Hi folks - *really* looking forward to ConFest.

I had the idea that I might visit family in Mudgee for Christmas - but
only if I can then get to ConFest on time, and without major dramas.

If anyone happens to be going from that way let me know. Otherwise,
any suggestions for safe hitchhiking? (I'm thinking of getting lifts
at truck stops.)

Thanks beautiful people!

Hi!

My friend and I are looking at options for getting TO the Moulamein
Confest site from Sydney (Newtown area) around 27th-28th Dec.

In return for a lift there we can offer:

Adequate fuel money to the generous driver / vehicle owner

Relief from driving if desired (one of us has a driver's license)

Masses of delicious organic homemade baked goods (an essential for
any road trip)

Spades of enthusiasm and good energy

Some kind of yummy chocolate.

Anyone interested with 2 spare seats available (or if anyone has
heard of little buses going) I'd love to hear from you!

Email: bonniesoda@...

Thanks!

Subject: Bliss.....

Hi Benny and other Sydney Blissfuls,

I've just returned from a week at the Moulamein confest site, beginning the
setup of Bliss and Tranquility, returning at the end of the month.

The river level is low but flowing, the lagoon is dry except for a few
patches of mud. All is now focused on the river front area.

There is a beautiful beach at the end of tranquility, so planning on
developing and making the most of this, probably shadecloth suspended above
an area of beach and water.

A 2 x 3 metre area at the fire circle has been levelled for a hot tub (or
cool tub - depending on the weather), materials for it have been procured.

Also scrounged some materials for the wood fired mudbrick ovens and designs
for these have been pretty much finalised, so hone your pizza and
bread-making skills and expect YUM!!! Included is also a barbie with a solid
metal plate, so good for pancakes and frying.

I am just about to ask DTE for a budget and intend to include provisions for
a load of sand to cover the fire circle so we won't have to sit on the dirty
ground.

I'm thinking about what else the Bliss/Tranquility areas are in need of. Any
suggestions?

Any ideas about kitchen equipment we need? I was thinking a couple of large
stock pots. Can anyone in Sydney lay their hands on this sort of thing
second-hand?

Any ideas and input would be more than welcome. Thurs morning (after your
meeting Wed eve) would be good as the ConFest meeting is Thurs eve.

Big hugs from Melb.

Andrea.

Hi beautiful Confesters!

One of the frenchies from previous confests is coming to Sydney in
December and both of us are looking for a lift to and from Confest -
we are happy to contribute towards fuel expenses.

I live in Newtown and am happy to travel to meet you when you leave.
We'll be having backpacks, tent, drum - standard confest stuff.

Both of us are absolute Confest tragics and I got the bus to confest
last Easter with the Sydney mob - Benny tells me it's not going this
New Years so we're a bit desperate!

My mobile number is 04047 40257 give me a call or email us.

Thanks in advance!

Rana

Subject: Bliss kitchen - want to help build a mud brick oven?

Hi Benny, Please forward the following to all the lovely Sydney Blissfuls.

Also, I'd like to get in contact with your German stonemason friend, do you
have his contact details?

Big warm hugs,

Andrea.

Hello my Blissful lovelies,

The weather is warming up and thoughts are turning to... summer confest!

One of the projects we are planning is a mud brick oven (constructed in a
way which will allow us to use it during fire bans).

Think of all those delicious things we can cook; wood fired pizzas and
breads, as well as anything you can cook in a normal oven... but tastier.

We might even build it with a second fire at the side with a hotplate on
top. Have a look at this oven:
http://www.woodfiredovenworkshops.com/lavendulaoven.htm I was thinking of a
more organic shape, however. An idea is to decorate the exterior with
colourful pieces of broken crockery in a mosaic style, so if you break any
plates between now and then, bring them along.

I'm looking at plans and books on the subject at the moment. If you're
interested, the current issue of Grass Roots magazine and the June-Aug issue
of Earth Garden both have articles on building cob ovens. We'll probably be
using some of this technology as well as mud bricks.

Anyone want to get involved?

We'll have a "dirty weekend" on site making mud bricks (probably) 1st - 2nd
Dec, with, of course, plenty of time for sitting around a campfire and
making communal meals (Gavin?? we'd love to see you), as well as planning
how we'll build it. (It won't, unfortunately, be an appropriate weekend to
bring the kids.)

It will take the bricks a few weeks to dry, so I imagine we'll be doing the
actual building just before or after Christmas day (when we'll also be
setting up Bliss once again). We will be delighted to have you participate
at this time as well, either building the oven and/or setting up Bliss.

Any input/ideas you have about this project or anything else at Bliss are
most welcome.

We can organise car pooling if needed.

Looking forward to hearing from you.

Hugs to all,

Andrea.

I don't normally promote this But........
Changing the constitution by a person who continually deceives a nation is
Unacceptable. It will only take away more rights.
Especially this one.

Page 286 9 lines down in the constitution Quick And Garran

"The truth is the supreme absolute and uncontrollable authority remains with
the people"

Important message from M.M.:

"Howard just said he would hold a referendum to change the preamble to
recognize Aborigines:
Another attempt to take Almighty God out of the Constitution and get
absolute supremacy of parliament.Taking more rights away from people....

Aimed at the "feels right" voters
who are not able to think enough to see the trap, who don't know that

Aborigines are already recognized in the Constitution and by Almighty
God and by an earlier referendum and who don't know the many
protections of the preamble. Vote NO!"

M.
[Benny Menczer] PLEASE PASS THIS ON

Please pass around

"Hey Confesters! As you should know by now, this festival shall be held at
Turtle Camp near Taree. Between September 27th and the 1st of October. But
did you know that Taree has a train station which has 3 services daily from
Sydney? As Sydney Confest is all about being sustainable, we would like to
encourage people to take the train where possible. From the train station
you will need to organise a lift to the site. The committee have been
thinking about a way in which we can facilitate this and feel that a
donation should be given to the driver to thank him or her for picking you
up. We thought something around $5 a head would give drivers an incentive
to drive to the train station but not break the bank for people who are
doing the right thing by the environment and catching the train. Of course,
this is just a suggestions, and we can't ensure that people will actually
pic k you up from the station, nor can we ensure that you will get $5 for
being a driver. But we think the suggestion may facilitate a system of
public transport and community helping each other out. If you call (insert
person or leave as Viola - 0428 225584) and tell her when you're arriving,
she is happy to assist you in finding a lift. We intend to get at least one
pick up per day organised (probably from the 17:11 train)

By the way, the services run to these times

Depart 07:15
Arrive 12:36

Depart 11:35
Arrive 17:11

Depart 16:20 < BR>Arrive 21:42

We recommend that you check these times and pre book your tickets"

Hi Everyone : )

Below is a message from Eric (who most you you will know) .... please do your
good deed for today & circulate to your near & dear.

   Cheers

<><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><>

Hello all

I’m coming back to Australia in November, and I’m looking for a
sharehouse around the Inner West (Marrickville / Stanmore / Newtown),
Eastern Suburbs (Bondi / Bronte) or the Surry Hills area.

I’ll be joined by my fiancee Melanie from Germany in December. I’m
37, and Mel is 31. She graduated from Berlin with a Masters in
English, Biology & Education, and is studying Shiatsu. I’m an aerial
dancer/trapeze artist setting up a Circus in Sydney, and planning to
study Counselling from next year onwards. I’ve trained as a Remedial
Massage Therapist.

We’ve both lived in a number of sharehouses both in Germany, England,
Slovakia & Australia, and have both been sharing our own apartment
together since the beginning of this year. We have stories galore to
tell of places far & wide, so we are unlikely to bore.

For the basics, we prefer to clean our dishes every night (altho not
perfect), have no problem living in a non-smoking house, that
respects collective housework, are relatively clean, love working a
garden of any size, mostly eat organic, and are fine with pets. We
want to live with people who are mature enough to understand
harmonious living and having a good functioning house, help look
after each other, have some communal meals together or even cook a
meal in the ground of the back yard!

I own an apartment in St Leonards which supplies my basic income from
rent, and my fiancee has a plethora of jobs she can take up in
Sydney, so we are good rent & bill payers. Btw the rent I get on my
flat, I wouldn’t even be able to afford myself!

We’re keen to live in a house for 3 months minimum (longer if things
work out) by share one room - and can therefore pay more per week for
it.

If you know someone who is looking for 1 person from mid-November,
then fine with 2 people from mid-December - please circulate this
around. My email is yay4things@....

Thanks all!
Eric & Melanie
