITATION
Dianna Holistic Parties to restart. Is organizing a Mud Tribe for Holistic
Parties promotion. May be good opportunity to hand out ConFesters flyers. How
can ConFesters/Cup of Chai support Dianna? But Dianna's events are commercial.
But ConFesters not for profit. We shouldn't muddy our relationship. Handouts
need to be clear that Syd ConFesters has no ties with "Holistic Parties". No
ambiguity - actual or implied. Totally separate. Jimmy, Sophia & Dianna will
discussed at The Grove weekend. Dianna to prepare proposal for Cup of Chai.
8. FOOD AT FESTIVAL
The main kitchen is vegan. Needs more clear signage.
We need to ensure clean water and fresh food at our festival.
Group generally felt that eggs shouldn't be included. However, eggs will be
made available during meal times at special requests.
Eggs, cheese and milk need to be chilled. There could be liability issues if
participants were to fall ill.
The group generally felt that our meals should be plant based with the addition
of tofu and nuts.
We will amend Flyer & handouts stating ConFesters is a vegan environment (no
animal products) and that participants should advise if they have specific
dietary needs.
We also recognized the need to cater for other people with special food
requirements where we can, e.g. gluten intolerances.
Child friendly meals were available but not known to all - next festival it will
better communicated. Probably at evening circle, in kids space & at meal times.
9. MUNCHIES AT MEETINGS
Light food was originally brought into the meetings because we all lead busy
lives & it helps make things easier. People generally bring a contribution & we
snack throughout the meeting or share a meal together prior to the meeting.
It was suggested that the group has not discussed if the meeting are meat free.
Most of organizing crew are vegetarian. Some find the smell of meat etc off
putting. Meat eaters of group are happy keep meetings vegetarian, which is
simple and easy.
Also, there are other considerations such as wheat-free & gluten intolerant
people. (Spelt out too & be aware that sometimes cornflour contains traces of
wheat).
The host will advise if it's convenient to bring a plate or if food will be
provided (vegetarian please). If food is happening, meeting will begin
earlier, say 7pm munch for a 7.30 meeting.
10. OTHER BUSINESS
Trailer DTE has provided registration seems to have expired on 18 December 04
(VIC). Jimmy& Sophia to follow up DTE. trailer is property of DTE.
Budget needs to be discussed next meeting.
11. NEXT MEETING !! 7 December at E J Ward Centre, Paddington. Meeting
after Christmas, prior to the January Festival will be weekly.
12. NEXT FESTIVAL
January ConFesters 25-29 January - Wednesday to Sunday inclusive.
Next meeting
Wednesday 7 December at E J Ward Centre Paddington 7.30 to 9.30pm J
ALL WELCOME
The meeting is full of great people who are keen to continue to create a
fantastic festival who would love your feedback, meeting attendance &/or smiles.
Thanks

Namaste! For those interested in A Course In Miracles, you might wanna check out
the original unedited version of it called the Urtext. The Course is an entirely
channelled work from Jesus Christ, teaching forgiveness, peace, true perception
and love. It is the "Bible" that Jesus intended us to have. The published Course
might put people off cos of the traditional Christian jargon and terms, but the
Urtext has a more general and personal feel to it, as if Jesus was talking to
you. However, if you are able to transcend the traditional Christian terms in
the published version, you will be able to gain the treasure that Jesus is
trying to convey. Also check out the printable booklets in the Urtext website.

Namaste!
Thanks Benny. Yeah, that's how I usually find my way around, follow my bliss, as
Joseph Campbell said. I'm gonna be really guided by Spirit, and whatever
happens, it's gonna be beautiful! And if fate decrees, we might even meet each
other.
Blessed be

hmmmm???
when you get onsite you may get drawn to a certain area or geographical anomaly.
you may meet some one who has already found a place.there are many ways to
choose.I would suggest going with your first instinct/gut feel.
you will generally find work shop spaces spread out throughout the whole site
independent of specific village areas,
You will find that you meet all the most relevant people in your life @ confest
in divine timing it might be 2 or 200 people depends on the number of workshops
you participate in, communal cooking activities,
Drumming, first aid, well being, fire twirling, dancing, acro, maint, setup pack
down etc
each activity brings you closer to the bigger community in confest.
Happy ConFest :-)

Namaste!
Thanks Starman and Benny! I encountered some sort of a navigation problem at
the website. I can't find the Message Board somehow. Maybe I'm missing it?
I have another question, regarding the concept of the Villages. I understand
that hundreds of people attend Confest every year, and thus the Village idea.
How do u choose a Village? Does everyone at Confest get to meet everyone else at
some point of time during the week? Are the activities different for each
Village? Pardon the questions.

No worries Mate, Just contact DTE(confest) direct.
They have a message board to hook you up with folks
going to Confest. Also you will easily meet people in
Australia. The Australians I have met are now long
time mates. It is a fantastic country and so are most
of the people I have met.
There will also be posts on this message board.
All the stuff you need to get is easy to buy and very
affordable. You may not want to ever leave
Australia. Especially after a Confest or two. I have
been to seven so far since 1999. I am from California.
Cheers and Good on Ya Mate, Starman

It seems the link to the message board is no longer there.
hmmmm???
when you get onsite you may get drawn to a certain area or geographical anomaly.
you may meet some one who has already found a place.there are many ways to
choose.I would suggest going with your first instinct/gut feel.
you will generally find work shop spaces spread out throughout the whole site
independent of specific village areas,
You will find that you meet all the most relevant people in your life @ confest
in divine timing it might be 2 or 200 people depends on the number of workshops
you participate in, communal cooking activities,
Drumming, first aid, well being, fire twirling, dancing, acro, maint, setup pack
down etc
each activity brings you closer to the bigger community in confest.
Happy ConFest :-)

Namaste!
First of all, I just wanna say how grateful i am to chance upon this
egroup. It's like my prayers are answered, almost immediately!
I'm visiting a friend in Melbourne in December and I'm really
interested in attending ConFest. The thing is, I don't know anyone
in
Australia besides my friend and I don't think she's able to get away
from her job. Is there a way where I can hook up with people going
for
this coming Confest 2005? And there are the icky details to worry
about like tentage, food and other stuff. How do I prepare myself?
Are
there any kind Aussies who are willing to take care of a foreigner
while on his spiritual retreat to Down Under?
Oh by the way, I'm from an theatre undergraduate from Singapore. I'm
also better known as a Hippie, Out-Queer, Healer, Lightworker,
Indigo
Adult and Anarchist, among other things
Do write me back? Email fleur_wicce_le_fay@..., or this group,
whatever makes you happy *smiles*
Many thanks
Peace and Love

Through the plants and animals that nourish us and the rains and the oceans
that flow through our veins: We are the Earth. We are human animals, related to
all other life as descendants of the firstborn cell. We share a common history,
written in our genes, and a present and future that is filled with our
uncertainty.
Within the Scenic Hunter Valley, REGEN (not-for profit) embraces the
opportunity to host the 'Power Plant' festival with space to sow a new festive
seed of hope, action and celebration. The time is present for us all to relate
and restore balance within an ecosystem.
Come celebrate over 3 days, spread over three stages with a buffet of audio,
visual and performance stimulation. Alternate activities to entertain the senses
include:
Kundalicious café: Vegetarian delights to feed the hungry masses
Market Village: Everything from fresh coffee, hot food, funky clothes and
jewellery, environmental products, services, workshops and an Outdoor Cinema!!
Healing Space: Natural healers to soothe muscles and minds.
Yoga: A Saturday morning yoga session will limber the masses for the day of
planting.
The most important event of all will be a mass tree planting to help
regenerate the land. Revegetation will take place adjacent to the festival
activities and has been selected in order to reduce salinity and erosion issues
on the property and to create an area for native animals to feed, shelter,
reproduce and live harmoniously with human animals.
A turquoise lake will accompany us during this spring weekend, making all
forms of celebration juicier.
Come share, create, get down, and get your hands dirty.
Plenty of camping space, showers and amenities.
Easy access (just off the New England Highway).
All ages welcome.
No pets or fires.
Bring your drinking water, boots, gloves for tree planting, sunscreen,
swimmers and smiles.
Presale Tickets: $50 + bf (available through moshtix) and benny 0412363930
At the gate: $70
Day pass; 8am - 6pm: $20
Festival Objectives
The objectives of our events are three-fold:
1. Environmental Remediation and Rehabilitation
A key objective of the events is to conduct a full day of broad-scale native
re-vegetation works in order to rehabilitate a cleared or degraded area. It is
recognized that bush regeneration activities often involve small numbers of
local volunteers which are not often capable of undertaking significant
regeneration projects due to a lack of numbers. It is intended that a
significant re-vegetation project be undertaken at this event, fully utilizing
the large number of participants.
2. Education, Awareness and Community Participation
Another key objective of this event is to promote awareness and the
prioritisation of environmental themes within our lives. RE>GEN delivers open
invitations to environmental groups to use the event as a platform to promote
sustainable living, in harmony with the environment. The music festival
encourages people to attend and promotes an atmosphere of celebration whilst
simultaneously developing widespread community involvement with their immediate
environment through bush regeneration.
From our experience, bush regeneration volunteers have characteristically been
older people with an interest in preserving their local environment. We believe
all ages, including young people, are interested in the environment, though they
have limited knowledge or opportunity to participate. Through combining the bush
regeneration with celebration and entertainment, we provide people who wouldn't
generally participate in environmental remediation activities with the
opportunity to become involved. Therefore, whilst achieving environmental
objectives, the event will also achieve goals of community education,
involvement and enhance public relations.
3. Showcasing Artists and Building Relationships
A third objective of this event is to showcase music, visual and performance
art from Australia and abroad for the benefit of both the artists and the people
that participate. In doing so, RE>GEN supports the wave of up-and-coming artists
and simultaneously feeds the insatiable appetite for good positive music and
art. RE>GEN also wishes to build a positive, supportive and ongoing relationship
with Traditional owners, LandCare groups, land holders, environmental
organizations, Artists and the general public, to ensure that similar events may
be held in the future.

This message board is getting a bit confusing and its hard to tell if
lift are being offered / sought for the Original or Syd events.
Do we need two boards? Or perhaps include this info in headings?
Remembering of course that the Original is always the best and that
immitations just dont make the grade...??
What say you all?

Thanks again.
This Festival Rocked.
I just keep learning, and I know it can get bigger,I also know we could just
keep it to ourselves,But something this special and great is doing amazing
things when shared with our family and friends and their family and friends and
so on.
With such a contribution culture being the footing of this festival.the growth
spurts are fast becoming an extended family.
Btw we have meetings coming up for the next festival in January
we are looking for feed back and active people to contribute their energy to
future meetings to talk about Januaries festival.
I also have a Jembe that some one may have forgotten (not the one Derek has
lost) this may suggest someone took the wrong one home.
Also if you had any tools, tape, work knives, marking pens or other equipment.
Please bring them to the next festival Thanks
Love and light
Benny
