Naomi Robson - Biography

Naomi Robson has always been cool under pressure in the newsroom but
will she be able to handle the heat on the dance floor?

"I'm feeling intimidated because I'm way out of my comfort zone but
knowing that my involvement in the show like this will help awareness
for a fantastic cause (the Alannah and Madeline Foundation) makes it
all worth it," Naomi says.

The journalist is best known as the presenter of the east-coast
edition of Today Tonight, which she hosted from 1997-2006 – becoming
one of the longest serving public affairs presenters in Australia.
Naomi took Today Tonight to the top of ratings in the competitive
6.30pm timeslot.

Born in California, USA, Naomi first arrived in Australia as a
three-year-old. The family traveled wherever her academic father's
work took them, so much of her childhood was spent living between
Australia and England. As a teenager, she developed an interest in
photojournalism after seeing the inspiring documentary Frontline about
the life of Australian cameraman Neil Davis.

Two years into a Bachelor of Arts at Melbourne's La Trobe University,
she left to begin work as an assistant for several respected
photojournalists. She later left Australia for a working holiday in
London, where she took up a role as a journalist and editorial
assistant for a major magazine publishing group before returning home.
The blue-eyed beauty joined Seven News as a general news reporter in
June 1990. After just three weeks, she was asked to present the news
on Steve Vizard's Tonight Live.

Over the next few years, she presented Seven's Late News, the weekend
editions of Seven News, reported for Real Life and hosted the summer
edition of the show. In 1996, she fronted Our Victoria, a state-based
travel program and later co-hosted Seven's News At Five with Peter
Ford and then in 1997, she took over the reigns of Today Tonight.
Naomi is dancing for the The Alannah and Madeline Foundation, "It is a
great privilege to be involved with The Alannah and Madeline
Foundation which aims to tackle the issue of violence against
children. I'm particularly excited about the Foundation's
anti-bullying initiative for primary schools – the Better Buddies
Framework – which is already having a positive impact. It not only
gives children a voice but helps to build up a support network."
